The Evolution of Genius: Every Night, I Get Smarter!-Chapter 91: First Class
Chapter 91: First Class
I came out of The Observer and asked, "Are you gonna take me to the University?"
The man grimaced, "Yes. But... It’s Mentor, not you... It would be best if you call me as such. I was informed that on your planet they call my position Professor."
I looked at him confused, "Well... I’m also a Professor."
He chuckled and turned around, "Your standards are too low. Now, Follow me."
We proceeded to the bubble elevator, and as it ascended, Mentor Alfredo began explaining were we are going.
Mentor Alfredo mentioned, "The University of Excellence is on the same level as the Science Tower. I’ve heard you’ve already been there."
As we speeded through the dense bubble highways, I looked at Mentor Alfredo, and asked, "So... Is ’Mentor’ the highest title in academia here"
Alfredo looked at me and reluctantly admitted, "No. The highest title is given to researchers who have achievements at the current highest layer in their field."
As we descended at an intersection, he added, "Don’t worry about that. It’s still far away for you. If The Lord has picked you up then you must be quite a genius, but there still lots of work in front of you."
Mentor Alfredo probably didn’t know about the real reason I’m here, so I decided to stay quiet.
We approached a massive tower, which in contrast to all the others, seemed to be made out of bricks instead of metal and glass.
Alfredo said, "I will be teaching you about the forth layer of QP over the next couple sessions... Oh! And there a two students that have passed the entry exam to study with you."
I was taken aback, asking, "Entry exam?"
As we slided into the building and slowly stopped, Alfredo said, "Yes. Don’t be surprised if they have some expectations of you. They were said that it’s a genius class made just for you."
As we exited the bubble elevator, we entered a corridor that seemingly embraced a classic brick aesthetic.
I looked at the walls, puzzled, and asked Mentor Alfredo, "Are these just regular bricks?"
He chuckled, "It is still the same metal as in any other building but it’s interactive"
Alfredo approached one of the walls, tapped it twice, and a responsive display showed up the size of a TV.
"You can change the texture, color, or display any data you would like on these walls."
Reaching classroom number 128, Alfredo opened the door, remarking that some things, like the doors, remained unchanged.
"Come in," he said, inviting me into the really... interesting looking classroom.
As I stepped into the classroom, my attention was immediately drawn to the two students seated at the front.
They appeared to be around my age, sitting behind desks that hovered in the air with no support.
The man was dressed in a dark suit that concealed every inch of his skin, had dark hair with subtle grey highlights. His intense gaze met mine, giving off an air of seriousness.
Beside him sat a girl who was a complete opposite.
With short hair displaying a captivating blend of green and violet colors, she wore... Well more revealing clothes.
Covering just barelly enough, she wore extremely short red shorts, a colorful midriff-baring t-shirt, and a light blue choker around her neck.
She seemed carefree, that’s for sure.
I approached them with a friendly smile, extending my hand first to the girl. "I’m Max," I said.
Milena caught my hand with both palms, beaming with enthusiasm. "Nice to meet you, Max! You can just sit here," she gestured to the desk next to her.
Turning to the guy, I held out my hand again, but he simply stated, "I’m Erik." No handshake. I nodded in acknowledgment and took my seat next to Milena.
As we settled in, Milena leaned over and whispered, "Erik is an ascetic, but he’s brilliant. You’ll get used to him."
Erik remained focused on Mentor Alfredo, who came up to the wall at the front of the room.
With three precise taps, Mentor Alfredo initiated a 3D holograph that materialized into what seemed like a metallic string, forming an intricate chord. Satisfied, he stepped forward, ready to commence.
"I’m Mentor Alfredo," he declared, causing Milena and Erik to tense up.
I guess there was some meaning to the title after all.
Mentor Alfredo explained that he would be guiding ud through the 4th Layer in the coming days.
Turning to Eric, he added, "If you and Milena can’t keep up with Max, it doesn’t matter. I will proceed as long as Max understands it."
Pausing for a moment, Mentor Alfredo continued, "Also, when you reach the 5th Layer, I will not be teaching it to you. Instead, you will be fortunate enough to be taught by the Magnificence Scholar Samuel."
Milena and Eric were visibly shocked. Well... It didn’t ring a bell for me. I didn’t know any Scholars in the first place.
Mentor Alfredo approached the holographic metallic string and asked, "What do you think this is?"
Milena replied, "A string, ofcourse..."
Alfredo nodded and said, "Yes, indeed, it’s a metallic string."
He then reached out, grabbing the holographic string, and pulled it down with his hand. The holograph behaved just like the real thing.
"Now, if I let it go... What will happen? Eric..." Alfredo asked.
Eric calmy explained, "Pulling the string down and releasing it induces elastic deformation from metal tension. This generates waves, producing controlled-frequency sound through resonance, determined by metal properties and applied force. Interaction with air molecules results in the perception of sound."
Mentor Alfredo nodded, "Yes. This is something we usually teach to 5 year old children. However! This phenomenon is what inspired people back in the day to explore the idea of vibrations much further."
I saw parallels with my own research—strings in a different dimension, vibrating with specific probabilities.
So, I said, "Is it about the vibrations comming from a higher dimention?"
Milena and Eric looked at me.
Mentor Alfredo smiled at me and said, "Long ago, people thought spacetime had 10 dimensions—9 for space, 1 for time. The extra space dimensions were supposed to be so curled up into miniature scales, that they were unvisible in everyday live. But strings, ehich existed in these dimensions affected how we see higher dimensions as matter."
After a pause, he added, "We now know that this theory isn’t true. It was proven wrong a long time ago. To be exact, it was disproven about the time that humans were exploring the possibilities of gravitational waves."
He continued, "There were many mistakes in that theory. But! When we found out that the beginning of the universe was controller from a higher dimention through quantum entanglement, people, yet again, searched for an answer to what matter really is."
Alfredo then pointed to me, "Max. You said something about vibrations comming from another dimention. What do you mean by that?"
I answered, "My theory is that whatever happens is predetermined by vibrations coming down to our dimention. Each frequency of vibrations happen at a certain probability"
Alfredo paused for a second and then said, "Max, after class, please come with me to my office. I’d like to check something. If you will be okay with that, of course."
Following that, Alfredo returned to the holographic string and explained, "Scholars started delving into what occurs if the vibrations don’t dissolve in the air but keep layering, particularly exploring the 2D and 1D perspective."
He explained that they created simulations of virtually eternal vibrational waves using supercomputers and later on, they were also able to create self-reinforced vibrations in a physical experiment.
Alfredo then addressed us, "Today, we won’t delve much deeper into this, but I want you to understand what the 4th layer is truly about."
"The entire universe is essentially the result of vibrating waves originating from beyond. At the beginning of the universe, emanating from the point singularity, vibrations emerged."
"This explained many inconsistencies, when it came to how the universe functioned and looked."
In that moment Milena asked, "Does that mean that the vibrations are trapped in our universe?"
Mentor Alfredo looked at her enthusiasticly, "You could say so."
I then added, "Not only that. I think that the vibrations are trying to escape. They are tending to singularity."
Eric who kept a serious expression looked at me, "Why do you think so?"
I answered, "It would explain Gravity. The vibrations seek an exit and heavy objects make them feel closer to it."
Mentor Alfredo waved his hands, "I appriciate your thoughts on this matter, but I will conclude the session there."
I stood up to follow him to his office, but Milena spoke to me from behind,"Max, would you like to grab a drink later? I could explain how things work here."
I noticed Eric looking at her with a disappointed expression.
I replied, "No, I promised to go back home. Maybe next time."
With that said I left the classroom.
