Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire-Chapter 417: Her Nature
Chapter 417: Her Nature
Sanya, along with Father Rock, Uncle Bent, Aunt Vernice, and Aunt Melanie, returned home as instructed by William.
"Saul won’t let this slide. One thing about that old man is how dedicated he is when it comes to family. I’m sure he’ll do everything in his power to get his granddaughter back. He almost lost Summer, and he won’t lose Carla," Father Rock stated as he weakly sat on the living room sofa.
Everyone gathered with serious expressions. Sanya took a deep breath and muttered, "Nevertheless, I’m glad Rain thought ahead of time."
"Indeed," Father Rock agreed proudly. "I heard about her plan from Alexander. Rain didn’t want to take any risks with Carla. She strongly believed that every possible meeting with that woman would be used to Carla’s advantage. I guess a woman’s intuition really is that strong."
"So you mean Rain saw this coming?" Vernice exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Yes. She already spoke with and coordinated the matter with Sebastian and the hotel security. Rain had everything arranged so that if Carla made a move, we would have all the evidence we needed."
Sanya nodded. She was aware of how Rain planned ahead, which was why she didn’t want to skip this event. She had a strong feeling that Carla would make a move and indeed, the damn woman did. Rain had asked her to make sure William wore the same suit and hairstyle as Alexander.
She smiled proudly at how everything had fallen into place. Recalling the incident, she remembered that the moment a waiter accidentally stained Alexander’s suit, Rain immediately told William to follow Alexander and take his place in the restroom.
Alexander also knew what to do, so instead of heading into the restroom, another waiter, who was one of their men in disguise, guided him in the opposite direction, misleading Carla’s men.
"Wow, Rain is truly someone you shouldn’t mess with," Aunt Vernice commented in awe.
"Do we need to do something? Are we just going to wait here? I’m sorry... I’m just a bit worried," Aunt Melanie asked anxiously, still looking flustered.
Sanya grabbed her hand and said, "Don’t worry, Aunt Melanie. Rain will handle everything smoothly together with William and the rest of their team."
"But she’s the president’s granddaughter. I know the Lancasters are powerful, but Saul Watson is the most powerful person in our country, and he practically has authority over the police, right?" Aunt Melanie murmured.
Sanya shook her head and, with a playful jest, commented, "Ahhh, Aunt Melanie...
Nowadays, the most powerful force is the media and the netizens. You know Clifford, right? And how good our friend is." ƒreewebɳovel.com
Aunt Melanie nodded, and Sanya continued, "Well, by now, he has already spread every video of Carla so that people will know exactly what kind of woman she is!"
"Let’s turn on the TV and watch the news right now," Vernice suggested.
At that instant, Uncle Ben grabbed the remote and switched on the television. As expected, it was all over the news, flashing across every channel as breaking news especially since it involved the president, given that Carla was his granddaughter.
Some of the newscasters were already sharing their commentary on the situation.
"Do you think the president will use his power and authority to help his granddaughter in this matter?" the newscaster asked a well-known analyst who was popular for commenting on current issues.
"Well, he shouldn’t involve himself in this case," the analyst replied. "The president should allow the proper authorities to handle the investigation. I understand that Carla is his family, but as the leader of this country, he took an oath to protect his people and uphold justice. He must do so even if it means standing against his own family."
The room fell into silence as they listened intently to the broadcast. The tension was all over the living room.
"The public is already divided," another news anchor chimed in. "Some are calling for Carla Cartier’s immediate prosecution, while others believe she’s being framed. But with the video evidence surfacing online, it’s becoming harder to defend her."
Just then, their phones buzzed with notifications. Sanya quickly grabbed hers, eyes widening as she read the latest update. "Clifford just leaked another video," she announced, her voice sharp with anticipation.
Uncle Ben leaned forward. "What’s in it?"
She clicked the link, and as the footage played on her screen, Sanya’s face darkened. The video showed Carla in a dimly lit hallway, talking on a phone. Her voice was clear, dripping with malice.
"I don’t care what it takes. Make sure he drinks it," Carla said coldly. "Once Alexander wakes up next to me, everything will be different. Everyone will see us together, and Rain will have no choice but to walk away."
Aunt Vernice covered her mouth in shock. "She really planned to trap him..."
But before anyone could react further, the news anchor’s voice rose, cutting through the air like a knife.
"We have breaking news," she announced. "President Saul Watson has just been rushed to the hospital after collapsing at the presidential estate."
Sanya’s heart pounded. The room erupted in gasps.
"Oh my God..." Aunt Melanie whispered.
The screen cut to live footage of the presidential convoy speeding through the streets, flashing lights and sirens blaring.
"This is escalating too fast," Uncle Ben muttered.
Father Rock took a deep breath and sympathetically uttered, "I feel bad for the old man. His daughter just fell into a coma, and now Carla is making the situation worse."
Uncle Ben nodded solemnly. "Saul Watson may be powerful, but he’s still a grandfather. No man can withstand this much heartbreak at his age."
Aunt Vernice sighed. "But it’s Carla’s own doing. She was given everything, privilege, wealth, power but she chose to ruin lives. And now, it’s finally catching up to her. I still can’t believe that she turned out to be like this. She used to be so kind, so full of promise. How could she have fallen so far?"
Sanya shrugged and couldn’t help but say, "Or maybe she’s just pretending, Aunt Vernice. She’s been lying since she was a child, even taking credit for saving Alexander, a plan she probably intended to continue if she hadn’t been caught. For all we know, it’s just in her nature."
