The Runic Alchemist-Chapter 583: Battle At The Edge Of The Snow Valley 3
Coming out of a black wormhole, Sam fell from midair as he sent a wide arc of his biggest lightning-covered aura slash at Bloodedge's back. Einar was still in the front, distracting the guy with hundreds of her fiery birds launched at the face of the giant beast. Still, Bloodedge released his own giant blood-red aura slash while turning back, much larger and packing far greater power than Sam's own—the clash of the two attacks resulted in a blinding explosion, turning the whole sky brighter for a second.
Before Sam could launch another slash or even locate Bloodedge in the fading light, the giant tail of the flying monster crashed into him like a charge from an enormous beast slamming into his chest—sending him flying downward at uncontrollable speed.
Midway through, Sam activated the main spell of his sword, and a thick bolt of lightning struck him, refilling him with boundless energy, energy that made him feel alive. His flesh turned to pure lightning as Sam activated his skill. Breaking his fall, he launched himself back straight at the giant flying monstrosity.
Sam pushed as much energy behind his charge as he could, leaving lightning domes that exploded, accelerating him further—reaching blinding speed. Einar was already jumping through wormholes as Bloodedge launched arcs after arcs of massive blood-red aura.
Even the giant flying black creature was throwing around waves after waves of psychic attacks. Even when Sam wasn't attacked directly, his mind could already feel the discomfort. No one would be able to focus on chanting in such conditions.
Just as Sam neared the three, the black monster suddenly opened its mouth wide and released the biggest wave of pink psychic attack till then. This one was aimed directly at Sam.
Sam wanted to use his speed to deal bigger damage—dodging or going around would slow him down. He could use his sword, but in this form, he couldn't plunge his hands into the mana containers—that wouldn't be very wise. Using mana threads under such mental discomfort and while in his full energy form was also not possible for him.
He didn't have to think for long, though, as a wide, long wormhole suddenly opened between him and the wave, and the attack was swallowed inside the dark portal. Only when it hit straight into the giant chest of the large monster itself did Sam and Bloodedge notice the wormhole opening under the flying monster's large body. That was a pretty nice assist from Einar, he shouldn't forget that he wasn't fighting alone here.
Sam smiled, and seconds after the pink wave landed on the monster's chest, he was there. Bloodedge was forcefully trying to control the monster to fly away, but the psychic attack had messed with its mind, and even the control of the dark power had been disrupted.
Sam channeled all his excess lightning energy onto his sacrium sword—holding it with two hands in an overhead charge. No other sword could handle this much abuse. The lightning was unforgiving. Sam had tried this with ordinary swords, and they always burned to ashes.
That bastard Damian.. Even though he had barely seen him fighting at full power, the guy was scarily accurate about what his strengths and weaknesses were. Not just his, even—he knew about all of them.
Sam had not missed Lucian's gigantic ice mountain skill blocking the valley.. He was worried about her, but they had no time to look anywhere else. Bloodedge could not be left alone. Who knew—if freed, the guy could control even more of those monstrous things and call them from afar?
The valley had been compromised. One tunnel had already opened, and Sam could guess it wouldn't end at just one. They were stupid, letting them come so close. But if Bloodedge had decided to do it from the beginning.. None of them could have done anything at all. Just killing over 100,000-plus emperor-rank black ones with barely 30,000 people was already a feat worth celebrating.
The others must retreat now. Losing more lives here had no meaning. But not for them.. If only Sam, along with the others, could deal with Bloodedge right here, their one problem would already be over. But he had to send the guy down to the ground for that first.
His sword had elongated into a massive form, extra structure constructed around the sacrium form with condensed lightning. The gigantic black monster with enormous wings had noticed him and was hurriedly trying to get away—but it was too slow and Sam too fast.
With a roar of primal rage, Sam went under the monster's head and buried his long sword deep inside the monster's soft belly, and continued charging at full speed—the resistance from the insides of the body slowed him down, but his sword was made of pure destructive energy—burning and melting while continuously cutting the massive monster's underside effortlessly.
Tons of pitch-black blood fell down from the monster's belly along with many pieces of stomach and organs themselves, coloring the snow below pitch black. With a heart-wrenching scream of terror, the monster fell down lifelessly. Its wings finally stopped moving.
Bloodedge was still on the creature's back, but Sam and Einar could see the guy was focused on the nearby flying monster—perhaps calling it toward them..
"No, you don't," Sam said and exploded with lightning energy, going straight to finish any nearby flying monster that could interfere.
Einar stayed on Bloodedge, still sending attacks after attacks from her scarlet aura-clad sacrium sword. Rurik and Lyska were gathering their forces for retreat, but seeing this, they ran at full speed in the valley, leaving Lucian behind with the laser cannon teams to finish Bloodedge—the man responsible for so many of their people's deaths—once and for all.
The flying monsters had dwindled to barely a couple hundred or less. The laser cannon guys were still taking down the occasional monsters as their warriors gathered for retreat.
Half their cannons were now switching to the multiple directions where the tunnels had opened up, and the land-based hundreds of emperor-ranked black ones were pouring out.
