The Omega Is Pregnant-Chapter 107
Accepting Tae-seo’s firm insistence that winter meant the sea, it didn’t take long to narrow down the destination once they focused on places with an ocean. The trip plan was simple: wander around near the sea during the day, and spend the nights at a hotel.
While Kang Se-heon went back and forth between the house and the garage loading the car, Tae-seo stood with his arms crossed, giving a rather annoyed look. It wasn’t because he was dissatisfied with Se-heon.
“What is this?”
Seriously, what the hell is this guy?
Apparently feeling the sting of Tae-seo’s gaze, Park Han-soo raised a hand to shield his face.
“Barging in without reading the room is your specialty, isn’t it?”
“It’s not like I’m thoughtlessly tagging along on your trip. I just happen to be going the same way, so I thought it’d be nice to go together. Eating together at a rest stop and all—that’s how memories are made, you know?”
“Why are you trying to make memories with me?”
When Tae-seo didn’t bother to hide his displeasure, Park Han-soo just grinned shamelessly.
“Of course I’m not trying to make them only with you. I’m going to have a great time with Mirae.”
“Then why are you dragging me into it?”
“Thanks, buddy.”
“Are you out of your damn mind?”
Tae-seo already knew Park Han-soo was shameless and slick as hell, but this time, he was just speechless. Even if he flat-out asked him if something was wrong with his brain, Park Han-soo just curled his lips upward and smiled.
“Yeah, yeah, don’t include me.”
Must be nice, going with Han Mirae.
While he’s going on a full-term trip, they’re out there using graduation as an excuse to go have fun with Han Mirae—and he’s not supposed to be pissed?
“Only up to the rest stop. Once the road splits, we go our separate ways. If you cling, you’re dead, Park Han-soo.”
“Like I’d still go if you begged me to. You know how many people are waiting for me besides you?”
“Then go with those people from the start.”
When Tae-seo muttered that, Park Han-soo shook his head like that was the one thing he absolutely couldn’t do.
“Then I wouldn’t be able to go with Mirae, would I?”
And so, the conversation went right back to the beginning.
The reason Tae-seo even saw Park Han-soo on the morning of the trip was because of the graduation trip. Graduation trips were organized by pairing up departments, and this time Han Mirae’s department had been grouped in. Apparently, even though she was graduating in the fall, Han Mirae was joining the trip too—and that’s where Park Han-soo’s preparations began to shine.
He’d gotten a few hotel vouchers in advance from Tae-seo’s father. Said he’d earned them by working hard on something he’d been asked to do before.
‘His dad must’ve asked him to look into me.’
And to think he scored hotel vouchers out of that. The guy’s got some skills.
Anyway, while everyone else stayed in a group at the pension, Park Han-soo and Han Mirae had secured two separate rooms. Apparently, he planned to surprise her with that later like it was some kind of event.
He’d also used his free time to cozy up to the KH secretary and even learned how to drive. Said they exchanged contact info and had been in touch ever since. Thanks to that, he now had the opportunity to take a trip with just Han Mirae.
‘That damn social butterfly.’
He wasn’t just working on Tae-seo’s parents and the KH secretary anymore. Lately, he’d even started cozying up to Se-heon.
“Do you want to be Yoon Tae-seo or something?”
“Isn’t that what friends are for? It’s not like I’m always clinging to you. I’m just strengthening our bond as your one and only friend.”
That bit about being his “only friend” was because of what happened during the investor presentation. Han-soo had been so thrilled, saying he was the only one Tae-seo actually considered a friend.
Pushing aside those unnecessary thoughts, Tae-seo turned to look at the car Han-soo had pulled up. The guy had prepared everything to make Mirae comfortable: blankets, coffee, a charger, and even a tablet loaded with movies in case she got bored.
“Didn’t know you were this meticulous.”
“It’s all about laying the groundwork for a good relationship, right?”
Park Han-soo looked proudly around the inside of his car.
“I’ve been thinking—when would be a good time to confess? And I figured, wouldn’t it be best to say it during the drive?”
“Yeah, so she can reject you in the most neutral way possible.”
Tae-seo smiled as he jabbed at Han-soo’s soft spot.
“Even as just a friend, feelings can turn romantic, you know?”
“Why are you trying to convince me? It’s Mirae you need to win over.”
“Well, yeah. Is there anything else I need to pack?”
Watching him double-check everything from the beginning, Tae-seo couldn’t help but be reminded of the way Kang Se-heon always looked after him. He leaned back against the car hood and looked at Park Han-soo.
“So what made you suddenly fall for Han Mirae?”
“When she stood up for you. That completely did me in.”
“Me?”
“You know those dumb rumors that you were bullying Seo Da-rae to get closer to Se-heon? Even when I said it wasn’t true, no one really listened. But then Mirae shut it all down with a single sentence. My heart was pounding like crazy.”
“She looked cool?”
“Yeah. Super cool. Just a few words from her, and even the ones who were doubting until the end couldn’t find anything to hold on to. The ones blinded by jealousy just shut up. You should’ve seen it happen in real time.”
Tae-seo lifted himself off the hood at that. He hadn’t expected someone to clear up those rumors so cleanly.
And thanks to Mirae drawing a clear line and saying they were just friends, Kang Se-heon had stopped paying attention to her, too.
While he was chatting with Park Han-soo, Kang Se-heon had quietly finished all the preparations. Tae-seo turned toward him and whispered:
“Sorry for making you do everything alone.”
As a way of showing thanks, he reached out to hug him and kiss his cheek—but Se-heon turned his head, and their lips met instead.
“If you’re grateful, kiss me properly.”
Kang Se-heon lifted his head as he gently stroked Tae-seo’s hair. Then he waved back at Park Han-soo, who was flapping his arms like crazy in farewell.
“Let’s go.”
They were ready to leave, picking up Han Mirae on the way and heading straight to the destination.
****
Tae-seo reclined the passenger seat so that his belly wouldn’t be under pressure, half-lying down as he gazed comfortably at the sky. They’d picked the perfect day. The vivid blue overhead made it feel like they’d already arrived at the beach, even though they hadn’t yet.
“The sky is really beautiful.”
He wanted to open the window and touch it. That’s how much it had captured his heart.
“A good start.”
“Yeah, really.”
If they could just make it safely to the destination, look around a few places, and see the ocean, then it would be a perfect day.
“We’re pulling into the rest stop.”
“I’ll text Mirae.”
Since they’d agreed to meet at the rest stop, Tae-seo immediately picked up his phone and sent Han Mirae a message. When she quickly replied with an “okay,” he set the phone down. This was the third rest stop they were visiting—and the last one.
“Think Han-soo confessed yet?”
Tae-seo held back the urge to ask directly, and Se-heon, while turning the steering wheel, answered.
“No. He didn’t confess.”
“How do you know?”
“It’s just a feeling. He probably won’t manage it before they arrive.”
In other words, he wasn’t completely sure—just a guess. But he said it with so much confidence. Still, Park Han-soo had said he was going to confess during the drive with Han Mirae.
“Hearing you sound so sure... makes me want to ask more.”
“I’m fine making a bet. Han-soo definitely won’t do it.”
“Ehh, I don’t know about making it a full-on bet. How about the loser just buys coffee?”
Same difference. Kang Se-heon parked in a wide spot so Tae-seo could get out easily, then turned to him.
“Tae-seo.”
“Yes, hyung.”
“I’ll have an iced Americano.”
The way he confidently chose his drink in advance lit a fire under Tae-seo’s competitive streak. The same Tae-seo who had just been saying you shouldn't gamble on someone’s feelings now had a spark in his eye.
“I want baby potatoes.”
If I win, I don’t need coffee. I’ll just savor those soft, warm, perfectly salted # Nоvеlight # little potatoes.
“No take-backs later. He just needs to confess before they reach the destination, right?”
“Right.”
With Se-heon confirming that he didn’t care either way, Tae-seo stepped out of the car and approached Park Han-soo and Han Mirae, who had arrived ahead of them. He quickly scanned their expressions. They didn’t seem upset, which meant the mood was probably okay.
“What do you want to eat? I’ll go get it.”
Han Mirae asked while shaking her wallet. Kang Se-heon stepped up beside her and pulled a card from his own wallet.
“Put yours away.”
“Executive VP, you’re the best!”
Han Mirae clapped enthusiastically and clung to Se-heon’s side. Se-heon gave Tae-seo a meaningful glance, as if deliberately leaving the two of them some space.
“Han-soo.”
Tae-seo gently twisted his body side to side, loosening up. There was still a long way to go, so he was taking care to relax in advance. Park Han-soo followed suit, stretching after being tense from driving, but his expression hadn’t changed from before.
“Did you... confess?”
Tae-seo asked while watching him, his voice laced with a quiet hope. Please let him have confessed already.
“Hmm...”
Park Han-soo dragged out his answer instead of responding right away. As Tae-seo waited anxiously, his insides twisted in frustration—just before Park Han-soo finally opened his mouth.
“Not yet.”
“Oh, come on, why!”
They were practically at the destination and he still hadn’t done it. Tae-seo shouted in disbelief, and Park Han-soo flinched.
“I just couldn’t find the right moment. That’s all.”
“When the hell are you going to find it?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to say it. It’s just... things have been going so well and I’m afraid confessing might make it awkward. I feel like if I don’t do it soon, I won’t be able to at all.”
As Park Han-soo gave his excuse with a pitiful look, Tae-seo let out a long sigh and headed off—to buy that iced Americano Se-heon had asked for. Park Han-soo trailed after him, asking:
“Don’t you have any advice for me?”
“Advice?”
“Something that won’t make it awkward but also helps her maybe feel a little more for me.”
At his serious tone, Tae-seo suddenly stopped walking. Park Han-soo nearly bumped into him and had to scramble to step back.
“Advice?”
So he’s asking how to confess properly?
“Does Mirae have any idea how you feel?”
“I don’t think so.”
Even though they were going on this trip just the two of them, she’d acted totally casual about it.
“Then that’s where you need to start.”
“Really? If you think that’s a good idea... But you’re kind of oddly fired up about this.”
The look in Park Han-soo’s eyes said, Why are you more worked up than me? But Tae-seo ignored him completely and lit up with determination.
“We’re not leaving this rest stop until you do it.”
