Star Odyssey-Chapter 3584: Desperate Moves
Chapter 3584: Desperate Moves
The sight of the copper coin caused Luo Shan's expression to fall.
He had once considered Astral Anura to possess unattainable strength. After all, the toad was a Dukkhan. However, after coming into contact with the beast, Luo Shan had realized that he was still nothing more than a toad. While much stronger than him, Astral Anura was nothing but a toad.
Countless copper coins were thrown at Emperor Wu, who casually waved a hand and shattered them all, tearing Astral Anura's sequence particles in half.
Compared to Emperor Wu, the toad’s sequence particles were much, much weaker. After all, Astral Anura’s Law of Pursuit of Survival could not even compare to the self-created destructive sequence particles that the Three Realms and Six Daos had mastered. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Wilderness God clenched a fist. The toad was at his limit. It was time for Wilderness God to step in.
Sovereign Dou Sheng watched with cold eyes, as he also wanted to join the fight. Only by fighting against powerful opponents like Emperor Wu could he break past his own limits. He had only just entered the Origin realm, and he needed an intense battle.
One of the reasons why Lu Yin had agreed to Old Yu’s proposal was because he wanted to use Emperor Wu as a sparring partner for those aboard Boundless. It would be an opportunity for the new Ortusers to get used to their new strength.
Throughout history, who had ever dared to use Emperor Wu as a sparring partner? A single mistake would result in one’s death, and yet Lu Yin dared to do exactly that. Emperor Wu could not kill anyone from Boundless, not as long as Lu Yin was present.
"Wait a bit more," the Origin Progenitor commented. He stepped forward while staring at the distant battle. "Toady is fighting desperately right now. Emperor Wu just touched his bottom line."
Emperor Wu's words had been quite harsh, and not even a toad could tolerate them.
Both inside and outside the Primal Beastland, all eyes were focused on Astral Anura as he fought desperately, but the gap was clearly too great.
Emperor Wu easily tore through Astral Anura's sequence particles. Thus far, Emperor Wu had not even moved a single step. His arm snapped forward, and his attack seemed to freeze time. Instantly, Astral Anura was sent flying. The toad had absolutely no chance to dodge. His steel fork was shattered by the attack, and cracks started spreading across the toad’s body as he went flying.
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. While this palm strike was not enough to kill Astral Anura, the toad was powerless to fight back.
"Wilderness God, be careful," Lu Yin mentioned.
Wilderness God stepped forward, making his way towards Emperor Wu. It was his turn.
Emperor Wu looked over at Wilderness God and frowned. They really were going to fight him one by one. Fine, he would just break everyone aboard Boundless while seeing how many powerhouses the Tianyuan Megaverse had kept hidden.
Elsewhere in the Primal Beastland, Yi Die and Nine-Tailed Fox looked nervous. They knew nothing about the conversation that had taken place between Old Yu and Emperor Wu, and they merely saw that Boundless was sending more people to fight against Emperor Wu. Upon seeing that one opponent after another was going to be sent out, the two beasts also stepped forward.
Other mountain lords also stepped forward while letting out roars.
"Does the Lord of the Primal Beastland intend to break Boundless alone?" Jiu Weihu asked as she appeared beside Emperor Wu.
Yi Die commented in an indifferent tone, "The Primal Beastland is not without its people. There are billions of beast-form Spirit Rebirths who are willing to live or die with this domain."
Emperor Wu coldly replied, "That’s not needed, and now is not the right time. Lu Yin won't do anything right now, so even if I defeat everyone else aboard Boundless, what does it matter?"
"Their Third Boss won't get involved?" Jiu Weihu asked in surprise. They were the most wary of Lu Yin, but if he did not step forward, then who on Boundless could challenge Emperor Wu? Where was their confidence coming from?
"Step back. After the Day of Offering, I will fight him, so just consider this a warm-up." Emperor Wu's bloodlust had cooled dramatically. There was no need to wage a battle to the death with Boundless at this moment.
Jiu Weihu and Yi Die exchanged glances before silently withdrawing.
If Emperor Wu was correct, then this battle would not cause much of a commotion.
Had there been an agreement between Emperor Wu and Lu Yin?
"Should we call Old Salamander out? There's no need for him to take any risks," Jiu Weihu asked with a smile.
Yi Die shook his head. "That old guy should also contribute. While he won't fight this time, there will be another battle after the Day of Offering. If Emperor Wu is defeated at that time, we will need someone to lead the Primal Beastland."
"Old Salamander has already been defeated once, which means he can never become a Seraph," Jiu Weihu reminded.
Yi Die replied, "That was in the past. Since he dared to claim that he would protect the dignity of us beast-form Spirit Rebirths, he should have some measure of confidence. He can’t have lived for so long for nothing."
"Let's hope so."
...
Emperor Wu focused on Wilderness God, who was an astral beast. So that’s it. Since they are facing us beast-form Spirit Rebirths, are they first sending out their astral beasts? Pointless.
If Boundless was going to look down on the Primal Beastland, then Emperor Wu would shatter them completely. After the Day of Offering, he would defeat Lu Yin before challenging the High Seraph. The beast-form Spirit Rebirths were in no way inferior to the human-form Spirit Rebirths!
Right when Wilderness God was about to attack, Astral Anura returned from the distance, his golden skin dazzling to behold.
"It’s not your turn yet!" Astral Anura's eyes were positively blazing. He was originally a vicious beast, but he had suppressed his nature because of Lu Yin. Emperor Wu's comment had brought Astral Anura’s natural personality back out, and he wanted to be a bit ruthless.
Wilderness God frowned. "You can stop now."
"Let me give him something special!" Astral Anura opened his mouth and started screaming, "Wa-ya-ya! Split! Split! Split!"
Up above Boundless, Lu Yin turned and looked at the Origin Progenitor in surprise. "Senior, did you split apart the Nine Heavens for Astral Anura?"
"No?" Origin Progenitor was also quite confused.
Everyone stared at Astral Anura, wondering what the toad was talking about. Was he trying to split the Nine Heavens? Wilderness God had not managed to do that yet, so how could Astral Anura? Even if the toad did split the Nine Heavens, it was not yet time to reveal that ability.
"Split! Split! Split..." Astral Anura hissed as cracks started to spread across his body. Blood burst from the splits in his skin. It looked extremely disturbing.
All eyes were glued to Astral Anura. There was no chance that the toad was planning to self-destruct as an attempt to land an attack on Emperor Wu, right?
Lu Yin considered that possibility, but only for a moment before quickly dismissing the idea. It was simply impossible. How could the toad possess that level of pride?
All who were familiar with Astral Anura knew such a thing was completely impossible.
However, those who did not know the toad treated his actions very seriously.
In particular, the residents of the Primal Beastland stared at Astral Anura with new expressions. Astral beasts possessed real bloodlust, and they would often choose to die rather than surrender.
Even Emperor Wu looked at the toad differently. "Do you wish to die for your cause? You deserve respect, but your efforts are useless. The gap between us is too vast. If you are willing, you can join my Primal Beastland as a Grand Mountain Lord."
Wilderness God stared in shock. Die for their cause? How could Astral Anura ever agree to that?
The toad did not even hear Emperor Wu’s offer. The cracks across his body grew wider, and blood covered Astral Anura’s entire body as his eyes spun about wildly. "Split! Split! Split..."
Finally, a cracking sound rang out, which caused many people to believe that Astral Anura was about to self-destruct.
Then, the toad’s skin fell from his body, and it rose up into the sky. Golden light spread out, instantly filling the universe.
Everyone stared in amazement. Shedding his skin? Did toads have such an ability?
Even Lu Yin was surprised. He had never seen Astral Anura use this technique before.
The toad’s skin shimmered a golden color. There were dazzling spots of light flickering on it, and they looked like stars in the golden sky. Despite being a toad’s skin, the hide looked unusually noble and exquisite.
The golden color faded from Astral Anura’s body, and it changed to a dazzling pattern. He stretched his legs up towards the golden sky and started to grab at it. "Grab! Grab! Grab! Grab..."
With each motion, one of the spots of golden light disappeared.
Emperor Wu’s face fell. This was not a self-destruction technique, but rather an innate gift or some sort of technique. This toad was seeking death.
Emperor Wu’s hand rose up, and he threw another palm strike at the toad, and the attack was far more powerful than his first.
"Be careful," Wilderness God called out.
Astral Anura leapt to his feet and lashed out with both arms. "Astral Anura’s Star Plucking Hands!"
The golden light replaced the universe in a brilliant explosion. Not even Wilderness God was able to see clearly. The radiant light swept over Boundless, blocking out the sky as it passed over the mountains and shrouded the entire Primal Beastland. The sky lit up.
Boom.
A tremendous collision rang out as a peak of the black mountain shattered. Astral Anura fiercely pressed downwards. "I want your life!"
The entire Primal Beastland trembled as everyone stared in shock. Emperor Wu was being pressed down.
Up above Boundless, Lu Yin and the others watching were all astonished. Since when did Astral Anura possess such strength? He had instantly overpowered Emperor Wu’s palm strike, but before, the toad had been sent flying by an even weaker attack. Astral Anura’s power had undergone a qualitative transformation.
At this moment, Astral Anura revealed the terrifying power of a Dukkhan. This was a level of strength equal to the Seven Seraphs.
No one had expected to witness such a scene.
No one had underestimated the toad, but they also had not underestimated Emperor Wu. At present, who else in the Spirit Nidus other than the High Seraph and the other Seraphs could hope to overpower Emperor Wu? Even the other Seraphs were unable to deal with Emperor Wu unless two or three of them worked together.
It was already impressive that Astral Anura had managed to endure several of Emperor Wu’s attacks. Emperor Wu was confident that, as long as Lu Yin did not intervene, he could defeat everyone aboard Boundless. But now, he found himself being pressed into the ground by Astral Anura.
At this moment, both those who knew Emperor Wu and those who knew Astral Anura fell silent.
Before anyone was able to react, a howl of despair rose up from the ground. Astral Anura crawled away, panicking. He instantly shot past Wilderness God on his way to Boundless. "It’s up to you now!"
Everyone looked back at the ground. Smoke and dust obscured their view, but as a vicious wind swept through, Emperor Wu reappeared. His expression was miserable as he glared at Boundless, bloodlust filling his eyes. He abruptly threw a palm strike flying through the air towards Astral Anura.
The toad screamed as he dodged.
Bang! Wilderness God met the palm strike, stopping the attack.
From the ground, Emperor Wu stared up at Wilderness God. For this person to block his attack, it was clear that Wilderness God’s defenses were better than the toad’s.
Wilderness God was badly jarred by the impact, and the force of the palm strike sank into his bones. It was far from easy for him to block the attack. After all, this was an attack from Emperor Wu, who had easily overpowered Astral Anura.
Wilderness God was an amazingly powerful expert. He was one of the Three Realms and Six Daos who had once dominated the ancient Heavens Sect era. However, he had been revived, though he was only a Sequence Progenitor. He had relied on his indestructible body to survive for countless years, but he had not cultivated at all during that time. When Wilderness God had first revived, he had been casually defeated by Lu Yin. The only reason why the astral beast could stand up to Emperor Wu was because he had broken through to the Origin realm and possessed the physical might of an astral beast.
He represented the Tianyuan Megaverse’s astral beasts, while Emperor Wu represented the Spirit Nidus’s beast-form Spirit Rebirths. The two were destined opponents.
Astral Anura successfully returned to Boundless. While his body was in a pathetic condition and he had been badly injured, everyone looked at the toad differently now. He had proven himself to be a pinnacle powerhouse who had managed to briefly overpower even Emperor Wu.
"That was impressive, Toady." Ce Wangtian offered a thumbs up.
From behind, the Megalith and the Pridebeast both gave Astral Anura a thumbs up at the same time.
The toad grinned, unable to hide his pride. "It was just a minor matter. Nothing big."
Ce Wangtian laughed. "The last attack you gave Emperor Wu, you didn’t just do that because he insulted you and you were angry. You were also getting revenge on Wilderness God, weren’t you?"
The moment the question was asked, everyone looked at the toad differently yet again.
From what they knew of Astral Anura, such an accusation was not without merit. Astral Anura had infuriated Emperor Wu before leaving him for Wilderness God to deal with. That would certainly serve as revenge for being thrown out front by Wilderness God.
Astral Anura instantly grew anxious. "Of course not! I made that desperate attack for the sake of Boundless! I can only use that technique once in my entire life, and I did it for Boundless and the dignity of our megaverse!"
Ce Wangtian rolled his eyes. "Who believes that?"
"Can you really only use that technique once? That looked like some kind of battle technique," Chu Yi probed.
Astral Anura grinned, but his smile looked pained. "I can only use it once. That was my life-saving move! You saw how painful it was for me to use. Have any of you ever seen a toad shed its skin?"
No one could argue against that, as Astral Anura’s defense was quite sound.
His argument made a great deal of sense.
