Chapter 519: Why Don’t You Have Your Clothes On, My Lord?

Ye Siheng grabbed her hand, his voice deep, "A’Li, just let your father and brothers go out and tell them you still need to rest."

Chu Hanlin, realizing his earlier words were inappropriate, quickly agreed, "Yes, yes, we’ll go out and explain. You stay here and rest."

With that, he hurriedly gestured to his sons, and they left.

Nanli found it strange and looked at Zhi Mi. "What’s going on?"

The fact that she and the prince were practicing dual cultivation was only known to family members, who wouldn’t spread rumors. So why wouldn’t they let her go out and meet people?

Zhi Mi swallowed hard and said, "Well... everyone outside saw the marks on the prince’s body, so now they all know..."

Ye Siheng sighed again.

Nanli’s mind buzzed as she faintly recalled those wild days. Stiffly, she slowly turned her head.

Sure enough, the marks on Ye Siheng’s neck and chest were glaringly obvious.

And that was just what was visible. If he took off his outer robe, his back would reveal a series of scratch marks.

Nanli remained silent for a moment before finally asking, "My lord, why didn’t you dress properly?"

"My fault," Ye Siheng admitted with a bit of grievance, "I didn’t realize there were so many people outside."

Nanli continued, "Who all saw?"

"Prime Minister Lu, Elder Cao, Elder Xu, the ministers of the Six Departments..." Ye Siheng recited from memory.

Zhi Mi chimed in, "Oh, and a few people from the Border Nation too."

Nanli took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, and said, "I seem to have a fever. I should really rest for a few days. I won’t leave the house for at least half a month."

With that, she waved Zhi Mi away, sat back down on the bed, and prepared to pull off her shoes and retreat under the blankets.

Ye Siheng stopped her, "A’Li, the bedding... Let Rainbow change it first, and then you can lie down."

Nanli glared at him. "You really dare let others change it?"

Ye Siheng chuckled and patted her head. "Then I’ll do it."

Just as he said this, Nanli’s stomach growled.

Having already endured the most embarrassing moment, she didn’t feel much else now.

"My lord, did you ask Rainbow to prepare some food?"

"No, my brother dragged me into the room," Ye Siheng replied, his eyes soft. "I’ll go out and arrange it."

"Alright then, I’ll change the bedding myself," Nanli said.

Ye Siheng’s face turned serious. "You’ve been exhausted for four days. This is something I should do."

"My lord," Nanli said, unsure how to respond, "can we never mention these four days or today again?"

It’s natural for a couple to consummate their marriage, but the problem was that others knew she was injured, and yet they had been at it in the room for four days. She felt she had lost all face.

Ye Siheng smiled, "As you wish."

His A’Li was thin-skinned, so he needed to remind his brother and Prime Minister Lu not to breathe a word of it.

Before heading out, he told Nanli not to touch the bedding and wait for his return.

Fortunately, his father-in-law was quite capable. In no time, the courtyard had cleared.

He sighed in relief.

Rainbow and Chunbao finally managed to make their way in. The two had grown more worried by the day, their eyes swollen from crying.

"My lord, Marquis...," Rainbow stopped herself, correcting her address, "The duke said the princess is fine but needs a few more days of rest. Is that true?"

"It’s true. Go to the kitchen and have them prepare some of A’Li’s favorite dishes," Ye Siheng said, thinking about how much energy Nanli had expended. He added, "Ten dishes and one soup."

Rainbow, now reassured, quickly headed off.

Ye Siheng turned to Chunbao. "Where is Qingyang?"

"Brother Qingyang was injured and is resting in his room," Chunbao explained, adding, "If you need anything, my lord, I can call Brother Qing Feng instead."

Ye Siheng frowned. "Why has he returned?"

Qing Feng had already boasted about his loyalty and exploits to Chunbao, and she relayed the stories to Ye Siheng.

However, after following Qing Feng for many years, Ye Siheng was well aware of his subordinate’s nature.

He scoffed, "Nonsense. He’s the type to miss meals because of training? And at the Wu family’s place, he was completely useless."

One hit, and he was out cold.

Chunbao, who had admired Qing Feng, now felt her enthusiasm dampened. "So... should I still call Brother Qing Feng over?"

Ye Siheng sighed, hands behind his back, "Let him come."

After all, Qingyang was injured.

As Chunbao went to fetch him, Ye Siheng returned to the room to change the bedding. He noticed Nanli applying medicine to the Evil Bees and was intrigued.

"Aren’t these the Border Nation’s Eight Paws Evil Bees? How did you get them under your command?" Ye Siheng asked.

The Evil Bees were surprisingly well-behaved, even lining up in order without pushing ahead.

Nanli answered casually, "It was unexpected. They insisted on following me, wanting to acknowledge me as their master, so I accepted them. I even ended up as the ruler of the Border Nation. By the way, from now on, you’ll be handling Border Nation’s affairs."

Ye Siheng thought he misheard.

He put down the bedding, and in a flash, he was in front of Nanli. "Did you just say you became the ruler of the Border Nation?!"

His sudden movement startled the Evil Bees, who scurried back in unison.

So scary--the aura this man exuded was terrifying.

Nanli noticed it too and gave Ye Siheng another look. "It seems like you have some ability to suppress demonic creatures."

Ye Siheng didn’t care about that.

Sitting down anxiously, he said, "Never mind that. Why did you become the ruler of the Border Nation?"

Nanli gave him a brief explanation.

After listening, Ye Siheng fell silent.

A moment later, he said, "Actually, you’re just like me. I suddenly gained a Golden Core, and you unexpectedly became a ruler. To others, both things are unimaginable."

If he had known how revered the Evil Bees were in the Border Nation, he would’ve tried to tame them himself.

But now there was a problem.

"My dear A’Li, the affairs of Mu Nation are already overwhelming. And now you want me to handle Border Nation’s matters too? How can I manage it all?"

Nanli blinked and said, "Let’s see how capable the Border Nation’s Prime Minister is. If he’s good, I can just be a figurehead and won’t have to deal with any of it."

"A figurehead?" Ye Siheng was confused. "Can you really do that? You’re their ruler. Will they allow it?"

"Why not? As long as the Evil Bees are with me, they’ll do whatever I say," Nanli replied. "If you want to take on more responsibilities, I can have the Prime Minister follow your orders."

Ye Siheng immediately straightened up. "You being a figurehead sounds like a great idea."

He resumed changing the bedding.

Not long after, the food from the kitchen arrived.

Rainbow was very thoughtful. Knowing Nanli would feel embarrassed, she had the maids wait outside the main house while she and Chunbao brought the dishes in themselves.
