Chapter 55: 56. The child’s father

“How could you possibly know that? Have you tried it before?” Michael Gordon frowned and stared intently at her, his eyes serious, devoid of the usual teasing and frivolity. “Did I ever sleep with you and not take responsibility, causing you to be so dissatisfied the first time we met?”

Michael really couldn’t understand why Ivy had been so angry when they first met. After spending some time together, he could see that Ivy was not an unreasonable and rude person. So the only possibility was that they knew each other? Or, perhaps knew each other more than just as acquaintances?

“Do you think I can afford to sleep with you?”

Ivy looked at him with an intense gaze while tilting her head back, only she knew how fragile her facade of calmness was.

After a moment of eye contact, Michael chuckled, “Tonight I’m free. You should be able to afford that, right?”

“You’re too heavy. Even if it’s free, I can’t afford it!” Ivy rolled her eyes at him, grabbed her bag, and walked towards the living room.

After only taking a few steps, Michael’s teasing laughter followed, “How about if I’m the one who pays you?”

Huh, pay her?

Ivy was too exhausted from the day to bother with him, she realized she had come here spontaneously and had not brought any change of clothes or cosmetics. It was late, and the ancient town outside was quite primitive, with no major commercial streets in sight, leaving her with no choice but to make do for the night and figure something out the next day.

Both of them were tired from traveling. After calling customer service and having dinner, Ivy started pondering whether she should sleep in the living room or the study. It seemed like the study might be better, but there was no sofa there, making it a dilemma!

Taking advantage of Michael working on his computer, Ivy quickly took a shower.

As Michael looked up from his computer, he saw Ivy exiting the bathroom with her wet hair and wearing her original clothes. He couldn’t help but frown, “You didn’t change your clothes after showering, at least you could have dried your hair!”

Uh?

“I couldn’t find the hair dryer!”

Ivy replied naturally and grabbed a towel to dry her damp hair. She had searched all over the bathroom but couldn’t find a hair dryer. Well, it was still early.

Hearing her words, Michael’s face darkened he walked into the bathroom without a word, and then threw the hairdryer to her.

How did this woman manage to survive all these years without even being able to find a hairdryer at home? It must have been her nanny who took care of her, not the baby.

Uh, she really had searched for it for quite some time.

Ivy was only halfway through drying her hair when she began to feel something was wrong. Her lower abdomen felt a dull pain, like pinpricks, slowly spreading to her waist with a tingling sensation.

This isn’t good. Could it be…?

After counting the days, she only had a few more before relief. Before she could finish her thought, someone grabbed the hair dryer from her hands.

“Are you planning to dry your hair until midnight with your speed?” Michael took the hair dryer and started to help her dry it, “I still want to sleep!”

Ivy stared blankly, the big CEO who was always taken care of by her was now drying her hair late at night?

When someone offers kindness for no reason, they’re either up to something or trying to take advantage.

“Michael Gordon, what are you trying to do?” Ivy instinctively hugged her chest and looked at him warily, preparing for a fight.

Seeing her exhausted appearance, Michael originally planned to finish drying her hair before thinking about anything else. However, watching her defensive behavior, he threw the hair dryer out and gave her a wicked smile.

Before Ivy could react, his heavy body suddenly pressed down on her, causing her half-dried hair to spread out on the light-colored sofa, like an exploded, pure lily flower.

In a moment, Ivy’s lips were sealed, and as soon as she tried to open her mouth to curse, Michael seemed to know, taking the opportunity to invade her mouth passionately.

Her mind went blank, all her senses filled with the hot, overpowering male presence, but with nowhere to release the erotic tension brewing within her.

Subconsciously, Ivy tried to push him away, but her hands lacked strength and she couldn’t budge him. Memories swam in her mind of an encounter six years ago, or perhaps even longer…

A boy kept appearing and disappearing in her thoughts, but she could never clearly see his face!

This time, terror didn’t grip her imagination!

As Michael continued to press down on her, Ivy began to feel not only suffocated but also a sharp pain in her lower abdomen that grew increasingly intense. Eventually, cold sweat broke out on her forehead.

“What’s the matter? Is your body so sensitive that you can’t control yourself after just a little kiss?”

Just when Ivy thought she would suffocate from his kiss, Michael released her. He wiped the sweat from her forehead while teasing, “You seem to not be able to hold back anymore? Shall we take this to the bed? Hm?”

“You, b*stard, always thinking everyone else is just as much of a beast as you are!”

As soon as she uttered those words, the stabbing pain in her lower abdomen became uncontrollable. With no time to worry about the man standing in front of her with lustful intentions, Ivy couldn’t help but press her hands against her belly, trying to alleviate some of the pain.

“What’s wrong?”

Even with his slow reaction, Michael knew she wasn’t losing control because of their previous encounter.

However, when he reached out, Ivy immediately brushed him away and rushed into the restroom like an arrow, slamming the door shut.

Michael squinted at the closed bathroom door, first frowning slightly then having a moment of realization. Could it be…?

After a while, Michael saw the bathroom door still shut and knocked on the door fiercely.

“Ivy, what’s going on?”

“I… I’m fine!”

The annoyed voice from inside mixed with a hint of pain; it didn’t sound like she was fine at all.

“Did you get food poisoning?”

Michael, who had spent thousands of dollars on a single meal, believed that they couldn’t possibly have upset stomachs from the food. Is Ivy’s stomach more delicate than his?

When there was no answer from inside, Michael’s frown deepened, and a sense of panic rose in his heart. “Ivy, are you allergic to anything? Is there something you can’t eat, like seafood or…”
