The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 468 – Why Did You Ruin My Business?
Chapter 468: Chapter 468 – Why Did You Ruin My Business?
A few days ago.
"Agent One, are you sure you want to do this alone? Those agents are the best of their agency," one of Laura’s former working colleagues asked her.
They agreed to go with her on this mission as their farewell gift, so they weren’t charging anything.
Not only that, they were willing to go to any length with her, but Laura refused any further assistance. This was where the road ended between them as she was in this alone.
"I appreciate your help so far, but if you are caught, you will bring problems to the agency. I already resigned, and I’m on my own."
Her former agents understood her concern. They were not willing to leave the agency anytime soon and had to agree that this was the end of the road for them.
"All the best, Agent One. We shall still linger around. If you need anything, just give us a call."
His words struck a chord in Laura, and she suddenly remembered the last part of her plan.
"You just reminded me of something. While you wait," she leaned in and whispered something in their ears, and they nodded their heads.
At the presidential banquet, Laura disguised herself as an escort. With her burgundy wig and heavy make-up, she was unrecognizable.
Before the makeup, she also wore a silicon mask to completely disguise her looks, as she couldn’t allow anything to go wrong.
As she walked in with one of the governors, her attention was everywhere. She knew that the target was the vice president, but since the vice president never used an escort, she couldn’t get close to him.
Someone whispered something in the ears of the vice president, he stood up and left the banquet. "I will use the ladies’ room," Laura said politely to the governor she was an escort to.
He nodded his head without giving it much thought. The moment she went out, she followed the direction the vice president went, but the room he entered was restricted.
Laura entered one of the washrooms, removed her dress, and remained in the black pants and black shirt she wore underneath. Her stilettos were equally replaced with a long black boot.
Removing the silicone mask, she wore a long black mask that covered her entire face. She opened the vent and began to move through the ceiling to where the vice president had been taken after covering her fingers with black leather gloves.
Upon reaching the location, she stayed for a while and listened to their conversation.
"Sign this letter and announce at this party that you will no longer be the vice president. You also have to tell them that you embezzled funds and are not worthy."
A man Laura did not recognize was commanding the vice president, who was tied to a chair.
The vice president was fearless. "I have embezzled no funds. I will not do what you are forcing me to do."
The man was upset and let out a sinister smile. "There is another way. We can kill you and make it look like an accident." Three assassins walked in instantly and Laura recognized them.
She instantly perked up, knowing that the vice president was going to be eliminated.
"You won’t get away with this," the vice president said.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. It was the vice president’s bodyguards.
"Sign it now and as soon as you see the camera lights, begin the confession," the same strange man ordered the vice president, who once again refused.
"I won’t do it."
"Shoot him," the man ordered the assassins. As they were about to pull the trigger, two knives stuck in their throats, and the third assassin fled the scene.
However, the camera had caught everything and the vice president’s bodyguards broke in and took him away.
"Arrest him," the vice president pointed at the strange man in front of him, but before they reached him, he pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head.
When they left the room, Laura came out of the vent, knowing that using that route would cause her to miss the man she was looking for.
She already knew her way around and followed the tracker she had secretly made the third assassin ingest.
Little did she know that the chase would lead her to his room. When Laura entered the room, Julius sat on a recliner with his back turned to her.
"Who are you and why did you ruin my business?"
Even without turning to confirm, he knew that the person in his room was the one who had sabotaged his plans.
Laura did not have time to waste, as she knew that the camera had caught Julius escaping and other agencies would soon come looking for him.
"It’s Genesis Clide."
Julius stood up instantly and turned around in shock at hearing the name. The woman he saw wore a mask, but he also knew that Genesis Clide had died by his bullet.
"Stop messing with me."
Laura removed the mask to reveal her real face. She must have changed a little, but Julius knew it wasn’t too much to not be recognized by him.
"Do you still not recognize me?" She asked with a stoic expression, and Julius froze. How could he forget those light brown eyes?
"You are dead. You died. I killed you and I saw your dead body," he spoke in a frightened voice, shock and fear registering in his eyes.
"That was a fake. I survived and have been following you," Laura said calmly as she sat in a chair far from Julius.
The distance between them was enough to help her defend and escape any form of unexpected attack from him.
Julius still could not believe his eyes. All along, he had been living in a fool’s paradise, as the Genesis he thought had died had been stalking him.
"Since when did you become an assassin?" He asked mockingly. However, he was a little afraid because of the two agents Laura took down within seconds.
Those agents were tough, but she killed them like chickens. Julius knew that Laura had spared his life to find him here in his room because she could have thrown three knives, whereas she threw only two.
"You left me with no family, so I didn’t have a choice."
Julius forced a smile as he tried to find a way to manipulate Laura. He still saw her as that innocent seventeen-year-old girl.
"Look, we can start over. You can’t blame me. I was given a job."
