Chapter 126: CH 126: How impatient I am (WMR4)
Dave stood before the large iron gate of the establishment, then without speaking, he commanded the two Berad beasts beside him to take down the gate.
Instantly the two beasts had lurched forward with a ground-shaking roar. They charged straight at the fortress gate, their massive claws digging trenches into the earth as they built momentum. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
In one devastating blow, the gate gave way. The black steel structure buckled under the impact, groaning like a dying beast before collapsing in a cloud of dust and debris. Shards of metal scattered across the ground, and the thunderous sound of its fall echoed like a drumbeat of war.
Following after, the beasts let out a deafening roar of success before making their way back to Dave’s side.
Gasps and shouts erupted from within the compound. All eyes turned toward the wreckage. Then from behind the dust and debris, a lone figure emerged atop a monstrous, bear-like beast. The creature moved with the weight of a living tank, each step slow and deliberate, shaking the earth beneath it.
Dave sat tall on the Berad’s back, his form appearing like a warlord who had just come from a conquering war. His face was calm, too calm. And behind him, more beasts followed. Fanged, clawed, and horned, they moved in formation, each one tamed and obedient, but visibly bristling with primal power.
The scene struck the gathered crowd like a thunderbolt. There were at least a hundred people in the yard, spread out in tight clusters. Many of them were armed with swords and weapons, and nearly all of them had beasts of their own; one or two at their side, snarling low in response to the new arrivals.
From somewhere in the crowd, a voice rose, defiant, but tinged with unease.
"Who the hell is this?" the man barked. "How dare you barge into our stronghold like this?"
No one answered. All attention was fixed on Dave, the man who had broken their gate and was now standing at the edge of their domain, silent, powerful, and far from alone.
Dave remained mounted on the back of the beast, his eyes fixed on the group of people before him, including those standing by the window side of each floors of the building. Though, he hadn’t seen Hyun who was peeping through the window of the third floor.
But there was something that Dave noticed. It was how quiet everywhere had become as he entered. The tension in the air coiled through the crowd like a drawn bow. Dust still hung in the air from the shattered gate, swirling lazily around the ruins.
And then, he decided to speak, his voice cutting through the silence, but it was calm, clear, and purposeful.
"I’m here for the two women you brought to this place," he said, his gaze locking on a broad-shouldered man with a black mask on his face, standing near the rear of the group.
The man’s presence was unmistakable, he stood slightly ahead of four others dressed in matching black traditional garb, and masks, each gripping a sword in their hands. Their formation wasn’t sloppy. These were men trained for confrontation.
"Bring them to me," Dave continued, "or face the consequences."
The man narrowed his eyes, unfazed but visibly calculating. "What women? We don’t have who you’re looking for!" he called out, his voice edged with irritation.
Dave didn’t blink.
He shifted slightly in his seating and gestured behind him. From the broken shadows beyond the compound’s entrance, a low growl echoed, and then came movement.
A new beast emerged, smaller than the Berad but still formidable, its lean body packed with muscle and menace. While bound behind it were three men, their arms tied tightly to the beasts.
Their bodies and clothes were bruised and smeared with blood and dirt. They stumbled as they were dragged into the open, heads bowed in exhaustion and shame.
"These men," Dave said evenly, "They were found at the meeting point where I was supposed to find the women. They told me everything. Including the fact that you guys took them."
He stared back at the burly man. "So, I’ll ask again: where are the women?"
The man didn’t waver as he gave Dave the same reply as he had been giving him. "I told you already," he growled, "we don’t have anyone you’re looking for. And for what you’ve done, for trespassing, for destroying our gate, and for threatening us, you’re going to regret ever stepping foot here."
Dave’s expression didn’t change. But his next words came with a weight that dropped like iron.
"So what about these three?" he asked, his voice dipping into something sharper. "You’re just going to abandon them? Let them die here after serving your cause?"
The man didn’t answer. None of them did. Instead, he turned to the warriors beside him and gave a curt nod.
"Kill the intruder. Now."
Steel rang out as blades were drawn, and coming out of the building, more fighters in black masks moved into position. They were ready to strike the intruder.
Dave slowly exhaled, his hand lowering to the side of his mount.
"So that’s how it is," he muttered, voice low but laced with fury. "Fine by me." His eyes narrowed, and a thin smirk pulled at the corner of his lips.
"Let me show you just how impatient I can be."
From his void space, Dave had summoned something. It is a common weapon used by many people, and it was instantly recognized by everyone present there.
"A rifle gun! He has a rifle!" One of the men shouted.
However, his words was cut short when a loud pang was heard and a bullet pierced through his chest. Screams of terror could be heard filling the area, but Dave was only just starting. He wasn’t going to hurt the people that were standing with no mask on, his only aim were the men with masks on their face.
At that moment, they could hear one of the three men that were initially captured by Dave, shouting. Surprisingly, they were no longer tied to the beasts.
"Everyone, if you don’t want to be caught in the gun fire, move to the side now!" Peter shouted as he sprinted towards a group of people that he knew, same as Kurt and Jeff.
