The Extra's Supremacy-Chapter 22: Partners
Chapter 22 - Partners
"So, boy, what are we going to do now?"
Hearing that, Alvin replied without hesitation, "Didn't you say I need to kill a person to live? So..."
He smirked.
"Let's hunt the prey."
The sword gave a soft hum of approval.
But Alvin, shaking his head, asked, "There's something I don't understand. How did the platform suddenly collapse? Was that your doing?"
"Yes, it was me," the sword answered calmly. "I just didn't want to stay in that hellhole for another second."
Gritting his teeth, Alvin said, "Listen. You need to at least warn me before doing things that might get me killed."
The sword fell silent for a few seconds before replying in a subdued voice, "I understand."
Alvin stretched, feeling the soreness in his muscles ease slightly.
"So, how long is our partnership going to last?"
"You helped me escape from the cursed domain of Lumina Obscura," the sword said. "It's only natural that our partnership lasts until we cure your curse."
Taking his first steps into the dark forest, Alvin asked,
"Since we're now temporary partners, I need to know about your abilities."
"I suppose you're right," the sword agreed.
"Listen carefully. I can control the element of earth, although my control is different from humans."
As if a piece of the puzzle clicked into place, Alvin asked, "So that's how you made me enter that domain and destroyed the platform?"
"Yes," the sword replied, sounding a little smug. "Although I can do much more... but I need time to recover the energy I spent on those techniques."
Alvin nodded thoughtfully.
The sword then asked, "What about you?"
Carefully surveying the forest as he walked, Alvin said,
"I can control wind and shadow. But because of my body's condition, I can't use techniques or spells right now."
He paused, then added, "I make up for it with my sigil gift— 'Mana Control'. I'm also proficient with the bow and sword, and I know the basics of spear combat."
There was a brief silence before the sword asked a question Alvin hadn't expected.
"Hey, boy, what is this 'sigil' you spoke of?"
Alvin's steps faltered.
His thoughts raced.
'Don't tell me...'
Every sentient being living in the ruins in the game was supposed to know about sigils and ruins.
If they didn't know, then that ruin is...
"Do you know where we are?" Alvin asked hesitantly.
The sword responded almost instantly, "Of course. We are in the Chandriya Kingdom."
Hearing that, Alvin's breathing quickened.
'This... this is a forgotten ruin!'
One of the ancient ruins that might hold the secrets of the ancients themselves!

As the moon rose into the sky, Lesley sat perched atop a tall branch, lost in thought.
'It's already been five days since I entered this ruin,' she mused.
'And I've yet to find any signs of other beings.'
Her gaze shifted to the lone mountain that pierced the heavens.
"I need to get there," she whispered.
She had been walking toward that mountain ever since she entered the ruin.
And yet, no matter how far she traveled, the distance never seemed to shrink.

Fortunately, her sigil gift—"Mana Sense"—confirmed she was moving forward.
Otherwise, she might have gone mad.
Still, the silence was unnerving.
She hadn't encountered a single soul in all this time.
'Please... let everything go well.'

Some distance away, sitting quietly on a thick tree branch, Alvin and the sword continued their conversation.
"So, what you're saying is we're not on Elyrina, but inside one of the ruins?" the sword asked, still sounding disbelieving. "And you come from another world called Earth?"
Alvin nodded.
"The ruins are graded by their rarity and mana pulse radiation," he explained.
"People can't always tell which is which, but by measuring the pulse radiation, they can predict the ruin's grade."
Ruins were classified into five types:
1. Minor Ruins
2. Hidden Ruins
3. Forbidden Ruins
4. Forsaken Ruins
5. Forgotten Ruins
"Because of the low pulse radiation here, the Council probably classified this as a 'Minor Ruin'," Alvin said thoughtfully.
The sword gave a sharp, bitter laugh.
"Good heavens... never even in my wildest dreams did I imagine my world would turn into a treasure tomb for outlanders," it exclaimed.
Hearing that, Alvin asked curiously, "You can sleep and dream?"
"Ahem, it's just a figure of speech," the sword said, sounding a little embarrassed.
Alvin shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips, before finally closing his eyes and drifting into sleep.
