Starting as a Class Five Mutant-Chapter 576
Chapter 576 - 576
From the portals emerged an endless stream of warriors, soldiers, and high-tech aircraft.
Famous superheroes were among them—Captain America's old friend Bucky, the Winter Soldier, the Scarlet Witch, and even the Valkyrie, one of Asgard's last survivors.
Also arriving were many spellcasters from Kamar-Taj.
Logically, once they passed through these portals, they were supposed to immediately face Thanos and his army.
A fierce, grand-scale battle was supposed to erupt!
But the scene before them was far from what Valkyrie and the others had expected.
There was no sign of Thanos or his army—only calm, quiet peace.
After a long moment of silence, someone finally broke.
"Where's Thanos?"
"What's going on?"
Everyone looked around, completely baffled.
...
Avengers Headquarters.
Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, Captain America and the others clearly saw the overwhelming scene outside.
Besides shock and astonishment, they weren't quite sure how to handle this sudden development.
At that moment, Doctor Strange waved his hand and opened a portal to the outside.
He stepped through.
Seeing this, the others thought for a moment and followed one by one.
Soon, the anti-Thanos army stood face to face with Strange and the Avengers.
Among them, the Scarlet Witch, hands glowing red, couldn't hold back her fury.
"Strange, what is going on here?"
"Where is Thanos?!"
Her eyes flared with hatred.
She loathed Thanos with every fiber of her being—for taking everything from her.
She had sworn to kill him, no matter what.
Not far away, Black Panther also frowned. "Strange, what's the situation?"
Countless questioning eyes fell on Doctor Strange. Even the Avengers beside him looked toward him in confusion.
Realizing there was no longer any way to hide the truth, Strange took a deep breath and began to explain.
"I used the Time Stone to see countless possibilities..."
Strange recounted how he had seen over 14 million futures, and only one where they won.
During his explanation, he laid out the Avengers' original plan in detail.
When he reached the part about how their time-traveling quest to gather the Infinity Stones would also inadvertently attract a past version of Thanos, everyone was stunned.
Their gazes slowly turned toward Nebula.
According to Strange's description, it was due to the past version of Nebula infiltrating the timeline that Thanos and his army had managed to travel to the present.
"Thanos's other adopted daughter, Nebula?"
All eyes turned to the blue-skinned, cybernetically enhanced woman.
Feeling their stares, Nebula instinctively took a step back and gritted her teeth. "That has nothing to do with me. I don't know anything about it!"
She quickly added, "I never split off from the rest of the team!"
At that, the Avengers immediately stepped in to defend her.
"She's right—Nebula never left our side."
"I can vouch for that."
"So can I..."
Natasha and the others spoke up one after another.
With that, the confused gazes turned back to Doctor Strange, waiting for his clarification.
Strange, visibly puzzled, turned to Nebula and the team. "You didn't split up when collecting the Stones?"
Black Panther and the others were just as confused, but Captain America quickly caught on.
He explained, "Originally, that was the plan. Thor and Rocket went for the Aether. Barton and Natasha went for the Soul Stone..."
He paused for a moment, then continued, "According to the original plan, Rhodey and Nebula were supposed to retrieve the Power Stone. Maybe..."
"...something went wrong during that part. Maybe Thanos's people discovered her."
At that, Natasha, Thor, and the others exchanged looks as things started clicking into place.
Even Nebula seemed to realize something.
Black Panther and the rest were momentarily stunned.
Doctor Strange furrowed his brow. "Wait... 'original plan'?"
He instantly realized something had changed—something during the mission to retrieve the Stones had deviated from what he foresaw.
That must be why this unexpected outcome had occurred.
But the more he thought about it, the less it made sense.
In theory, everything should've unfolded as expected. So what had the power to alter the future—even the one predicted by the Time Stone?
Strange was both alarmed and bewildered. He couldn't believe there was something that could interfere with the vision of the Time Stone.
"What exactly did you experience?" he asked gravely.
Scarlet Witch and the others also looked on in confusion.
At that moment, an image appeared in the Avengers' minds—a mysterious white figure.
Captain America thought for a moment and said, "Our original plan was just as you described, Strange. But during the mission, something went wrong. Our travel was disrupted."
"There was... a strange force in the Quantum Realm that interfered."
At that, Strange and the others were visibly stunned.
A mysterious force?
What could do that?
Some people in the crowd didn't know much about the Quantum Realm, but others did.
From among the anti-Thanos army, the newly resurrected Wasp couldn't help but speak up in disbelief, "That's the Quantum Realm. There's no way anything can affect it!"
"Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"
Captain America and the others shook their heads.
He continued, "Because of that force, the time and location of our arrival were altered. All of us ended up in the same place."
This revelation shocked Wasp and the others.
Doctor Strange frowned and asked, "And then what happened?"
The Avengers glanced at one another.
As Black Panther and the rest began to grow impatient and even more puzzled, Ant-Man Scott had no choice but to speak up.
"What happened next... might be a little beyond what you're expecting. But I swear—it's all true."
That statement stunned everyone.
Beyond their imagination?
What could possibly be beyond their imagination?
They had no idea...
