System's POV-Chapter 954: I Guess I Need To Behave Like A Good Boy
"I didn't expect the Field Marshal of the Central Government to come to pick us up personally," Siri said with a smile. "It seems like he's treating this matter seriously."
Princess Aracelle made no comments in response. She couldn't care less about who was picking her up since it wasn't Zion anyway. All that mattered was that she'd be escorted to Casimir City safely.
Cristopher, Colbert, and the other officers of the 69th Battalion had also come, diminishing the anxiety Siri felt. They were Zion's people, and she was sure she could trust them.
"I believe this is the first time that we're meeting, Your Highness," Tristan greeted Princess Aracelle warmly.
"Indeed," Princess Aracelle replied. "Well met, Mr. Tristan Summers."
Truth be told, Princess Aracelle wasn't the least bit intimidated by the Throne standing in front of her.
As a Princess, she'd been repeatedly exposed to the presence of a Peak Majin Emperor, who could easily pinch Tristan to death.
In her eyes, even the Monarchs of Pangea, the strongest representatives of humanity, were beneath her gaze.
If her father's subjects, who had the Ranks of Majin Prince and Princess, could cross over the Dimensional Gates, Pangea would've already been as good as theirs.
Knowing the ritual the Royal Family was already preparing for before she crossed over, it might only be a matter of time before that became a reality. The ritual would force the Dimensional Gates in this world to mutate again, allowing the truly powerful Jinns and Majins from House Pavareth to descend to the world of Pangea.
However, whether they would succeed or not, Princess Aracelle would still need to wait for a few more weeks to know the answer.
Christopher and the other members of Thirteen's Battalion greeted Siri before escorting them back to Casimir City.
While Tristan didn't know of Siri's true background, Zion told him that it wasn't any less than Princess Aracelle, so she must be treated cordially during her stay in their Headquarters.
The only real problem was Princess Aracelle.
"Your Highness, please wear this mask," Tristan said. "It's an artifact that will lower your presence, as well as change your hair color. There are many spies among the ranks of the Central Government, and we need to keep your true identity a secret."
Princess Aracelle nodded and wore the raven mask the Field Marshal had given her.
As soon as she wore it, her long blonde hair changed into dark brown, and her noble presence diminished a bit.
The mask only hid the upper part, so everyone could still see her pink cherry lips and the smoothness of her face. Even with just half her face exposed, anyone who saw her could guess that a true beauty was hiding beneath the mask.
When they arrived at the city, Tristan took great care to escort them along the route he had prepared beforehand.
This sent them directly to the secret path that led directly inside the Central Government's Headquarters, bypassing the gates being monitored not only by his people but also the spies of the other families.
Several minutes later, Siri and Princess Aracelle arrived at Zion's temporary residence.
The teenage boy had already been moved from the infirmary back to his room, but since he was still not completely well, Sherry was there to take care of him.
The moment Princess Aracelle's gaze met with Thirteen's, she didn't hesitate to walk in his direction and sit beside his bed smoothly as if it were natural.
"I heard you got sick, Zion," Princess Aracelle said as she held the teenage boy's hand. "Are you feeling better?"
"Yes," Thirteen replied. "But my fever might flare up again, so I'm put under house arrest."
"Good." Princess Aracelle smiled as she gave Thirteen's hand a light squeeze.
Cristopher and Colbert gave their Commander one last glance before leaving the room.
Tristan looked at Zion and Princess Aracelle with a complicated gaze before excusing himself as well.
"Well, I hate to be the third wheel, so I'll be leaving as well," Siri bid her goodbye and followed behind the Field Marshal, who had subtly invited her to talk in private.
In fact, Tristan also wanted to talk to Princess Aracelle, but seeing how preoccupied she was at the moment, he decided to talk to Siri first.
"Where's that girl who's always by your side?" Princess Aracelle asked after everyone had left the room, leaving only the two of them behind.
"Sherry went to pick up our lunch from the cafeteria," Thirteen replied. "She'll be here shortly. Don't worry. I asked her to get enough for three people, so you'll also have your share."
Princess Aracelle smiled faintly. She wasn't truly hungry, but she would not pass up the chance to have a meal with the teenage boy.
"Let me take your temperature then," Princess Aracelle said before moving closer to press her forehead to Thirteen's forehead.
A few seconds later, she reluctantly pulled back and looked at him straight in the eye.
"Your fever returned," Princess Aracelle said. "It seems even talking makes you more unwell. You should rest."
"After I eat, I will rest," Thirteen replied. "Sherry is almost here."
As if on cue, the door of the room opened.
With a tray of food in her hands, Sherry approached the bed with steady steps.
She had already been informed that Princess Aracelle had arrived and was staying inside her fiancé's room.
The young lady felt slightly anxious, fearing the princess might take that opportunity to attack Zion during his weakened state.
But when she saw that the two only seemed to be talking, and with no tension in the air, the anxiety in her heart lessened a bit.
"Your face is a little red, Zion," Sherry said as soon as she placed the food tray on the bed.
After reaching out her hand to touch his forehead, she confirmed her suspicion.
"Eat now, then drink your medicine," Sherry said. "It seems the Army deliberately gave you regular medicine so you will recover a bit slower."
"My father-in-law doesn't want me wandering all over the place for the time being," Thirteen said before coughing lightly. "I guess I need to behave like a good boy and stay sick for a day longer."
Sherry smiled wryly before proceeding to feed the young man with the soup she had taken from the kitchen.
She noticed that Princess Aracelle was holding the young man's hand, but it didn't bother her too much.
In her eyes, Princess Aracelle was just like a lovestruck puppy trying its best to get its Master's recognition.
Thirteen ate and finished his bowl of soup before drinking his medicine.
Sherry raised the incline of the bed, allowing the young man to rest without worrying about getting indigestion.
After that was done, she eyed Princess Aracelle and gestured for her to eat with her at the table beside Thirteen's bed.
Princess Aracelle nodded in understanding and ate a meal with Sherry.
The two girls didn't speak to each other from start to finish. Frankly, both of them had nothing to say to each other.
They didn't have any common topic to talk about, and for them, the only thing that mattered right now was Zion's recovery.
Any other issues that needed to be addressed could wait until then.
