Chapter 78 - 77: Yukinoshita Yukino is getting Bullied
"Then it's settled! Our band's style will be pop and blues!"
"Oh!" ×2
Ritsu Tainaka, Yui Hirasawa, and Tsumugi Kotobuki were visibly excited, their enthusiasm a stark contrast to the silent expressions of Shiro Sakamaki and Mio Akiyama.
Shiro opened his mouth to speak but, after a pause, chose not to say anything that might dampen the mood. He wasn't heartless enough to remind them that Yui Hirasawa didn't even know how to play an instrument yet.
He exchanged a glance with Akiyama Mio, and both of them shared the same resigned look.
But the moment their eyes met, Mio abruptly lowered her head. Her ears turned pink as she fidgeted slightly, clearly flustered.
The group had a distinct dynamic, and each girl had her own charm.
Ritsu was carefree and bold, with a tomboyish streak. Mio, while outwardly mature, was painfully shy. Tsumugi carried a warm, composed elegance—probably shaped by her affluent upbringing. And then there was Yui... well, she was a textbook airhead, sweet and sincere, inside and out.
"Hey, don't look so glum! We've got a full band now!" Ritsu declared proudly. "I'm on drums, Mio's on bass, Tsumugi's our keyboardist, and Yui's... eventually going to play guitar!"
She beamed with satisfaction, as if she had orchestrated something monumental.
Mio sighed and bit her lip before finally speaking up. "Ritsu, Yui hasn't even learned guitar yet. Aren't you being a little too optimistic?"
"Not to mention," she added, "we still haven't even gotten her a guitar."
That froze Ritsu mid-celebration. Her head turned slowly toward Yui, who was munching happily on a snack, completely oblivious.
When she saw Ritsu staring, Yui just giggled and scratched her cheek with a clueless grin.
Still, despite the chaos, the light music club now had five members. That alone was a small miracle. However, with Shiro's lack of instruments and Yui's inexperience, there were no actual activities that day. Instead, the group spent the entire afternoon sipping tea and chatting.
At five o'clock, Ritsu finally checked the time and clapped her hands. "Alright, club's over for today!"
Shiro packed up the blank manuscript paper he hadn't touched, waved to the girls, and headed for the door.
"See you all tomorrow."
The others smiled and waved in return.
He made his way down the stairs, passed through the quiet garden, and entered the shoe lockers at the building's front. Just as he was about to change his shoes, he saw someone standing motionless in front of a locker—Yukinoshita Yukino.
Her expression was icy, shoulders stiff, radiating an aura that warned people to stay away.
"Yukino? Why are you still here? It's getting late."
She didn't respond, but her ears twitched slightly. She had clearly heard his voice. And even without turning around, she knew who it was.
Shiro walked up beside her and saw that her shoe locker was empty. Her shoes were missing—and in their place sat a few live spiders.
His expression darkened. That something like this could happen even at Shuchiin Academy was... disturbing.
Despite not being particularly close to Yukino, she was still Haruno's younger sister—and he wasn't about to let this slide.
He quietly released a wave of observation haki across the campus, letting his senses scan the surroundings.
He found her shoes quickly. They were tossed carelessly into the equipment storage room, where a few girls were gathered—giggling, scheming.
Two of them were from their class, but the others he didn't recognize. One, however, caught his attention: a blonde gyaru-style girl—Hayasaka Ai.
Yukino finally broke her silence, her voice cold and controlled. "I'll handle this myself. You don't need to interfere."
"Relax. I'm only helping because of your sister," Shiro replied. "No need to overthink it."
"I found your shoes. Come with me."
Without waiting for a response, he gently but firmly took her hand and started walking.
Yukino struggled briefly, but she wasn't strong enough to break free. In the end, she let him lead her.
---
Inside the storage room, a hushed, malicious conversation continued.
"What should we do with her?"
"Tch, just because she's pretty she thinks she's better than us. She's just Yukinoshita."
"I heard she's close with that exchange student. You think that'll be a problem?" Hayasaka Ai asked, her tone unreadable.
The others scoffed.
"Please. No matter how rich that guy's family is, he's still from another country. This is Japan—he can't touch us."
"Let's humiliate her. Make her strip in the bathroom and take pictures?"
"Too easy. I say we cut her hair. Maybe even scar her face. Let's see how smug she is after that!"
"Yeah! I'll go check if she's found out her shoes are gone—"
BOOM.
The iron door to the equipment room exploded inward with a thunderous crash. A single kick had bent the metal, leaving a deep, unmistakable footprint behind.
Silence fell. All eyes turned toward the gaping doorway.
And standing there was Shiro, his expression calm—but his eyes were ice cold.
