Chapter 36: Handle It Silently

This woman was one of the heads of the SMD branch in Riverdale, as well as the personal informant of the man being massaged.

She waited patiently for the man to acknowledge her presence, and it wasn't until he hummed again that she spoke.

"There was news of a potential candidate in my city, sir."

The man cracked an eye open, and he turned a slitted red gaze towards the woman! The woman immediately swallowed discreetly as she tried her best not to look away from the man's eyes.

This man was one of the most powerful superhumans alive today, as well as one of the most influential. His name was Tobias Grant, and he was an S-rank superhuman and the Vice-Captain of the BloodRaven guild. His Gift was a mystery to many, since he hadn't had any reason to use it in a long time, but the one thing people were certain of was that it was related to fire and allowed him masterful control over the element.

Tobias raised his hand to stop the masseuse and sat up in bed slowly. He was completely naked, but he didn't bother to hide himself as he stood! He had no shame about his body!

Tobias sat at the edge of the bed and stretched his hand out to the woman, and she handed him a folder.

Tobias opened it to see a picture of Jason wearing his school uniform staring back at him, and then he nodded for the woman to continue as he read through the file.

"His name is Jason Marc, a senior at Riverdale Public School. Raised by a single mother along with two sisters, one of the sisters lives outside the city, and the other is in boarding school. His father has been absent for the better part of a decade, and there have been no relations connecting him to any other superhumans. He was taken into a Red Gate along with three other insignificant parties, and he underwent an awakening within the gate. The other three lost their lives. As of now, it is speculated that he is an A-rank, but he hasn't gone through an official assessment."

Tobias looked up at the woman in surprise. Did she just say A-rank?

"He just awakened today, right?"

"Yes, sir. That is why I came to report directly to you. I believe he might be the one the Madam has been looking for."

Tobias suddenly glared sharply once she mentioned the Madam, and he stood up with an angry look on his face.

"You didn't tell her about this yet, did you!? Did you!?"

"N-No, sir! I didn't!"

The woman raised her hands in surrender as she took a single step back in fear!

Tobias's hands were already starting to smoke, and the woman knew he was a moment away from unleashing his Gift. Tobias had always been very sensitive about the Madam, and he hated it when anyone took anything to her before bringing it to him first. As far as Tobias was concerned, he was more than capable enough to handle any issues before they got to the Madam.

The only thing he should take to the Madam was news of his success!

Tobias made sure the woman wasn't lying before he turned back to the picture and scowled.

"What's his Gift?"

The woman swallowed and got herself back under control before she spoke up.

"Our spy said it was an ocular ability. It induces fear and allows him to see perfectly in the dark."

"What nonsense is this? He can't possibly be the King with an ability like that."

"Well... I-I just thought—"

"It's quite obvious that thinking isn't your strongest feature, Millicent. I pay you to report useful information, not this nonsense. With an ability like that, do you think he would pose a threat to any brawler on the same level?"

Millicent swallowed before shaking her head 'No'. Tobias glared down at Jason's picture again as he thought of the next course of action. Having an ocular ability that only allowed you to induce fear and see properly in the dark was not impressive. As long as someone was powerful enough, they would be able to kill you. Tobias was ready to dismiss Jason completely.

But then he realized that he was being hasty. What was the harm in being thorough? The boy still awakened as an A-rank on his first day, so even if they were sure he wouldn't be the King, they could deal with him so there wouldn't be any accidents in the future.

'I can report to the Madam after it's done, and she'll recognize me for taking initiative. She shouldn't have to concern herself with such lowly nonsense.'

A twisted smile spread across Tobias's face, and Millicent felt very uncomfortable watching him. It wasn't normal to see a naked man smiling while looking at the picture of a young boy.

Tobias was the Vice Captain of the BloodRaven guild that had their base in Greenville. They controlled the entire city, and no one dared to take any action in the city without telling them first, but the only reason he joined the guild was because of the Madam, Katarina Ford, the strongest Supporter in the world.

His entire life was dedicated to ensuring the Madam's wishes came true, and he would do anything, no matter how cruel, to make sure that no harm came to her.

It was this dedication that made him learn the truth about the world and how most of the world was destined to be destroyed. But rather than making him hate the Madam, this knowledge only increased his love for her!

When Tobias learned the truth, he didn't care about what would happen to anyone. The people of Earth were all heading toward their own damnation, and most of them would eventually end up being killed when the Primordial returned, but Tobias would happily watch the entire world burn as long as his Madam was safe. He didn't care if all the humans were killed, so long as he and his Madam managed to survive and live together!

And to keep his Madam safe, he dedicated his life to ensuring that the King never grew into power.

Any person who even looked like they could grow to become stronger than the Five Rulers was immediately killed, and no one ever suspected a thing since Tobias was one of the high-ranking members of the strongest guild in the world, and he was always covering it up!

As far as everyone was concerned, anything could happen inside a Gate, and any superhuman who died in there only died due to a 'freak accident'.

Tobias wiped the smile off his face a few seconds later, and he threw the folder towards Millicent while talking.

"Arrange for the twins to handle it. Be discreet and make sure it happens inside a Gate so no one can track it back to us. Also, make sure you let them know that if they are caught, they will be denounced."

Millicent nodded before she bowed and left the room. Tobias stretched and began walking back to the bed while telling the masseuse to continue her job.

All thoughts of Jason had completely been removed from his mind, and as far as he was concerned, Jason was already a dead man.

...

Jason woke up the next morning more energized than ever before. His eyes snapped open, and he put his hand to his head as he heard the sounds of wolves yipping.

'What the hell is that?'

Jason was confused for only a split second, and then the next moment, he remembered everything that happened the previous day and he blinked in surprise. He raised his hand and clenched his fist, and he felt the intense power that could only belong to a superhuman present within his body.

'I'm a superhuman. I wasn't fucking dreaming. I'm actually a superhuman.'

Jason chuckled internally, and the sound of wolves making excited noises echoed in his head again! Jason mentally told them to quiet down.

'It's too early for this, guys. Keep it down.'
