Chapter 119: 118. Four Dark Horses (3)

The teams which had cleared the mission were already in my team and we were waiting for the remaining two teams to inform of their missions being complete.

"Mission complete!" I heard the shout of Luke’s voice as the clock chimed 4:30 in the morning.

"Good job, Luke. Come back now." I replied to Luke.

"Yes... But, what about others?" He asked.

"Come back first." I said.

"Yes, I will come right away."

I sighed with relief as even Luke was done with his mission.

There would be an uproar in Herot city right now, it wouldn’t be long till it would reach Douglas’s ears that within a night his two major establishments were breached and the ones who were responsible for it were the kids whom he harrassed.

"Luke’s done too, now it’s only Rune." Ralph sighed and Derrick looked at me.

"Will he be all right?"

"He will be fine." I spoke up.

I recalled the time I was sending him off, I had placed the chain which had the Dragon’s Heart’s piece around his neck to make sure that he was safe if any problem arose. It was an artifact that seemed to repel any magic attack casted towards the one who wore it. So, Rune would be safe if any mage attacked him.

"Don’t lose it and return safely to me, Brother." I had said.

"Don’t worry, I will be back."

I sat in my chair waiting, everyone else around me seemed quite tensed as waiting for someone who was risking their lives at the other end was a hard thing to do.

Rune was my brother and my family, I didn’t want him to get hurt, I didn’t even want to send him to that place but it would still hurt his pride as a brother if I didn’t let him deal with the problem of his friend.

We had promised that we would do it together but now he was out there alone in God knows what state.

Douglas was a real piece of work, I had learned of his heinous crimes apart from the assassination of the previous King and his son. He was also one of the closest people to the Queen. So, what I was doing right now was indirectly facing the Queen and my fighter was my own brother.

If anything were to happen to Rune then, I might just forget about everything else and destroy the palace and place Eric on the throne without dealing with any of the hurdles between.

I had told father that I would make sure that we would be safe but what if the worst case scenario that I thought would come true. What then?!

"Do you think he’ll be okay?" Ralph mumbled.

"Be quiet." Derrick told Ralph.

"What if-"

Derrick clamped Ralph’s mouth shut and the two looked at me.

"Master..." I heard Lyall and realised that Nora had stepped off of me and currently the people in the room were experiencing breathlessness and suffocation because of my Dragon’s Presence whipping around like a restless storm.

I sighed as I stood up from my chair and looked at the clock.

Five minutes for five.

"Plan B!" I whipped around to look at the communication brooch.

"Plan B! Plan B!" Rune was shouting.

"Plan B!"

There was a chaotic mixture of sounds coming from the brooch and I couldn’t make sense of any of them.

Just then there was the sound of something crashing and I couldn’t hear anyone’s voice for a while after that before the different voices seeped through.

"Crap, let’s get him out of here!"

"Get them!"

"Protect him at all costs!"

"Argh!"

There were sounds of different people pouring in from the device along with the sound of shuffling and the sound of someone shouting.

There was the sound of explosion which suddenly cut off the sounds completely and I couldn’t help but feel as though the world around me had drowned in static silence.

"What?! What happened?" Ralph shouted.

"I’ll go and see." Lyall said and I picked up the cloak and mask before I used the teleportation device.

"Ma-" Lyall’s voice was cut off as I teleported away and I found myself hovering in the air with the scene of chaos under me. I had put on my cloak which flapped behind me and with the lower half of my face covered.

A part of the mansion in front of me was engulfed in fire with a huge cloud of smoke rising to the dark sky and most of the people below were fighting with one of them running away with something on their back. There were around four to five knights running behind them.

I recognised the person who was being chased and I swooped right in sending several water slicers slashing through the bodies of the knights who were running behind one of my men.

He turned around to see me as he huffed and puffed with his arm bleeding profusely.

"Ma-Master?!" He gasped and I noticed the person on his back and my eyes went wide.

"What happened..." I couldn’t even complete the sentence.

"Douglas’s men... found us and we had to fight, we called for team B... But... it somehow ended up with a large fight. Do-Douglas was there too, it was a good thing that... he didn’t recognise the Young Master but... he took away half the documents with him. Y-Young Master... managed to save some... but he couldn’t do much..."

"More reinforcements... from... his side will be here soon... that’s why I was running away with him."

"Is he..." I looked at Rune’s unconscious form over my assassin’s shoulder.

"He’s unconscious... a slab of rock fell on him... He’s not seriously injured, I dressed his injuries... before we escaped." He explained and I could see his pupils quivering as his body was trembling from overexertion.

"Stay here, I’ll... be back." I said and the man fell on his knees.

"Yes... Yes... Master."

I turned around and sped off towards the mansion where I could hear the sounds of swords clashing and explosives going off.

"Kill them all! How dare these rats enter this place?!" I heard the one who looked like the captain of the knights shouting orders as he slayed my people.

I swooped in and grabbed his throat before plucking him off into the air. The shock made him drop his sword and the knights closest to him stared up at me as I flew up with their captain flailing helplessly under my grip.

"Let-Let go!" He choked and I glared at him as I loosened my fingers.

"Fine," I said and let go making his eyes go wide for a split second before he was falling.

He had tried to grab my wrist before falling but he couldn’t.

I saw as he slammed on the ground creating a huge impact making the ones fighting pause as they saw the person fall from high up.

I created a huge ball of water above me and it acted as a signal for my people.

"It’s Master!"

"Retreat! Retreat now, if you don’t want die!"

"Retreat!"

"Master is here!"

I heard the shouts from my people and everyone started scattering. The water ball in the air changed shape and turned into swords before they shot in different directions.

I saw as the knights belonging to Douglas Clark running around like headless chickens being impaled by the water swords before I activated my Mana Eyes and looked around to spot Douglas.

I spotted him soon enough as he was rushing away in his carriage. I sped off towards his carriage feeling the chilly air making my anger turning even icier than I was feeling.

At times like this, when my blood was cold, did I realise that my body was becoming more of a ruthless Dragon’s, the predator who was at the top of the food chain.

I landed on the roof of the carriage making the horses to neigh loudly and start jumping as my Dragon’s Presence influenced by my emotions was activated on full scale.

"What happened?!"

"Wha-What the hell?!"

"Where did he come from?!"

"Did he drop from the sky?!"

The guards who were on horseback around the carriage looked up at me with shocked expressions.

The carriage was going at an insane speed with the horses in panic now. I wasn’t feeling any need of holding back right now which was basically why when when the arrows flew towards me I let them hit me. Once they hit me and were shattered did the ones who shot knew that it was useless.

"Wha-What is he?!"

I heard the sounds of swords being pulled and I shot the water slicers taking the heads of all of those who were dead set in angering me even more.

I looked ahead and saw the huge boulder which marked the sharp turn and shot the large water slicer chopping the wooden bars and ropes that were connecting the horses to the carriage.

The horses once free ran away while the carriage went and slammed right into the boulder while I jumped up in the air before the collusion.

The carriage was smashed to pieces, the coachman died on impact and the one who survived crawled out of the wooden debris.

I saw him coughing and throwing up blood holding his head and as blood dripped from his wounds. His clothes along with his golden blonde hair was stained with blood.

"Wha..." He coughed and then turned his teary eyes on me.

"How do you do, Douglas Clark?" I smiled with my murderous intent whipping around me along with my Dragon’s Presence.
