Chapter 142: CH 142: The Blue skinned figure (MUC 10)
Sun moved closer to Dave, locking her lips with his. Dave was surprised, but he didn’t move and just accepted Sun’s lips into his. They locked lips with each other, and Sun had started to move her hands into Dave’s pants when they heard a loud crash outside.
"What’s that noise?" Sun asked. For a moment, the two had let go of each other as they wondered what was happening outside.
With no other option, they had decided to suspend their intimacy to a later time, but Sun was a little disappointed. She was already getting in the mood, but decided it’s best to check out what’s happening outside first.
Who knows if it’s an enemy that was attacking, it would seem stupid to continue what they were doing after hearing the sound. So, they had decided to leave.
As Dave and Kim Sun emerged from the room, their gaze fell upon a scene of destruction in the distance. A towering building, once a proud structure, was now collapsing in on itself.
The sound of crunching concrete and twisted metal filled the air as the building’s framework buckled and crumpled. It was as if an invisible force had pushed down on the rooftop, causing the entire structure to fold inwards.
The building’s descent into ruin was mesmerizing, and Dave’s eyes were drawn to the spectacle. "What’s going on?" he asked, his voice carrying across the courtyard.
The crowd, which had been watching the building’s collapse, turned to face him. Peter, standing nearby, turned to Dave and explained, "It’s just one of the buildings that’s been damaged by the meteor and beasts. You don’t have to worry about it; it’s become a common thing for us around here."
Peter’s tone was matter-of-fact, and he gestured towards the rubble-strewn site as if to illustrate a familiar story. The people around him nodded in agreement, their expressions a mix of resignation and acceptance.
For them, the collapse was just another day, another event in a world that had grown accustomed to chaos. Dave’s question, however, betrayed a sense of unease, a reminder that not everyone had grown numb to the destruction that surrounded them.
Dave’s gaze lingered on the rubble-strewn site, his mind racing with questions. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that something wasn’t quite right about the building’s collapse.
It was the building where he had found Kim Hyun and had fought him lastly before he died, yet, that same building had now crumbled into dust. The structure seemed sturdy enough when he had left it, and he was certain it wasn’t on the verge of collapse, so how could it have been destroyed within that short time.
Dave’s instincts told him that this wasn’t just a random event, but he knew that sharing his suspicions wouldn’t make sense to the others.
As he stood there, lost in thought, Dave’s eyes scanned the rooftops nearby. That’s when he saw it – a figure standing atop a building close to the one that had collapsed. The figure was bathed in sunlight, its blue hue stark against the dull cityscape.
For a moment, Dave’s breath caught in his throat. He felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that the building’s collapse indeed wasn’t just an accident. It was just as he thought, something must have caused the building to collapse, but it wasn’t the meteor nor the beasts.
But now, seeing the blue skinned figure, he could already guess what had happened. He could see the blue figure from afar, its presence both captivating and unnerving.
As his eyes locked onto the blue figure, a certain string of memories had appeared in his mind as he recalled the dreams that would constantly haunt him in his sleep.
The same blue skin tone, the same imposing presence – it was a sight he couldn’t easily forget. Although the figure’s face was obscured, Dave’s instincts told him that this was the same being who had tormented his dreams.
As he pieced together the events, Dave’s thoughts turned to Kim Hyun and the battle they had just shared. Kim Hyun being among the three humans selected to possess a part of Exus’ power, and with Dave defeating and emerging victorious against him.
Now, with the blue figure appearing on the rooftop, Dave’s conclusion was almost inevitable – this was Exus, the god behind Kim Hyun’s power, Earth’s current desolated state and the one he was told by Erin and the rest of the gods to defeat at all cost.
Dave’s mind whirred with possibilities. "He must have seen that one of his human avatar got defeated, and had come here to see what had happened," Dave thought. "If he’s indeed Exus, then he might start to target me now."
Just as Dave’s thoughts were spiraling out of control, a voice echoed in his mind. "It is Exus," Erin said, her tone matter-of-fact. "No doubt, he’s the one."
Dave’s internal monologue was interrupted, and he turned his attention to Erin’s words. "And, did you say you see him in your dreams?" She asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Yes, don’t you see it as well?" Dave replied, expecting Erin to share his experiences.
"No, I can’t," Erin said. "I can only hear your thoughts and see whatever you see in the real world. But the dream world is different – it’s quite complicated, and I can’t access it." Erin said.
Then she started explaining, her words painting a vivid picture of the dream world, a realm that was both fascinating and treacherous. "It interchanges its location every time, so even if I manage to gain entry into your dream, I’ll be lost by the time your dream changes to another scene," she explained. "And if I can’t find my way out before you wake up, I’ll be trapped in your dreams forever. So, yeah, I can’t see your dreams."
Dave’s response was laced with a hint of wow. "Ohh."
Erin’s tone shifted, her interest piqued. "Well, let’s forget about that and discuss something else. What do you see in those dreams of yours having to do with Exus?"
