The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 439 - What is more important than my kids?
Chapter 439: Chapter 439 - What is more important than my kids?
"Brina, I did it myself. I did it," Matilda spoke excitedly at the sight of Sabrina, Devin kissed the top of her head.
By the time she reached the hospital, she was already eight centimeters dilated, so the doctor suggested that she give it a try, unknown to her that Matilda was willing to do so as well.
Within a few minutes, she had reached ten centimeters, and who knew that she would make it, just when she almost gave up pushing because of the pain.
Devin was right there in the delivery room and seeing everything, he was saddened to not be able to offer any help to his wife.
However, the moment he heard the cry of his son, everything changed. His love and admiration for his wife increased as well as his fears decreasing.
"Yeah babe, you did it and I’m so proud of you," Devin said proudly, kissing the top of Matilda’s hair. Sabrina stood by the baby cot, looking admiringly at the cute baby in it.
"Congratulations, Tilda, I’m so happy that you did it."
"Thank you," Matilda smiled and said, spreading her arms for a hug as Sabrina filled her with warmth.
"He’s such a cute little creature and he looks like both of you. I now have a nephew too," Sabrina said after pulling away from the hug. She was so proud of Matilda and at the same time, her fears were wiped away.
"Yeah, he’s so cute like Robert. I hope that I get a girl who looks like me," Lizzy said. Matilda and Sabrina laughed.
Devin looked around curiously, as he wanted an update on everything happening at the wedding reception and asked,
"Where is Robin? How did he allow you to come alone?"
Sabrina stiffened at the question, realizing that she had not heard Robin’s voice since they entered the ward. Turning around, he was nowhere close, making Sabrina wonder if he was talking to Cobby or the general.
"We came together," Sabrina said and rushed to the entrance. "Robin?"
"There’s somewhere he needs to be," the general said. Sabrina frowned a little, disappointed that Robin had not informed her.
"Where did he go and why didn’t he tell me?" Disappointment laced her tone as she asked.
"I think it was the right thing for him to do. Daniel embarked on a dangerous mission, so Robin wants to go and help, but don’t worry. I have enough men to take care of you," the general assured him.
"But he should have informed me," Sabrina insisted. The general was finding it hard to say more, but Cobby came to his aid,
"Yes, but then you would be worried. Matilda needs you too."
Using Matilda’s name felt like magic, as it quickly erased all her worries. She must have missed the main thing but still made it in time to see Matilda and the newborn.
"Yes, you are right. Let me call and check on him," Sabrina said and was about to dial Robin’s number when the general stopped her,
"I suggest that you don’t call him if it’s not urgent. This look-alike of his is very sneaky. Please allow Robin to have all the concentration he needs in dealing with the likes of him."
Sabrina stiffened at the mention of Robin’s look-alike. She felt creepy at the thought of her meeting with him but also felt that the man’s hold on her arm, though uncomfortable, was very familiar.
"Alright. I will wait here."
"Good. You can stay for as long as you want. It’s the reason why I requested this room with enough beds in case you want to spend the night," the general smiled and said. Sabrina returned his smile, but it was quickly replaced with a frown.
"I miss my babies. I feel so full and it’s becoming painful."
The two experienced elderly men instantly understood that she was having an engorgement as a result of not breastfeeding for so long.
"You should find out Laura’s location. If she’s not close enough, I could ask the nurses to get you a breast pump and some breastmilk storage bags," the general suggested.
"That is a good idea," Sabrina agreed, dialing Laura’s number. The latter answered it on the first ring in a hasty tone,
"Miss Jewel, is everything alright?"
"Can you stop addressing me so formally?" Sabrina asked in annoyance, Laura chuckled and replied over the phone,
"Trust me, I always try, but sadly, I’m not able to call you by your first name."
"Then you have to try harder cos the next time you address me so formally, I would be very upset with you."
Laura forced a smile and replied, "I will keep trying, Sabrina."
"That’s much better so how are Robert and Savannah?"
There was a pause on the other side of the line, making Sabrina uncomfortable as she asked again,
"Laura, how are my kids?"
"They are both fine," Laura replied immediately this time. Sabrina sighed with relief and asked again,
"Where are you guys? If you aren’t too far, I could meet up with you to breastfeed them."
Sabrina felt uneasy as the conversation fell into an unbearable silence once again, causing her to worry.
"Laura, is there something you’re not telling me? Are you with my kids?" she asked, trying to hide her anxiety because of her trust in Laura.
"Yes, both kids are fine, but they’re not with me," Laura replied. Sabrina’s heart sank at the revelation, but before she could ask why, Laura quickly reassured her,
"Trust me, they are safe with Jacob."
Sabrina let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Jacob had changed and was now a trustworthy person.
Still, there was something about Laura that she couldn’t quite figure out, and she pointed out, "But you sound nervous, and I need to see the kids because my breasts are full."
After a short pause, Laura responded, "Sabrina, there’s something I need to take care of. Do you mind storing the breastmilk? I hid the twins in a faraway place."
This revelation upset Sabrina, and she asked, "What could be more important than my kids?"
"Please trust me, Sabrina. Your kids are fine, but Mr. Jewel and his best friend need my help," Laura pleaded, Sabrina tensed up.
