The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 316: Family dinner (2)
Chapter 316: Family dinner (2)
Annalise covered her mouth with her right hand to hide her smile. She entered her room after previously leaving to let Rafael get changed in her father’s clothes. "They almost fit you well, but it is funny to see you wearing them. I can’t," she snorted, giving into her laughter.
"Very funny, Annalise. Had you informed me that you wanted me to come to dinner, I would have brought my own clothes. I would rather sit in my armour than these clothes," Rafael said, straightening out the shirt.
He would have preferred if she had bought him new clothes instead of looking for something from her father’s closet.
"Your armour would make dinner more awkward than it needs to be. These clothes do not look bad on you. I am just laughing at how you are acting because they belong to my father. It will only be a few hours and then I will take you back so you can get back into your clothes. Don’t pout," Annalise said, walking to Rafael.
"It won’t be long before we leave here and go to Lockwood to speak with the king. You only need to endure this for now. You don’t need to try hard to make my father like you since it is useless. He’s going to keep hating that I am with you. River’s son," Annalise said, pushing Rafael’s hair to be out of his face. "What did you have your hair tied with? It fell out."
"I will tie it again before we go down. It is soon time to cut it-"
"You can’t!" Annalise exclaimed. "Why would you cut your hair? It is fine the way it is now."
’’Because it is annoying when it gets too long. I need to cut it and let it grow again," Rafael said, turning his head slightly to look at his hair dropping over his shoulder.
He had meant to cut it when he had returned from his last excursion, but there were many things that distracted him. Now, he had the time to cut. Or maybe he didn’t because of the way Annalise was staring at him like he gave her terrible news.
"It is just hair. It will grow again," Rafael said to calm her. He truly did not understand why he had to calm her down about his hair. "It makes me hot."
"Winter is coming soon so it is the perfect time to have long hair to make you hot. Why would you want to cut it when it looks so good on you? If it bothers you, just tie it up. You can do the same when it makes you feel hot. Leave it as it is," Annalise pleaded with him.
During their kiss, she was thinking of how she liked his long hair and now he wanted to cut it. It was like Rafael was attempting to destroy their relationship.
Rafael found it interesting that she liked his hair so much that she was going hard to get him to not cut it, but unfortunately for Annalise, he was not going to let his hair remain this length.
"I am cutting my hair, Annalise. It will grow to this length again. It will as long as I don’t interfere with it. I am not going to bear with it to please you," said Rafael.
Annalise folded her arms. "So this is how we end."
"Annalise," Rafael sighed.
Annalise shook her head, disappointed with him wanting to destroy his precious hair and instead of trying to further convince him not to ruin his hair, she turned around to leave to go down to her parents who had returned.
"Annalise," Rafael called to her, but this did not stop Annalise from leaving. Over the years, he had a few disagreements with women, but it had never concerned his hair.
Rafael sighed once more, deciding to endure it as Annalise said. Sooner or later she would have to get used to the fact that he was going to cut his hair. He considered doing it tonight when he returned to the knights to get it over with.
Rafael walked out of Annalise’s room to follow her since he had nothing to do other than be with her or converse with her parents. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, Rafael overheard Phillip asking Annalise why she spent so much time upstairs.
The moment Rafael walked where he could be seen, Phillip looked at him first and frowned. Rafael didn’t have to guess that it was because of the clothes. Rafael shared Phillip’s feelings since he did not want to be wearing these clothes. If he had the choice, he would have ridden back to get his own.
"Look at you! When I found Annalise searching through her father’s things for clothes, I was worried they would not fit you, but it looks better than I imagined. Have a seat, Rafael. It won’t be long before the food is ready. I don’t want to keep you here late to have you go back home in the dark. Or maybe you can stay here-"
"No!" Phillip yelled, interrupting Celine. He wouldn’t put it past Annalsie to try sneaking into a room to spend the night with Rafael. "I will personally escort him back so he doesn’t get attacked or lost." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"How kind of you," Celine said, annoyed with her husband interfering with her plans. She was trying to spend a lot of time with Rafael to understand why Annalise fell for him, but Phillip was trying to send Rafael away without properly getting to know him. "Phillip, be a dear and help me with something. Now!"
Celine had waited too long for this moment and though the man Annalise picked placed them in a tricky situation, she was going to be supportive so Annalise wouldn’t feel like she couldn’t lean on her parents when she needed some support.
Rafael followed Celine’s order by sitting down at the dining table which offered a good view of the open kitchen. Annalise sat opposite him and did not glance his way. She might not look until he agreed to not cut his hair.
"I am going to cut my hair, Annalise. You can’t always have your way," said Rafael.
"I know that and it is hard to stomach. Please don’t randomly cut it and then show up before me. I don’t want to be startled. What if I cut it for you-"
"I would rather not," Rafael turned down her offer. "I will cut it myself or get one of the knights to do it. I am not cutting it as short as you might be thinking. It is just a little so I am not bothered by it. You can sit near me when I am cutting it to stop me when it gets too short."
Annalise shifted her body in her seat to face Rafael. "I agree to that. I need to enjoy what little time I have with your hair as it is now. I suppose it will be like a future gift to see you back with long hair."
"If that makes you speak to me again, then yes. Now, should we not be concerned about what is happening in the kitchen?" Rafael asked, unable to ignore the conversation between her parents that seemed to be getting a little heated.
"No," Annalise replied, finding it to be normal. "When my mother gets a bit angry my father will calm her and they will act like nothing happened afterward. It is only me who gets to see the truth that my mother is the leader here."
The front door opening interrupted the two conversations.
"Where is the handsome fellow?" Celeste asked as she walked through the door. "Such a nosy crowd out there. Doesn’t anyone need to start cooking or take a bath? They better move since the rain is coming."
