The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 24 – The news about the divorce
Chapter 24: Chapter 24 – The news about the divorce
"So, Miss Chance, are you saying, that you are now engaged to Mr. Robin Jewel, the President of Jewel Group?"
A male presenter asked Zayla. Her mood was bubbly and her hair let down. As usual, she rocked the latest brand of Louis Vuitton.
"Exactly my point," Zayla agreed. The presenter had a disbelieving look on his face, asking again,
"So, what happened to his wife?"
Anger flashed in Zayla’s eyes but it was soon replaced with a smile. She released her words mercilessly, "The bitch is barren and I’m already pregnant for Robin. We shall soon be having a child together."
"You are pregnant?" The guest presenter’s brows raised as he questioned. This was the first time a woman had revealed being pregnant for Robin, despite his womanizing adventures. Zayla’s smile stretched.
"Of course."
"And you are engaged?"
The presenter asked again, knowing that this was going to be the news of the century. Zayla stretched her hand forward, revealing the 24-carat diamond ring on her ring finger. The presenter gaped in shock. The ring was classy so Zayla could not be telling lies.
"Rings don’t lie, do they?" Zayla asked proudly, satisfied by the fawning look on the presenter’s face.
"Miss Chance, if you are engaged, then how come Mr. Jewel isn’t here with you?"
Dismay flashed in Zayla’s eyes but it was gone as quickly as it appeared. She smiled coquettishly and responded, "Your question is like asking me if bees produce honey. You know how busy Mr. Jewel is and do you think I can do this without his approval?"
The presenter swallowed the rest of his questions. Robin Jewel was still the most powerful man in the business industry. Falsification of information like this could put Zayla behind bars so it could not be a lie.
"Congratulations! Miss Chance. A lot of ladies would want to be in your shoes."
Zayla smiled smugly, "They can only wish and these are some pictures of our intimate moments together."
The pictures were displayed on the screen, some were the time she held hands with Robin when they walked to the restaurant. Some were from the penthouse when Robin carried her in his arms after the drunk night.
Another one was from the club when their arms were wrapped around each other. The scenarios of the pictures told a different story to the reality on the ground.
Sabrina felt a pain in her chest and tears streamed down her cheeks. She never recalled Robin ever giving her special attention like that. To carry her in his arms? That never happened in their three years of marriage even after he fucked her until she was too weak to walk.
Devin turned off the TV and led her out of the house after explaining to their father what had happened. He could not leave Sabrina like this and neither did he say a word about her sunken mood.
On their way to the penthouse, Devin’s phone rang continuously but he did not answer.
"Who is calling, answer it," Sabrina got tired and spoke. Just as she was trying to convince herself that she had gotten over Robin, the jealousy in her heart showed she was nowhere close. Love was indeed too powerful to be given to the wrong person.
Devin obliged and answered the call, "Sorry, I can’t see you tonight. My sis needs me."
"Is it because of the trending interview of Zayla Chance?" Martin asked from the end of the line. It was blaring how Sabrina had not gotten over Robin, for which reason she rejected him. From this news, he felt that he had a chance.
"Let’s talk another time if you don’t mind," Devin responded casually but Sabrina guessed it was because of her and said,
"You can go, Devin. You don’t have to wait up for me all night. I can take care of myself."
Devin smiled but it did not reach his eyes. He knew Sabrina was hurting from Zayla’s ruthless words, meaning to teach the bitch a lesson but he was not going to let Sabrina in on his plans just yet.
"I already canceled the appointment," he said to Sabrina but she still felt it was all because of her. Therefore, she could not continue being a burden to her brother. As such, she suggested,
"Then I will come with you. I can do with a distraction right now."
That did not sound like a bad idea so Devin agreed. "Alright, if you say so."
"Martin, I’m coming," he said on the phone. Martin smiled from his side of the line, saying,
"I will be talking to someone at the car park so I’ll wait for you there."
When Sabrina arrived with Devin, Martin smiled and extended his hands to her. "It’s good to see you again, Miss James."
"Same here," Sabrina gathered herself and responded. It would have been okay if the news about her divorce had not gone public. She had also been labeled a barren woman, for which reason the press would pick up the news as soon as her bump began to show. Sabrina was broken but could not hide it this time.
"If I knew you were coming, I would have chosen somewhere more appropriate. I hope you understand that this is a club," Martin said with remorse. Indeed, Sabrina did not seem like a woman who loved to party or see this side of life.
"My brother is here with me," Sabrina smiled but her sadness overshadowed it. Martin noticed it and quickly agreed,
"Yeah, sure, I almost forgot."
The three walked to the club and found a place in the VIP lounge. Sabrina’s butt merely touched the chair when a familiar male baritone voice said behind her,
"You amaze me, Sabrina. I never thought I’d ever see you in the club."
