Chapter 38: SC : Our Bond (7)

"... my mark... pack..."

"... time... helps you..."

Eir woke up again when she heard voices around her. Eir got up from her lying position as soon as she opened her eyes. Her movement made the conversation she heard stop. Hakan, Val, and Zen, who were in her room automatically looked at her.

"Eir."

Eir smiled. She knew she had worried her brothers for the past few days.

"Brother."

It only took one word to make Val and Zen look relieved. Val approached Eir without hesitation. Her hand patted Eir's head once and then rubbed it.

"How are you today?"

Eir always liked it when Val spoke to her in a gentle tone. Eir smiled. She felt really good after Hakan officially marked her.

"Amazing."

"That's incredible. I'm happy for you."

Val felt like a great weight had been lifted off his chest. He stared at Eir's face, which had regained its color. Nothing could describe how grateful Val was that Hakan was always there for Eir when her sister was having a hard time.

"Hakan said you haven't eaten anything. I've asked the chef to cook you some soft food. It'll help your digestion."

Eir turned her head as Zen spoke, seemingly wanting to check on him but too embarrassed to do so. Eir's relationship with Zen was not like hers with Val. Eir often clashed with Zen. Which if Eir remembered, was mostly because Zen wouldn't stay silent when he saw her childish behavior.

"Brother."

Zen was surprised when Eir called him that. The expression on his face changed. There was a trace of emotion and longing when Zen looked at Eir.

"I'm sorry. And... thank you for being willing to put up with all my actions all these years."

"You-"

Zen swallowed his words again. He looked up to hide the tears that were about to fall when Eir sincerely apologized to him after what had happened. Zen took a deep breath. When Zen looked at Eir again, she stepped forward to hug her sister tightly.

"You don't have to apologize. We're your older siblings. It's our responsibility to protect you and make sure you're always happy."

Zen bit his lip. He was the one who knew best what Eir had gone through since she disappeared through the scar when she was first brought home.

"Forgive us for failing to be the perfect protector for you."

Eir hugged Zen back just as tightly. Eir should have realized that she was always surrounded by people who loved her. She shouldn't have acted out and made those closest to her suffer all this time.

"You've done enough."

Val stroked Zen and Eir's heads when both of them couldn't hold back their emotions anymore after they were honest about their feelings for each other. Hakan didn't want to interrupt the emotional moment. He chose to stay by the side until a knock on the door distracted them.

"Alpha, we just got an emergency message from Tritan!"

Val's expression immediately changed when she heard Duke's voice from outside. Tritan would only contact her for anything concerning Elyna.

Hakan opened the door so Duke could come in. He looked surprised when he saw Eir looking fine. Duke wanted to congratulate Eir. But before that, he brought important news that his alpha had been waiting for.

"Tritan said Luna's cocoon eroded by itself. That's a sign that Luna will soon wake up from her deep slumber!"

Val got up quickly but still took the time to look at the confused Eir. "We'll talk later," he said before he left the room with Duke.

Eir, who heard everything, then glanced at Zen. Zen knew the meaning of that glance. Therefore, he immediately explained everything that had happened since Eir and Elyna were declared missing.

"Then, I have to go check on Luna. Get plenty of rest, Eir. You need it."

"Okay."

After explaining what had happened, Zen finally came out like Val. In Eir's room, it was just him and Hakan again. Eir looked at Hakan, which the man immediately responded to by sitting near her.

"No need to feel guilty. You did great because you still tried to protect Luna in a dangerous situation."

Hakan leaned in close to Eir and gave her a quick peck on her lips. Eir nodded weakly. Although Eir regretted not being able to protect Elyna, she was relieved because they said Elyna was fine and had even woken up.

"Hakan."

Eir spoke again when she remembered Hakan's conversation with her brothers. Hakan looked at her. He was ready to listen to whatever Eir wanted to say.

"Can I know what you talked about with my brother before?"

Hakan smiled. The old Eir would have demanded an answer without any persuasive tone. But the current Eir also looked cute when she tried to find out something without being forced anymore.

"We were talking about you, Eir. You probably guessed it since we met again. But I'm no longer part of the Silver Moon Pack."

Eir nodded. Members of the same pack could recognize each other. Ever since Eir saw Hakan again, she knew that Hakan was no longer part of their pack.

"I'm returning to my original pack, the pack that allowed me to find you. I've promised to be the next alpha. Therefore... you should probably come with me now that I've marked you."

"Is it a dangerous pack?" Eir asked when she saw the worried expression on Hakan's face. Hakan nodded. His expression was grim as he explained everything to Eir.

"That pack is filled with people who thirst for power. Their madness for power makes them reject bonds and choose to do incest to maintain their pure blood like vampires."

Hakan looked at Eir. He wasn't worried about anything other than Eir's willingness to follow him regardless of what kind of pack she would be living in.

"They despise mate. Even so... are you willing to come with me?"

Eir took both of Hakan's hands. "Didn't you say I'm only yours now? I'll go with you anywhere, Hakan," she replied confidently. Who cared about a pack filled with werewolves who were hungry for power? The same pack had helped Hakan find her.

"If they want power... am I not one of the strong ones in this pack? I can train again after I recover. This time, I promise I'll listen to all your lessons properly."

"You don't have to push yourself. I'll protect you."

Eir smiled. She knew Hakan would say that.

"Mn. So, when are we moving?"

Hakan thought for a moment. His parents had been urging him to return. Even so, Hakan intended to delay his return until Eir was completely healthy and ready to come with him.

"Later. For now, shouldn't we welcome Luna back?"

"And don't forget, our new niece."

Hakan nodded. He knew Eir also wanted to make sure that Elyna was okay.
