Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 110: Cursed Soul
Azrael thought the ice would be enough to stop Jahosapeth for a few seconds and give him time to move, but Jahosapeth never stopped his swing!
He unleashed the attack and sent a slash across the room that tore the last remaining columns holding up the room to pieces!
Rocks and debris began to fall anew from the ceiling, forcing Azrael to move once more to avoid getting hit by them.
Azrael ran across the frozen ground with his eyes trained on Jahosapeth, and Azrael slowly began to form a plan in his mind.
Jahosapeth wasn't immortal, and it wasn't impossible to defeat it.
The system wouldn't have given him a mission to kill an unkillable being.
That only meant that there was a way to end the life of this creature.
Azrael just had to find it.
Right now, Azrael was stacked with multiple stat boosts from the many artifacts he had used. The stat boost from the [Effigy of Baphomet] and [Golden Shield of Hector] were only increased when Azrael activated the [Frozen Tundra], which added twenty points to all of his stats.
And although his base stats were seriously reduced due to him using the [Shard of Aradite], Azrael could tell that he was far stronger than he had been when the battle started!
He could do this!
Azrael's eyes trailed toward Harold, who was still cowering behind Jahosapeth with the artifact in his hand.
That was what summoned the creature here in the first place, and it was obvious that Harold had to continue supplying it with Essence in order to make sure the fallen angel wasn't dragged back into the Null Zone.
If Azrael could get that away from Harold…
Azrael's eyes narrowed as he ducked under another swipe from the large being. At this point, the entire room that they were fighting in had been completely destroyed.
It was nearly four times larger than what it had been at the start of the fight due to all the walls being destroyed, and Azrael was sure all the commotion must have alerted all the demigods above to what was happening.
Azrael stopped running when he got to one of the last remaining pillars in the room, and he turned to face the giant monster.
All this time, Azrael had been using his newest God Aspect, [Assimilation], to watch and learn how Jahosapeth fights.
The God Aspect allowed him to understand any fighting style just from facing off against it long enough, and Azrael felt clarity ease his mind as all the actions Jahosapeth had taken so far began to filter through his thoughts.
This knowledge of Jahosapeth's move set, paired with the newfound boost gained from the artifacts and God Aspect he had activated, reignited Azrael's desire for confrontation.
And once more, against all his natural instincts to run away, Azrael charged toward the Fallen Angel.
...
Jahosapeth did not understand what drove this mortal.
Was it confidence, or was it foolishness?
There was no chance for his victory, and yet he continuously pushed forward toward his own doom.
But Jahosapeth was not a vain creature.
It was a creature that had been created by his Celestial Lord for the sake of battle and protection, and in the midst of battle, you must show your opponent the respect that is due to them.
They must be defeated with proper dignity.
It was just unfortunate that this mortal did not possess the sense to run from danger.
Jahosapeth rose its lance for another attack, but it was stunned when a pillar of ice encased its weapon, forcing it to stop in its tracks!
The angel slammed the weapon against it's shield, breaking the ice easily, but before it could unleash another attack, another pillar of ice encased it.
This time, the ice wrapped around his hand, and the angel grew irritated as it saw this!
The ice itself was not a problem, but the constant interruptions were preventing it from unleashing its attack properly.
Azrael finally reached the angel and he put his shield up as the angel unleashed a thrust!
The tip of the lance shot toward the shield, but before it hit, a block of ice appeared between them, making it lose momentum as it slammed into the shield prematurely!
Azrael turned, barely avoiding the bash from Jahosapeth's shield when he suddenly realized that he was standing right in the angel's guard. Azrael lashed out with Oathkeeper.
Azrael knew he couldn't kill Jahosaphet from this angle.
After everything he had been through, Azrael knew that there was no chance he would be able to deal a death blow to a creature like this from such a position. So Azrael just wanted to hurt it.
He needed to even the playing field, and the only way to do that was by taking out one of the two weapons that the Angel had!
And that's why Azrael's first instinct pushed him into attacking the Angel's shield arm with a massive swing!
Azrael planted his feet and twisted his hips perfectly as he put all of the force that his body could produce into that one swing!
His sword flashed across Jahosaphet's left arm!
SLASH!
ROARRRRRR!!!
The entire building shook down to its foundation as the Angel suddenly released an animalistic roar that threatened to burst Azrael's eardrum!
Azrael backpedaled in shock as the angel's left arm fell off, along with its shield!
The stump that had once been the angel's hand was smoking with a deep red hue surrounding it, and Azrael looked down to see that the Oathkeeper blade was also releasing a deep glow!
'What the hell?'
Azrael was stunned by the sudden occurrence and tried to understand what just happened.
But Azrael didn't allow his shock to last for long as he immediately threw away the [Golden Shield of Hector] in his left hand!
The [Shard of Aradite] had healed the hand back to its original form, but Azrael didn't dare take off the healing artifact since he knew that it was going to be useful if he ever got injured again!
Azrael slammed his feet on the severed hand of the Angel before he grabbed the large oval shield that was still clutched in its grip!
Hissss~
A feeling like being burnt with acid traveled across Azrael's hand the moment he touched the shield, and Azrael had to grit his teeth and fight through the pain as he hoisted up the large weapon!
…
The user has acquired !?>!@#@
Error…
Error…
Artifact cannot be analyzed.
…
Azrael ignored his system message and tightened his grip on the shield. It didn't matter if he could analyze the shield or not. All he knew was that this shield was stronger than the shield of Hector, and that was enough.
The angel was still roaring in pain as it hugged its stump close to its body.
Its face turned toward Azrael in anger, and it growled when it set its eyes on the weapon that Azrael was wielding.
~That blade. You… how did you receive that blade? The Twin weapon forged by the Lord of Death. You are no mortal. You are cursed. You are a spawn of the devil itself. How dare you face a creature of light with your cursed soul!?~
If Azrael could see Jahosapeth's eyes, he knew that it would be glaring death at him!
Azrael tightened his hand around the [Oathkeeper] and swallowed as he felt his heartbeat accelerating!
This was it!
This was how he could win this fight.
The creature was born from light, and the Oathkeeper was forged from darkness. They were opposites, and so they possessed a weakness for one another.
Using the sword to cut Jahosapeth was the only way Azrael was going to win this.
Azrael slowly began to understand why the system said that it was possible for him to win against such a creature.
If Azrael had been holding a regular katana in his hand, then there was no way he would have been able to cut this monster. Trying to cut it with such a blade would only result in his death.
But Azrael wasn't using a regular katana.
He was using a weapon forged from the Essence of the Death God himself.
He just had to find an opening that would allow him to get a clean hit!
~I shall erase you! I shall send your soul to Limbo and drown it in the River Styx! You do not deserve to be amongst the other immortals! Your spirit is corrupted and your soul is cursed by the Crimson Rot! You are a blight upon the Essence of this world!~
The angel raised its lance, and large symbols slowly began to form in the air in front of it!
Azrael didn't understand any of the symbols, but he could tell that these weren't just regular symbols.
They were runes.
The symbols slowly wrote themselves in the air, forming a wide circle in front of the Fallen Angel.
The runes carved on the creature's lance also began to glow with a deep golden light, and Azrael heard Harold shout from somewhere behind him!
"Wait! You're taking too much Essence! I can't maintain this for long!"
~Quiet, mortal.~
