Star Odyssey-Chapter 3570: The Changes Of The Seeds
Chapter 3570: The Changes Of The Seeds
Elder Ever-Changing was willing to die while reciting the Everstone Discourse. He had truly pursued all these different battle techniques and martial arts purely out of interest. This also meant that his participation in the Everstone Discourse could potentially benefit a tremendous number of people given the myriad paths he had cultivated.
“I can step in and hide his path with my mortal world,” Shao Chen spoke up. Everyone aboard Boundless had heard Old Tao's explanation. Many people would benefit from Elder Ever-Changing’s recitation, and since Lu Yin had realized this, others had as well.
Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. "That’s unnecessary. No matter how far you might go while treading someone else’s path, you will never be able to reach the end. As long as I don't die, the Spirit Nidus will never be able to rise up in the future."
He had gathered a tremendous number of spirit seeds for the purpose of reducing the number of potential cultivators in the Spirit Nidus’s future. It was nothing more than an insignificant trick, which was why Old Yu had ignored it. Lu Yin also felt that it was a small matter, not something that could make a meaningful impact in the face of the war between the three megaverses.
Since Elder Ever-Changing was willing to die to recite the Everstone Discourse so that others could benefit from his death, Lu Yin would not stop the man. He was willing to be at least that magnanimous to a respectable enemy.
If Lu Yin died, then all their efforts would become worthless, and Boundless would mourn. So long as Lu Yin survived, then even if the Spirit Nidus gained a greater number of Immortals than the Tianyuan Megaverse, they would never be able to even think about stepping into the Tianyuan Megaverse. Even among Immortals, there was a difference in strength.
The appearance of Elder Ever-Changing caused countless people to curse, but the commotion soon quieted back down.
This was because Elder Ever-Changing was reciting the Everstone Discourse. Dying was much like a lamp going out, and a person’s death would erase all former grudges. Besides that, this old man was sacrificing himself by participating in the Everstone Discourse.
Those who had hated the old man, as well as the various factions, all calmed down. People closed their eyes and quietly listened.
Elder Ever-Changing’s body disappeared as his voice was carried away by Everstone, reaching the thirty-six domains. Many cultivators grew excited, as the old man had cultivated the same paths as them. Regardless of his character, the old man had succeeded in pursuing multiple cultivation paths, and he had succeeded in becoming a Spirit Ancestor. He possessed a unique understanding of each path that he had followed, which allowed many others to benefit from his insights.
More and more cultivators grew excited. Far more were able to benefit from Elder Ever-Changing than with any of the previous cultivators.
In the past, Elder Ever-Changing had stolen cultivation arts from various groups, but that meant that, at this moment, the members of those groups were able to resonate with him.
The forces that had once hunted Elder Ever-Changing felt relieved, while those that he had not targeted or stolen anything from regretted their former security. They had once taken pleasure in the misfortune that he had caused their rivals, but such was life. One wrong move could completely reverse a situation.
In the Wisdom Domain, Old Yu calmly watched the events unfold.
He was hoping to see the Spirit Nidus eventually give birth to someone comparable to Lord Lu through this recitation of the Everstone Discourse.
Elder Ever-Changing disappeared entirely, offering enlightenment into many cultivators' paths. Cheers and excitement could be heard in all corners of the thirty-six domains.
Everyone had thought that Elder Ever-Changing’s recitation would be the last one performed by a Spirit Ancestor, so the appearance of a fifth peak powerhouse was shocking.
The fifth Spirit Ancestor was another rather famous individual, much the same as Zhao Lingbo and the others, though he was nowhere near as powerful as Elder Ever-Changing. However, seeing the man step forward caused many of the Spirit Nidus’s cultivators to feel that something was off. This recitation of the Everstone Discourse was different from the past.
It was looking like the Wisdom Domain had brought out enough cultivators to conduct two or even three rounds of the Everstone Discourse. But why?
Were there really that many participants just because two people had recently become Seraphs?
In the Ascendant Hall, the High Seraph was peering into the Wisdom Domain. "Are you feeling the pressure now? The Tianyuan Megaverse is not nearly as fragile as we thought. The Consciousness Megaverse still has not been conquered, and doing so will not be easy. If we are also forced to face the Tianyuan Megaverse, it will become even harder for our Spirit Nidus to transcend.
"Furthermore..."
The fifth Spirit Ancestor vanished, only to be followed by a sixth and a seventh. Finally, the ninth Spirit Ancestor spoke, and only then was it the end of the Spirit Ancestors’ recitations.
Three times. Three times the normal number of Spirit Ancestors had sacrificed themselves for the Everstone Discourse.
While many cultivators had benefited greatly from this Everstone Discourse, nine talented Spirit Ancestors had perished, sacrificing themselves. Fortunately, all the powerhouses had been approaching the end of their lives, and so while they deserved respect, losing them was not a regret.
On Boundless, Bian Xiaoxiao had had a breakthrough, as did many other talented individuals.
Several hundred of the people from the Tianyuan Megaverse had also experienced breakthroughs, most of whom were members of the 5,000-man Tianyuan Army. If the Spirit Nidus also had this high a ratio of breakthroughs, it would be absolutely terrifying. However, Lu Yin knew that the cultivators in the thirty-six domains would not have nearly this many successes.
All who were qualified to join the Tianyuan Army were exceptionally talented and thus could not be used as a standard to judge the average cultivators of the Spirit Nidus.
Lu Yin had given his conditions to Old Yu: everyone aboard Boundless beneath the Origin realm would have their cultivation raised by one level. That included the members of the Tianyuan Army, the black energy converter users, and the members of the Scourge Occupation. It was easy for all of these groups to improve; they simply needed time. The greatest challenge that they faced was the breakthrough to the Progenitor realm or for Sequence Progenitors to break through to the Origin realm. Everything depended on what price Old Yu was willing to pay at this time.
"Next up are the sequence powerhouses," Yu Shan commented in the distance.
After Boundless sealed itself off, Yu Shan had been released. For two years, he had occasionally helped Lu Yin learn the Nine Heavens Transformation.
Experiencing the cycle of karma in the Champions' Stage Purgatory seemed to have aged the man by ten years, and when he looked at Lu Yin, there was an indescribable sense of dread.
The truth was that Yu Shan regretted his decision. While the High Seraph could kill him, Lu Yin left Yu Shan wishing for death.
"It’s time. Again," Lu Yin ordered while unleashing his inner universe and commanding Yu Shan to enter the Champions' Stage Purgatory.
Yu Shan looked miserable. His previously indifferent demeanor and his handsome face had transformed into a picture of helplessness and despair. "Lord Lu, you really can’t learn it. Only the High Seraph can open the Nine Heavens for a person, and given your strength, you don’t need to bother learning the Nine Heavens Transformation. Why try so-?"
Before the man could even finish speaking, he was thrown into Purgatory and forced to relive the cycle of karma.
Lu Yin refused to believe that he could not learn the Nine Heavens Transformation. As he continued to observe the cycle of karma, he was starting to see hints of progress.
Wait, the spirit seeds! I almost forgot about them.
He felt uneasy about keeping the gathered spirit seeds stored on Boundless, so he released his inner universe to store them there. Wait, what happened to the ones that I already had stored?
Lu Yin’s eyes snapped open, and he stared at the landmass in his inner universe.
If he remembered correctly, the Sima Chamber of Commerce had given him trillions of spirit seeds, which he had stored on the landmass, but where had they gone? In the place where he had stored, he now saw enough liquid to fill his palm.
Lu Yin stared at the liquid. Could it be what remained of the spirit seeds?
He had never heard of such a thing. How could the spirit seeds have transformed into a liquid? Lu Yin’s eyes flickered as he released Yu Shan from his Champions' Stage Purgatory again.
The man panted to catch his breath while trembling with fear. His emotions had grown numb.
"I have a question for you: can spirit seeds turn into a liquid?" Lu Yin stared at Yu Shan with a piercing gaze.
Yu Shan looked confused. "A liquid? Of course not. When a spirit seed enters a person’s body, it either shatters or gradually replaces their flesh by being cultivated. Then, when that process is completed, they experience a Spirit Rebirth, either taking on the form of a human or a beast. That rebirth is what happens when an individual merges their spirit seed, body, and the power that they have cultivated. Even the innate gift or spirit weapon that appears from a Spirit Transformation are a result of cultivating their spirit seed.
"Where is this about a liquid?"
Lu Yin’s brow furrowed. "What about before a spirit seed enters a person’s body?"
Yu Shan replied, "Then it’s just a spirit seed. They don’t change. They can’t become a liquid. Even if a seed shatters, they merely dissipate, just like the people who die while reciting the Everstone Discourse. They turn into specks of light before disappearing."
"What if a spirit seed becomes a liquid? And not just one, but many spirit seeds become liquid? What would that mean?" Lu Yin asked, continuing to press the matter. He felt that he was on the verge of touching upon something, though he could not seem to quite grasp what it might be. Was it important? He could not say.
Yu Shan’s expression suddenly changed. "Where did you see this?"
"I’m the one asking you." Lu Yin’s eyes bored into the other man.
Yu Shan’s face grew pale. "I don’t know. No one has ever considered such a thing. The question you’re asking is like asking why the megaverse isn’t made of liquid. How could something like that even be possible?"
Lu Yin stared at Yu Shan. This question about the spirit seeds seemed to go against the common understanding of the people in the Spirit Nidus.
Lu Yin was from the Tianyuan Megaverse, which meant that he was open to entertaining countless speculations regarding spirit seeds. In contrast, for the people of the Spirit Nidus, spirit seeds were just that. They were the seeds that started a person’s cultivation, merged with their body, and then started a transformation with a Spirit Rebirth. There was nothing more to them.
In a similar manner, the people from the Spirit Nidus might feel puzzled by stellar tribulations if they visited the Origin Universe. People even from other universes in the Tianyuan Megaverse had once questioned what had been regarded as common knowledge within the Origin Universe, not understanding why stellular tribulations were considered a natural occurrence there.
It was often too difficult to explain common sense to someone without it.
Lu Yin looked away. "If spirit seeds liquefy, will that mean the cultivators in the Spirit Nidus are unable to use them?"
Yu Shan let out a long breath. When he spoke, he sounded helpless. "So that’s your plan. If the seeds can become a liquid, then yes, you would be correct. Otherwise, even if you take all the spirit seeds from the Spirit Nidus and destroy them, they’ll simply reappear. If you don’t destroy them, they’ll either be taken back by the Spirit Nidus or destroyed. Regardless, the Spirit Nidus will still eventually get them back one way or another.
"However, it’s absolutely impossible to turn spirit seeds into a liquid.
"There might not be anyone currently studying spirit seeds, but long ago, there were constantly people performing research. Everyone knows the results, as they found nothing. In the past, there were many curious people, but that curiosity has been erased. There's no need to study spirit seeds as nothing can be done to them."
Lu Yin sent Yu Shan back into the Champions' Stage Purgatory and refocused on his inner universe. There was no doubt that the liquid had appeared after the spirit seeds transformed.
But why?
It was impossible for the people from Spirit Nidus to do anything to the spirit seeds, so why was Lu Yin able to do something? He had not even done anything at all, simply storing the spirit seeds in a place where they could not be taken by the people of Spirit Nidus.
As Lu Yin stared at his inner universe, he fell deep into thought.
In the Wisdom Domain, the first sequence powerhouse stepped up to Everstone.
The man’s face was weathered, and his eyes were calm. Affection could be seen as he stared in one direction. Then, without speaking a word, he sat down cross-legged and started reciting.
No weaker cultivator said a word, as none of them were able to recognize the man.
Sequence powerhouses could live for a very long time. In particular, any who participated in the Everstone Discourse and was approaching the end of their lifespan would not be recognizable to weaker cultivators. They were only recognized by a few Spirit Ancestors and other sequence powerhouses.
"That’s Fengzhong Laogui."
"I’m not surprised. Senior Fengzhong is in his twilight years. I was actually expecting him to participate and help the younger generations."
"It seems that the Fengzhong clan will receive the Wisdom Domain’s favor. Be polite whenever you run into anyone from the Fengzhong clan in the future."
"Farewell, old friend..."
While a sequence powerhouse’s recitation of the Everstone Discourse produced a far stronger phenomenon than any of the Spirit Ancestors, the commotion throughout the thirty-six domains was greatly reduced. The only ones who could even hope to benefit from a sequence powerhouse’s insights were Spirit Ancestors or Spirit Warriors at the minimum. Such individuals were rare experts, and they rarely gathered together. They sought quiet places for their training, and even when they received enlightenment or insight, they would not reveal a strong reaction. These people had already seen the rise and fall of civilizations.
