“I’m changing the promotional guidelines. Assistant Manager Sung.”

Kang Se-heon opened the file he’d organized the night before on his laptop and called over Assistant Manager Sung from PR. As Sung approached with his company notebook in hand, Se-heon was about to turn the screen toward him—

“Executive Vice President.”

The office door opened, and the secretary stepped in first, followed by two others. Se-heon’s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at the two unfamiliar faces. The last man to enter gave him a relaxed smile.

“This is Assistant Manager Kim Hyun-gyeong, replacing Assistant Manager Park Jin-ho, who was dropped from this project. And...”

Kim Hyun-gyeong hesitated, then gestured to the man behind her to step forward. As he confidently approached, the TF team’s collective gaze snapped to one spot—his face.

Doesn’t he kind of look like Executive VP Kang Se-heon?

They glanced back and forth between the two men, and just as their suspicions solidified, the man introduced himself.

“I’m Intern Kang In-hyuk.”

Assistant Manager Sung, who was standing closest to Se-heon, had a sudden shift in expression. The man did look familiar... and the moment he said his name, it all clicked.

A direct member of the KH Group’s main family.

No wonder—word of an intern joining the TF team made no sense unless there were strings being pulled.

“Do you really think it makes sense to assign an intern to this project?”

Se-heon’s quiet rebuke made Assistant Manager Kim Hyun-gyeong avert her eyes. Even for her, it had been orders from above—she had no say.

“Executive VP, please take a look at this.”

The secretary held out a tablet, showing an email from the Planning Department Head. It included Kim Hyun-gyeong’s internal work history and even Kang In-hyuk’s résumé, thoroughly compiled.

It was obvious who had orchestrated all this, and right on cue, In-hyuk stepped in to smooth things over.

“I look forward to working with you, Executive VP Kang.”

At the intern’s loaded greeting, Kang Se-heon silently closed his laptop.

****

The person who pulled these strings was Han Mi-sun.

Not only had she shoved Kang In-hyuk into the Planning Office as an intern, she’d immediately pushed him onto the TF team # Nоvеlight # as well.

She had to know that CEO Kang Su-hak had joined hands with Wona Electronics. So why would she place her son directly in the rival team? As Se-heon stewed over Han Mi-sun and In-hyuk’s underhanded motives, Tae-seo was lounging on the couch with his head on Se-heon’s leg.

"Feeling better now?"

Tae-seo stifled a laugh as he read the message from Park Han-soo. Along with revealing Blessing’s gender, they’d naturally ended up talking about everything that had happened lately.

Han-soo said his phone had practically exploded with messages and links the moment he woke up—his name plastered all over the headlines. And even then, he’d hesitated to reach out right away, probably thinking it might overwhelm Tae-seo.

So he waited, holding himself back, until Tae-seo messaged him first—at which point he pounced.

He’d sent things like, So this is what happens when you go talk to Chairman Kang Hak-jung, huh?

Tae-seo chuckled silently.

“Even I didn’t expect it to go this far.”

After replying that he’d done an interview too, Tae-seo rolled onto his back. His body bumped into Se-heon’s leg, but he quickly shifted to a more comfortable position and turned his attention back to his phone.

“So did the rumors at school die down or not?”

Han-soo kept asking, but every time, he just said how shocked he was. He even asked if one of the pictures in a certain article was taken at the OBGYN clinic—completely sidestepping the actual question.

Tae-seo responded that he wouldn’t say anything more until he got a proper answer. Then he lowered his phone and looked up. He could see the faint crease in Se-heon’s brow as he sat propped against the headboard.

He’d heard the work on the project was moving fast, so why did Se-heon look so burdened? It was strange too, how someone always so busy suddenly had a whole day off. For Tae-seo, it was nice to nap and laze around with Se-heon in bed like this, but it didn’t seem like Se-heon was really able to relax.

The buzz of his phone pulled Tae-seo’s gaze back down.

“As far as school goes, most people are more shocked that you’re an Omega.”

Oh. Right.

People close to him already knew, so he hadn’t thought much of it—but that wasn’t the case for everyone else. Most still thought he was a Beta.

“And yeah, the rumors have died down—somewhat.”

Somewhat?

The vague answer made Tae-seo’s eyes narrow. Knowing Han-soo’s personality, “somewhat” probably meant something else had spread in its place.

Maybe the interview will help shut it down more.

The follow-up interview had been wrapped up via email and phone. The plan was to publish it at the right time, but the reporter had promised to let him review it before it went live.

If things settle here, I hope that’ll be the end of it...

As long as nothing weird got attached to Se-heon’s name, he didn’t have any more concerns.

He ended the conversation with a “Let’s talk later” and let his phone drop to his side. Then he spread his arms and lay flat on his back, staring at the ceiling. A blanket was draped over him. Se-heon had pulled it up to his chest and was now gently patting it.

His hands tapped in a calm, rhythmic beat, like he was trying to lull Tae-seo to sleep. It felt comforting.

“You done talking with Park Han-soo?”

“Yeah.”

“Then go back to sleep. You’ve eaten and played, now it’s nap time.”

...Was he treating him like a literal baby now?

Tae-seo squinted at him, only for Se-heon’s big hand to come down and smack right onto his face like an octopus.

“What the hell are you doing?”

“Your eyes were annoying me.”

“What’s wrong with my eyes?”

“They were rude.”

He’d seen plenty of stories where a character gets their head grabbed like a basketball, but this was the first time someone had just full-on covered his whole face with their hand. Completely caught off guard, Tae-seo just laid there, still. Se-heon’s hand eventually slid away and threaded into his hair.

“Go to sleep already.”

Tae-seo obediently closed his eyes. Technically, Se-heon was right—he’d eaten a full meal, played around, and now it was time to rest...

“I just thought of something I want to eat.”

His eyes popped open again as he started patting the blanket around himself in search of something. Once he found what he wanted, he stopped moving. Tossing the blanket aside with a grin, he grabbed his phone and lay back down.

He said he was craving something to eat, but his actions didn’t really match. Se-heon sat down in front of him, about to ask what he was doing, but got his answer quickly enough.

“Grandpa, I just remembered something I really want to eat.”

“...Yoon Tae-seo.”

Se-heon dropped his head into his hands, covering his face.

“I make good money too, you know.”

You’re really calling Grandpa for this? I could buy you anything you want.

Shaking his head in disbelief, Se-heon looked over at Tae-seo, whose eyes curved mischievously into a smile.

“He’s fine with it today. Oh—Se-heon hyung has to pay though.”

Tae-seo mouthed the chairman’s response playfully:

Hyung’s paying.

****

“I was craving hot pot rice.”

Even before the lid came off, the subtle aroma of the rice wafted out, and Tae-seo’s lips curled up in bliss. He grinned dreamily as Se-heon scooped rice from the pot, poured a measured amount of hot water into it, and set it to the side.

“Don’t hesitate to call me in the future. I’ll buy you anything you want.”

“Thank you.”

Tae-seo gave a polite bow, then lifted his spoon to take a bite. When Se-heon added grilled fish on top of the fluffy white rice, Tae-seo accepted it without question. Se-heon kept adding side dishes one by one, and Tae-seo happily ate without once picking up his own chopsticks. Eventually, Chairman Kang Hak-jung clicked his tongue.

“You sure know how to take care of your other half.”

“I got used to it.”

Se-heon didn’t care that his grandfather was sitting right in front of him—his attention was entirely on making sure Tae-seo was eating well.

“A shame I’m the only one who gets to see this.”

His gruff grandson fussing over his partner like this... Jin-han and his daughter-in-law should’ve been here to witness it.

“It’s fine. They’ll see it plenty later.”

The quiet confidence in Se-heon’s voice made Chairman Kang surrender first. He said it was a shame, but his face kept softening into small smiles.

“I saw the photo. Very sweet.”

“Of course. We’re getting married.”

“I meant the one of Tae-seo and Blessing.”

With a smug blow, the Chairman put his grandson in his place and picked up his chopsticks with a much brighter expression.

“I got a good look at your ugly face too.”

“...”

Se-heon was left speechless, and Chairman Kang, claiming victory, turned to Tae-seo.

By now, Tae-seo had filled his stomach a good amount. He slowed his pace slightly and began speaking.

“Grandpa, I wanted to thank you in person.”

“It’s what you wanted, so that’s good. It’s not like we could keep it hidden forever anyway. I was just waiting for the right time.”

He nodded toward Se-heon.

“That kid has too many eyes watching him.”

“True. Se-heon hyung is ridiculously famous.”

Even Tae-seo had to admit that.

“Thinking about it now, I still remember the first time I met him.”

It was when he’d first possessed Yoon Tae-seo’s body, drifting in and out of consciousness. At the time, he’d looked at the man helping him and thought, Who even is this guy?—only to find out he was an absolute celebrity.

So much information had flooded in when he’d looked up the name “Kang Se-heon” that he’d never forgotten how shocked he’d felt. Honestly, maybe that’s why Se-heon couldn’t be the main character in the original novel—he was just too perfect. Overshadowed the real lead, Kang In-hyuk.

“Getting involved with someone that famous... I guess this kind of day was bound to come eventually.”

Maybe deep down, from the moment he ended up with an Alpha like Kang Se-heon, he’d known something like this would happen.

“Have the rumors died down?”

“Rumors?”

The question meant for Tae-seo was intercepted by Se-heon.
