Chapter 1347: A Resolution II

Lory lazily leaned her body on the sofa, both of her arms resting on the sofa’s armrest as she flipped through an old photo album with a mellow smile. She was glad that Fred decided to reprint their old photos because there were many moments in the pictures that she had forgotten until she saw them again.

"It feels like another life... well, maybe it is for me" Lory chuckled while muttering to herself. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Lory stared at their graduation photo with her brother and father. It was a personal photo taken spontaneously by Uncle Reynald, Lory captured the picture with her cellphone and smiled in satisfaction

Her eyes darted to the man who was sleeping soundly in front of her, after a while Lory closed the photo album then got up from the sofa and walked towards the bed.

She looked at the man who had a face similar to hers, she remembered when they were little their faces were indeed more similar until Fargo often teased Lucas that he looked like Lory when he wore a wig or vice versa teasing how similar Lory was to Lucas, Fargo said she looked like Lucas when Lucas wore a wig.

But now that they have grown up, their faces are indeed more different, but their resemblance is still clearly visible, especially with the exact same eyes and hair color, no one would think they are not siblings.

Lory sat on the edge of the bed and tidied Lucas’ bangs that covered his eyes while saying in a low voice "You look old... how can someone with abundance mana like you look this old, is it because you didn’t take care of yourself or is it because of me?"

Lory smiled wryly "I heard from Fredhardt and the others that you only sleep two or three hours a day, you know I find it hard to believe because I always have to wake you up so we won’t be late for school. I always remember you as a lazy bum who would not stand if you could lie down. I also remember you said to me when you become a King you will delegate all your work to Fred and the others so you will have time to rest but what did you do... what happened, is it because of me? I also find it hard to sleep after that day..."

Lory lifted her face to hold back her tears, after calming her emotions she looked at Lucas’ face with a gentle smile "I want to say I regret it but regret means I won’t do it again but if time repeated I know I would still do the same thing... but I do feel sorry, I’m sorry for all the pain I caused you and Fred, Fargo, Clift, and Jay, but mostly to you..."

Lory holds Lucas’s hands with both hands "I made a promise that I would always be with you, to be with you all the way, but I lied... but I’m back now! This time I will fulfill my promise but you have to live to see it, right? Also, I have so much to tell you, about the other world, how I become a maid, and... I haven’t introduced you to my husband, yet! That’s right! I’m a married woman now, can you believe it? His name is Zhao Li Xin, trust me, you gonna like him because he weirds just like you and the others..." Tears brimmed in the corner of her eyes even though she was laughing.

Lucas of course didn’t answer, his chest moved up and down rhythmically he looked like someone who sleeping soundly, at least he didn’t look suffering.

Lory squeezed his hand tightly "Hang in there brother, I’ll save you...you know you can count on me for that" Lory took a deep breath soon after the gentleness on her face was replaced by coldness and her purple eyes dimmed "...And for everyone who hurt you, whoever they are, whatever they are, I’ll make them pay every pained and every scars they inflicted to you, so much so, they’ll regret they ever think about hurting you"

The door on the King’s study opened abruptly, automatically drawing Jay and Fred’s attention.

Lory enters the room with a cheerful smile, she lifts her chin "Busy?"

Fred knew she threw rhetorical questions so he answered tacitly, "Not really, why?"

"Tell me when you wanted to meet Victor Kross" Lory replied.

"Why?" Fred looks at her inquisitively.

"I want to meet him, I need to know where the WGA is?" Lory took out her phone and showed the news where Victor Kross was meeting with Alexander Behrenn and Saintess in Dolza, there was also a rumor that he ordered a new weapon from Luxemborough and planned to include it in the regulations as a mandatory weapon for all S and A class hunters.

"This will significantly increase Luxembourg’s arms sales profits. You can imagine the profits they would gain from this new regulation, who knows Victor himself might get some of the profit, if that were true that would explain why he dared to stand against us?" Fred chuckles.

"But he contacted us first, meaning he doesn’t want to fall out with us," Lory didn’t think the situation was that simple.

Fredhardt was just teasing Lory to gauge her opinion and as expected Lory did not disappoint him. Honestly, he also felt something strange about Victor Kross’s attitude, because even though he was cunning and calculating but he genuinely cared about Gifted people so it would be strange if he wanted to work with people from the Underground Guild or Luxemborough who tended to exploit Gifted people.

"Okay, I agree with you but what if... I mean ’if’ Victor Kross doesn’t give a satisfactory answer, what do you think we should do?"

Her eyes turned into beautiful crescent moons, as an enigmatic smile spread across her beautiful face, "Then it’s time for the WGA to find a new leader, don’t you think?"

Fredhardt and Jay were silent for a moment hearing Lory’s bold answer, they never expected such words to come out of Lory’s mouth.

"Are you sure about that?" Fred wanted to know if she was serious.

"You know that means we might be challenging half of the Gifted people in the world?" Jay refused to believe that Lory didn’t know the implications of her actions.

Lory’s expression remained calm and composed without a hint of hesitation or anger, "We’ve survived wandering the dark world filled with Demon beasts for ten years, I survived the Lazarus curse and you guys managed to exterminate the black dragon and bring light back to the world, do you think we need to be afraid of a few Gifted people that tried to attack us, how many of them do you think dare to challenge us?"

Fred burst out laughing because he never expected a pacifist like Lory to say something like that but he agreed with Lory’s analysis.

Even though they had problems with the WGA only a few Gifted dared to challenge them and the biggest reason is because of the story of King Arkheon the founder of Harland who fought to protect the Gifted when they were massacred by the Creator and common people was widely known which caused the Gifted people have more trust the Lucient family more than the World Guild Association.

So if the situation they predicted happened most likely all the Gifted would direct their hostility toward the WGA, not Harland.

"Since Lory has said so, what else do we need to worry about?" Jay shrugged nonchalantly because for him whatever Lory and Lucas’ decided, even if it meant free-falling from the cliff, he would follow it in a heartbeat.

Victor Kross is a fifty-six-year-old man with dark red hair and a thin beard growing on his diamond-shaped face. He has a rough and robust type of body just like a typical hunter.

Victor was appointed as the new leader of the World Guild Association immediately after the Dark Age war ended by a majority vote of the A and S class hunters present at the time and for some time he carried out his responsibilities quite well until an incident occurred that caused him to involved in sketchy matters at Harland.

As Gifted people, they knew by reason and instinct to never challenge the Lucient family even though they did not fully know what power the Lucient family possessed, they simply believed that it was beyond human comprehension and what the Lucient family did during the Dark Age War cemented their belief.

Aside from maintaining a good relationship with Harland was beneficial and serving his purpose, Victor also felt an inexplicable mixture of fear and admiration towards the Harland family even though the Lucient family in their entire history had never abused their power to harm or oppress innocent people but he cannot help but think this way, luckily he was not the only one who felt this way.

But something unexpected happens and he has to get involved with those rats which causes him to cross the line with Harland kingdom, Victor knows it would be suicide to fight the Lucient family therefore he must find a way to salvage the situation by any means possible before everything he worked for destroyed before his eyes.

Unfortunately due to his special circumstances, he is unable to go to Harland. Instead, he secretly invites him to the top of Black Rock Mountain where monsters roam in abundance as they reclaim this place as their own once again after the black dragons and demon beast disappeared after the Dark Age war.

Victor waited anxiously in the cabin with only one close subordinate. He did not dare to bring more people because the purpose of this meeting was to ask for their consideration, not to antagonize them.

"Will they come?" his righthand man also best friend asked anxiously.

"He said he would come, he has no reason to lie, he doesn’t need to." Victor stared intently at the front door of the cabin.

Suddenly a strong wind swirled inside the room and knocked their electric lamps off the table then rolled onto the wood floor before the light went off soon after the whole room became pitch black.
