The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 11: Protected
Chapter 11 - Protected
Violet yawned as she stepped out of the room. Sleepiness got to her, and she fell asleep in the morning, missing the breakfast in the process. Hunger prompted her to get up from the bed.
"There you are, sleeping beauty. Are you hungry?" asked Lucas when he spotted the woman walking drowsily.
Violet nodded.
"I figured you will be hungry. Let me warm up the pancakes for you," Lucas stated.
Sheepishly rubbing the back of her head, Violet said, "I am sorry for the trouble. I couldn't wake up for breakfast."
As Lucas placed the plate of pancakes in the microwave, Violet went over to the kitchen. Seeing how he took out the apple and strawberries from the fridge, Violet rushed over to grab them.
She then said, "I will wash and cut them up."
However, Lucas pulled them back from her and vocalized, "The Alpha ordered me to not let your enter the kitchen. We can't afford a renovation."
"But I will just be cutting the fruits," Violet voiced out as she watched Lucas wash the fruits prior to placing them on the chopping board.
"Take it easy, Princess. Isn't it better to have someone serve you?" Lucas winked at her.
This only made Violet feel further guilty.
"What are you cooking for lunch?" Violet inquired, wondering if there was any way she could contribute.
"Grilled fish— does that get you salivating?"
Instantly, Violet raised her hand and spoke out, "I go and catch the fish then. I know where the stream is."
Lucas was about to open his mouth to express his refusal when Violet's eyes narrowed at him.
"I will get real mad at you if you say no," Violet threatened, pretending to glare at him.

When the time came to go for fishing, Violet realized Lucas was following after her, and she pushed him inside the door, indicating him to not follow her.
Then, she lifted the spear with one of her hand and grabbed the bucket with other before heading towards the stream.

Behind, she heard Lucas's voice.
"Do not strain your wrist, Princess," Lucas said.
From her memory, Violet easily found the body of water. On the glistening clear water surface, she could easily spot the fish swimming by. She lifted the spear.
Her injured hand prevented her from applying much pressure. She narrowed her eyes, targeting a medium sized fish. However, before the tip could insert into the fish, it floated away.
Several fails following that made Violet lift her pants and step into the water. Doning a solemn expression, Violet stabbed again, and after many rounds of practice, she finally managed to catch a small fish.
Satisfied, she tossed it off to the bucket before carrying on.
After a while of catching fish, Violet began to feel exhausted, and unable to move her wrist anymore, she knew this would be enough. She watched the fish flap around in the bucket while slowly losing their vitality.
She was about to head back to the house when the strange presence behind her alerted her.
"What is a fine young lady like you doing here?"
There was a middle aged older man leering at her, followed by two others who also shared at the same expression. The wide satisfied grin on their faces made Violet feel chilled.
Violet was about to ignore them and walk off with the bucket when the middle aged man grabbed on to her hand. This made the bucket fall from her hand, and the fish spilled all over.
Her reflexes acted fast as Violet struck the spear in her hand— it's sharp tip scratching against the man's cheek.
But she was no match against a grown werewolf man. He raised his hand and slapped her harshly on her cheek— her lips cracking in the process.
"Bitch! You like it fiesty, right? Let me tame you, so that you know who to obey!"
As the man's hand extended towards her, Violet took a step back and held the spear tightly against her chest.
"Now, don't run away. Let me love you well. I will teach you what true pleasure is," another one spoke out— his disgusting desires were clear as day in his eyes.
Violet turned her back, about to run away, when she was left helpless by the man grabbing her shoulders tightly.
A cry left her mouth.
"Let go of me!"
The next moment, Violet felt the hold on her loosen. She turned back to find three of them on the ground. As their necks were slashed against, the blood splattered on her face.
Violet froze. Her hazel eyes found Sylas standing in front of her.
The usual calmness in his eyes was covered with gloominess and murderous intent. His extended claws were covered in blood, as he stared at the dead bodies in disdain.
He killed them in less than a second.
"I told you that you need to be more careful," Sylas said. His expression turned to become normal.
"I apologize. I created more trouble than help," Violet stated.
His eyes then fell on the bucket and spilt fish.
"Lucas sent you to catch fish?" he questioned.
Immediately, Violet explained, "I forced him to let me do so. Can you not tell him about it? He will feel responsible."
Maybe Violet was not good at reading people.
But from what she had seen about Lucas, the man sincerely cared about her. Therefore, she did not want to worry him.
If she had been stronger, she wouldn't need to be bullied like this today.
Violet clenched her hand into a tight fist, feeling indignant.
Bending down, Violet picked up all the fish that had fallen down. When she stood up straight, she was surprised to find Sylas still waiting for her. A small smile formed on her face at that.
As he led ahead of her while walking, Violet's eyes observed him. The sleeves of his shirt were lifted up, revealing his forearms. Her eyes traced down his sleeves, pausing for a second when she noticed a small scar on his wrist.
Violet wondered what could have left mark on an Alpha with great self healing abilities.
This made Violet think about what Lydia mentioned to her yesterday— talking to the Alpha about letting her stay here.
She wondered whether he would flat out refuse her to her face or let her know he will consider it politely.
Should she beg shamelessly if he doesn't allow her to stay?
Would it be too much of her to get down on her knees and grab his leg to make a scene until he agrees?
Although it would be too embarrassing for Violet, if push comes to shove, she will be able to do it.
Violet puffed up her cheeks, determined to give it a try.
And all her courage diffused when her head bumped into something hard.
Raising her head and rubbing it, she realized that it was Sylas's back. He turned back to look at her questioningly. The intoxicating scent of grape wine immediately made her take a step backwards and stare at him cautiously.
"I am sorry. I was a little distracted."
Violet's attention shifted from Sylas when she heard Lucas's voice.
"Princess, you managed to catch a lot of fish! Good job! What reward do you want?" Lucas said, patting her head for doing a commendable job.
Violet's cheeks flushed, realizing how she was treated like a child. Noticing how even Sylas had her attention on her made her feel further embarrassed.
"It wasn't a big deal," Violet vocalized, "there is no need for reward."
"What about it? I will make you your favourite lemon cake in the evening, alright?" Lucas stated.
Although Violet felt flustered, she nodded her head.
"Let me help you then."
