The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 31 - 0: Date Ruined, Master Shi Gets Angry
Chapter 31: 031: Date Ruined, Master Shi Gets Angry
Shi Wei said this, but he didn't turn around, still maintaining his previous posture.
"It's nothing." Yu Zhi slightly lowered her head, the unease in her eyes hidden beneath her long lashes.
In that instant just now, she felt as if her heartbeat had stopped entirely.
Something flashed through her mind, but the inexplicable emotion prevented her from grasping it in time.
Shi Wei looked at the swirl of the young girl's hair and chuckled softly. Only when a blaring horn sounded did he finally pull some distance between them.
But due to his heightened mood, even someone as naturally vigilant as Shi Wei didn't notice the small tail trailing behind them.
The cinema was located near the Shi Family's estate, still quite some distance away from their current location.
Multi-colored neon lights flickered alongside the roadside trees, leaving behind fleeting streaks of afterimages.
After crossing two traffic lights, Yu Zhi sensed something was off.
She stared at the black SUV behind them through the rearview mirror. Confirming that they were being followed, she turned and said, "Turn left at the next intersection."
Shi Wei had already signaled for a right turn. At her sudden words, he instantly realized something was amiss.
Following Yu Zhi's direction, he switched course. The SUV behind them reacted too slowly and was forced to stop at a red light.
However, what they didn't expect was that there wasn't just one car following them.
Shi Wei furrowed his brows in mild irritation, a dark and ominous aura radiating from him uncontrollably.
Thinking of the person sitting in the passenger seat, he restrained his emotions and lowered his voice, speaking gently, "I'll take you home first."
These people were clearly targeting him, and he needed to ensure her safety before dealing with them.
Yu Zhi didn't reply. Instead, she took her phone from her bag, opened the map, and silently studied the nearby terrain.
A few seconds later, she spoke calmly, "Drive straight for 500 meters, then take a right turn after three traffic lights. There's an abandoned factory there."
Shi Wei hesitated for a moment, "What do you mean?"
Yu Zhi asked in return, "Don't you want to know their objective?"
Shi Wei paused. He already had a rough idea of who was behind those people, but their true purpose...
Still, none of that mattered as much as the person before him. He refused to let her take risks with him.
"We'll deal with this later. I'm taking you home now." His tone carried unmistakable firmness, an almost forceful insistence.
"Focus on driving and do as I say." She matched his dominance with even greater resolve.
Yu Zhi stuffed her phone back into her bag, tossed the bag onto the back seat, and leaned her hand casually on the car window, gazing indifferently at the passing scenery.
Shi Wei: "..."
He sighed softly, wanting to avoid upsetting Yu Zhi. Ultimately, he had to abandon his plan to send her home.
The closer they got to the abandoned factory, the bumpier the road became.
Yellow dust scattered, and the air's swirling debris tightly enveloped the car.
Shi Wei found a relatively well-lit spot and parked the car, undoing his seatbelt. "Stay in the car and wait for me," he said, opening the door before he finished speaking.
Just as he was about to temporarily lock Yu Zhi inside, a loud "bang" interrupted him—
Yu Zhi had gotten out of the car and stood next to him, shoulder to shoulder.
"Why did you come out?"
Shi Wei frowned deeply, disapproval written all over his face. He grabbed her arm, intending to send her back.
"They're here." Yu Zhi slightly raised her chin, standing still without moving.
Three SUVs pulled up ahead, their headlights glaring brightly, illuminating the pair's silhouettes.
Not long after, eight or nine burly men dressed in black and carrying long rods aggressively stepped out of the vehicles.
With each step they took forward, the rods scraping across the ground made an increasingly sharp sound.
"Mr. Shi." The leader smiled mischievously as he called out to Shi Wei.
Stopping about half a meter away from the pair, he gestured for the men behind him to halt.
Shi Wei stood protectively in front of Yu Zhi, his dark eyes fathomless—as deep and mysterious as a lake in midnight darkness.
He let out a sarcastic laugh, glancing at the leader with contempt, "Whose pawn are you this time?"
The 'time' in his words made Yu Zhi raise her brow slightly, suggesting this wasn't the first occurrence.
"Mr. Shi, surely you're jesting?" The leader struck the ground forcefully with his rod.
His unattractive face coupled with the sly grin he wore made him all the more punchable.
"I won't waste your time. Hand over that plot of land in the north city, and my guys will let you leave tonight. If not..."
The leader deliberately dragged out his words, "You might have to endure a little pain."
Shi Wei detested threats more than anything; his expression darkened noticeably.
His eyes flashed coldly, sharp as blades. "Heh, has Shi Yaoyu really become this foolish?"
"So overreaching." Behind him, Yu Zhi clicked her tongue lightly, her words saturated with disdain.
At her remark, the leader's grin immediately faded. He cast a glance at Yu Zhi behind Shi Wei, mocking, "Oh, Mr. Shi brought his girl tonight?"
"Hey, little lady, how about joining my buddies for some fun?" He eyed her from head to toe unscrupulously.
At his words, the men behind him burst into laughter, their lecherous gazes shooting toward Yu Zhi relentlessly.
Shi Wei's hand tightened into a fist at his side, veins bulging, his entire being teetering on the brink of fury.
No longer restraining himself, he swung a fierce punch directly into the leader's face.
The leader, unprepared for the sudden attack, stumbled to the ground from the force.
With that opening move, chaos erupted immediately. The men launched themselves at Shi Wei, engaging in a full-blown brawl.
The leader spat out a mouthful of clotted blood, climbing to his feet as he raised his rod, readying to strike Shi Wei from behind. But just as it closed in on him, only inches away, someone blocked his swing.
Yu Zhi delivered a sharp kick into the leader's stomach, seized the rod from him, and mercilessly smashed it against his legs.
Confirming he wouldn't be getting up anytime soon, she moved to Shi Wei's side, swiftly attacking the other assailants one by one, each strike precise and unrelenting.
Her moves were not only fast and brutal but also incredibly synchronized with Shi Wei. In just a few minutes, they had taken down every single opponent.
Standing back to back, the two surveyed the scene around them—sprawled at their feet lay a group of incapacitated black-clad thugs.
Shi Wei strolled unhurriedly toward the battered leader, each step carrying the air of a Hell-bound demon delivering judgment.
Crouching down, he gazed at the leader condescendingly, exuding an overwhelming dominance. "Did Shi Yaoyu ever tell you the price of provoking me?"
The leader stared into Shi Wei's pitch-black eyes, visibly intimidated. Sweat glistened on his forehead, a stark contrast to his earlier oppressive arrogance.
