The Overnight Chosen Wife: darling, kiss me deeper-Chapter 616: I don’t kiss on the first date
Chapter 616: I don’t kiss on the first date
When they were finally on their own in the car, Yue couldn’t help taking a long, deep breath. She would think she was dreaming if the scent of Linhou wasn’t so real. Even then, it still felt like something that would only be possible if a wizard were to stop by and swing a wand. Maybe that was what happened. Because although she had been happy most of her life, she hadn’t quite felt like this before.
She had no control of her hand that was pressed up against the window. It was almost as if she knew she would make a fool out of herself if she let go.
"Wait. Did that boy just give the policeman the slip?" She exclaimed, pointing out at the people she was watching.
Linhou let out a soft chuckle. "You finally get to spend time with me and all you care about is boys escaping the police?"
She rolled her eyes. "Maybe we should have remained friends. This dating thing has unlocked a side of you that I don’t recognize at all."
He knew she was joking so he pulled her closer to him. "Not a chance. It’s too late to change your mind; besides, we are a good match. Even you have to admit that."
She couldn’t deny it. For years, it had been obvious that they had a bond no one could quite understand. Not even themselves. People said twins could feel each other’s pain but that couldn’t come close to Linhou and Yue. They understood each other without words—of course, except when it came to relationship matters. Throw a random suitor into the mix; all they could see was their beloved being taken away.
Luckily, that wouldn’t happen anymore now that the air had been cleared.
"We are going to the restaurant for a meal, like every traditional date." He couldn’t hide the snort in his tone.
"That’s not where you would like to take me, is it?" She asked.
"Of course not. You know I would rather bring you along to cause mischief. You know, sneak into a private pool at night and go for a swim, rob a bank for the thrill of potentially getting caught, poke fun at an angry police officer and outrun him, swim with the sharks, that kind of thing."
"And that’s exciting." She agreed. "So why can’t we?"
"You know why we can’t." He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Your father already has me under his radar. If I were to do something that he deems dangerous for you, he will never let me see you again."
She frowned at him. "You would never let anything bad happen to me. You know that better than anyone and so does he."
"Don’t you know, sweetheart? For a father, his daughter having a reliable friend is one of the best things ever. But if said friend turns around and preys on her, they become arch enemies."
She burst into laughter. "First of all, you calling me sweetheart is giving me the creeps. Second of all, you’re exaggerating it. Dad loves you."
He laughed dryly. Of course, he did. And of course she would think that, because she had no clue of the murderous glare Han Xichen had shot his way. It was the same glare he had seen his father use before when guys started pursuing Xiaomu. He would stare down at them and growl in their faces and the poor guys would scurry for their lives.
Only, he was not scared of whatever Han Xichen had in store for him—not that he could actually hurt him. Their families had been friends since forever.
"We’re here." He grinned when they finally got to the restaurant.
Yue held onto his arm. Only this time, her cheeks were flushed, and holding his hand felt different from before.
"Where is this place?" She looked around, realizing they were at a diner they had never been to before.
"A secret diner. I know you don’t like big-name places." He smiled as he led her in through the door. She was yet to ask what was so secretive about it when he nodded to a concierge and he led them to the back of the diner, where he opened a door that led to a humongous restaurant.
"Whoa," she couldn’t hold back a gasp.
"Do you like it? Wait till you see the view." He was nervous as they were led to their table. There wasn’t a single patron in sight, so she figured he had reserved the whole place for their date. He didn’t strike her as one to do such things.
"I wanted to have some private time with you." He explained as he pulled out a chair for her. Their meal had long been ordered, so it arrived soon after they sat down.
She didn’t eat much and he knew it was because she was still getting used to the sudden change in their relationship.
"Dance?" he asked her.
"Don’t push it." She growled.
He laughed. "Come on, it will be fun." He stood up and looked down at her with that charming smile that made her heart race. "My lady, can I have this dance?"
"If you insist." She mumbled even though she was already on her feet and her hand was in his. He slid a hand around her waist and led her a few feet away from the table. She wasn’t a good dancer and neither was he.
All they did was spin and sway but it was fun and that was all that mattered. She heard the door open and close and thought their dessert was here but her eyes widened when she saw the incomer.
"Aunt Lanni?"
The latter was bringing in an easel and a huge canvas. She smiled at them and waved. "Don’t mind me. I’ll just take a quick sketch. You guys keep dancing."
She turned back to Linhou in surprise. "You asked for this?" freёnovelkiss.com
He pulled her closer. "I know you are not a huge fan of romance but I knew you would love a painting of us. If Aunt Lanni were to be the one painting it, it would be even more meaningful."
"Of course!" She threw herself into his arms. Maybe this romance thing wasn’t so bad after all.
He lowered his head, making her nudge him off. "Uh-uh. I don’t kiss on the first date."
But seconds after her she said so, she pressed her lips firmly against his.

This is the first Chapter in months and there are only around 5 Chapters before the book ends so I thought I should drop this note here. I’ll keep it short so it doesn’t change the Chapter cost.
I’ve never had so much trouble ending a book before. But Lanni and Xiehan...they’re my babies. I’ve been writing their story for three years and ending it means I won’t see them again, hence my long author’s block. To remedy this, I decided to end the story and create a book of side stories. I’ll tell you all the details once it’s set in stone but since it will be a book based on another book, it will be completely free from start to finish. No locked Chapters, no privilege. I’m so excited!
So be ready for the mass release!
