Stranger Danger-Chapter 1202: Thirty Six Gods Rises From A Finger
Chapter 1202: Thirty Six Gods Rises From A Finger
Of course, the Four Renegades were just a ruse. There was no chance they would be able to kill Ye Qing. Their main function was to carry the many poisons implanted by the Ghost Doctor to their target and transmit them via touch or inhalation.
The reason they forced the Four Renegades to engage Ye Qing in a hopeless battle was also to quicken his blood circulation and shorten the time the poisons took effect.
These poisons were beyond deadly, but they were extremely hard to detect and even harder to eliminate. By the time Ye Qing realized what was going on, it would already be too late.
Ye Qing had fought against Zhao Changming and won, and she, the Shopkeeper of the Westwind Inn of Snowview City, knew better than most that even a Sage would have to spend a not insignificant amount of time and effort to kill the Brocade Shirt Marquis. Therefore, she could not treat Ye Qing like her usual targets.
That said, Ye Qing ultimately wasn’t a Sage. He had to have paid a price to kill a warrior as formidable as Zhao Changming. She did not think that he would be able to heal from his injuries in just two days.
She preferred to attack a problem from many angles at the same time. Assuming everything went according to plan, Ye Qing would both be injured and badly poisoned. All she needed to do then was to reap the rewards.
If her target died from his injuries, then all was well. She wouldn’t need to do anything.
If not, he would still become much weaker and vulnerable. She would then step in and finish the job.
She was the third and final step of this setup. As a Great Trueman, it was all too easy for her to kill a poisoned and weakened warrior.
To be honest, the plan was well thought out and perfectly executed.
There was just one problem. She had imagined many ways the plan could go wrong and prepared accordingly, but she never imagined that the very first step of the plan, the part where Ghost Doctor’s poisons would debilitate her target, would fail absolutely.
Sometimes, to fall one step behind was to fall forever behind.
Sometimes, some mistakes were permanent and irreparable.

Not only did Ghost Doctor’s poisons fail to take effect, the young man had fully recovered from his injuries. In other words, she was going up against a monster who could kill even the likes of the Brocade Shirt Marquis at his full strength. Even if she was a Great Trueman, even if she was the Shopkeeper of Westwind Inn, she wasn’t confident that she could take him on.
So, she threw in the towel.
Upon hearing her declaration, everyone in the restaurant exchanged incredulous glances with each other. If not for the fact that they were afraid, the restaurant would be absolutely bustling with clamor right now.
“Oh? Give up already? Don’t you want to struggle a little more?” Ye Qing smirked.
Two days ago right after he left the Myriad Buddha Town, he had sought out a nearby location to recover from his injuries. The damage he incurred from his battle against Zhao Changming could be summed up in a few words: external, physical injuries and partial true qi depletion. Since his Earthly Sovereign True Body was currently at the journeyman level, and he was empowered by the Profound Yellow Mother Qi no less, this level of injury and consumption posed no problem whatsoever. It had taken him just a single day to recover to full health.
After that, he chose a random direction and walked for about half a day. He eventually arrived at the Westwind Restaurant.
Of course, he didn’t know that he was walking into a Westwind Restaurant. Hell, he didn’t even know about the restaurant or the Westwind Inn prior to entering the establishment. He just wanted to catch some rest and slake his thirst for wine after walking for so long.
He did not bother to disguise himself because he was marked by Zhao Changming’s Undying True Blood. It was only a matter of time that someone discovered who he was and wished bad things on him. That this had happened did not surprise him whatsoever.
He was surprised that the random restaurant he walked into turned out to be a wolf’s den though.
To this, he could only say that fate was a profound thing.
“There is no need. You’re strong, and I am no match for you,” the God Medium replied honestly.
“You’re a frank one.” Ye Qing chuckled. “You don’t look afraid in the slightest even though you’re admitting defeat. Why’s that? Aren’t you afraid of dying?”
“Of course I am. There is no human who isn’t afraid of death,” The God Medium replied calmly. “But I won’t die, because you won’t kill me.”
“Oh?” Ye Qing raised a curious eyebrow and sat down opposite of the God Medium. “And what makes you think I won’t kill you? Do I look like a good person? Or did I do something that made you think that I’m a good person?”
“I have no idea if you’re a good person or not, but I know that I am the Shopkeeper of a Westwind Inn,” the God Medium replied calmly.
“So what?” Ye Qing asked.
“My boss, the Boss of all Westwind Inns, is a Sage. Beneath the Boss are thirty-six Shopkeepers, all of them a Great Trueman or a Great Grandmaster. Beneath the Shopkeepers are one hundred and eight Trueman or Grandmaster Accountants, beneath the Accountants are seven hundred and twenty nine Spirit Master Cooks, and beneath the Cooks are three thousand and six hundred menials.”
The God Medium stared at Ye Qing as she said slowly, “The Westwind Inns and Westwind Restaurants exist everywhere under the heavens, and our intelligence members live in the very walls. There is nothing we cannot do so long as we set our minds to it.”
“Oh, I see. So what?” Ye Qing asked uncaringly while picking up the wine jar on the table and pouring himself a cup of wine. He did not drink it though. Instead, he shook the cup slightly while looking at the God Medium with meaningful eyes.
His reaction caught the God Medium off guard. Shy of threatening Ye Qing outright, she had made the implied threat as clear as it could get. How was he not getting her meaning?
Still, the God Medium explained patiently, “Anyone who challenges Westwind will receive their retribution a hundredfold. Westwind would hunt them even to the ends of the earth.”
This should be clear enough, right?
However, Ye Qing was still swirling his wine and staring at it like it was the most interesting thing in the entire world.
“So? What does that have to do with me deciding to kill you or release you?”
The God Medium remained silent for a short while before saying frankly, “Let Ghost Doctor and I go, and Westwind will let bygones be bygones.”
“Hah!” Ye Qing abruptly set down his wine cup, causing a short, crisp thud that echoed throughout the restaurant. To the others, it was just sound, but to the God Medium? Her fingers shook abruptly, and her face contorted into a look of pain and wariness.
“Westwind, oh Westwind. Is this how you negotiate? How you show your, ah, sincerity? Should I also thank you all for being generous enough to ‘let bygones be bygones’?”
Ye Qing was chuckling, but anyone could hear the dripping scorn and disdain in his voice. The God Medium in particular could hear killing intent thick enough to suffocate her where she sat.
Realizing her mistake, the God Medium hurriedly added, “I can promise that no killer of Westwind Inn will take action against you starting now. No Westwind Restaurant will ever sell any information regarding you as well.”
“Finally, an actual offer.”
Ye Qing rapped his knuckle against the table, his voice still a little scornful. “But can you represent Westwind? You’re just a small Shopkeeper. What right do you have to represent Westwind?”
“I can.” The God Medium let out an internal sigh of relief. “I’m very familiar with Westwind’s Boss. He will give me this face.”
“Oh? Your face must be quite valuable then!”
Ye Qing nodded with a small smile on his face. “Not bad. Not bad at all.”
“I’m assuming that you agree to my proposal then.”
Delight overtook the God Medium’s face. “As proof of my sincerity, I shall swear an Oath of Burden right now.”
“Haha, sure!” Ye Qing let out a chuckle.
Suddenly, he reached out and made a grab for the God Medium.
At the same time, the God Medium tapped the table lightly. As she backed away from Ye Qing, thirty-six miniature people suddenly stood up from the table.
These miniature people were all created from wine. They were about the size of a human hand.
The wine people were small, but each one of them boasted a powerful aura and a thick incense scent. They felt as tall as the mountains, as vast as the oceans, as mighty as the gods, and as deep as the abyss.
