The Strongest Curse Master-Chapter 365: Core Vs True Inheritance
Listening to Dee3, Ace was certain her research days weren't behind her—she simply hadn't found anything interesting enough to reignite her passion. For example, a curse slave who could listen to the world's mysteries. Realizing this, he saw the odds of convincing Dee3 to mentor his Toy Summons shift in his favor.
Meanwhile, Janice and Delores nodded in understanding, having learned something new about the mysterious Curse Caster profession. However, had Elinor not been busy, she would have pointed out a flaw in Dee3's explanation. That her Dream Invader/Teacher had begun instructing her in the ways of Curse Casters even before she underwent the curse core awakening ceremony. Meaning her Dream Invader/Teacher knew she had the potential to become a curse caster even before she condensed her curse core.
This was solid evidence that a person's ability to listen to the world's mysteries wasn't necessarily tied to condensing their curse core. It suggested either that one was born with the ability but only truly awakened it after condensing their core, much like a curse energy affinity, or that the two were entirely unrelated.
Regardless, the inability to hear the world's mysteries didn't bother Ace. Even though he personally lacked the ability, he believed that at least one of his future Toy Summons would be animated with it.
"When did you learn to be humble?" Janice asked, having gone through the USB drive Ace had given her. The information on it was at least ten times more valuable than the Sole Ring deal, far beyond what Ace had sold her on.
"So, how do we go about this?" Ace asked, seeking Janice's opinion, since she would be the one selling the intel, for a hefty commission, of course.
"Whatever you want. Sky's the limit," Janice said confidently, knowing the government would be willing to give anything for this intel. Seeing Ace hesitate, she barked, "Don't waste time overthinking it—every passing second chips away at my profit margin!"
"Ahem, I mean our profit margin."
"I want all high-tier curse arts of every type there is in the government's library," Ace replied off the top of his head. Janice's enthusiasm made him wonder if his initial evaluation of intel was wrong. He should raise his expectations.
He had money, so resources weren't the issue. What he truly lacked was knowledge—real knowledge—not the counterfeit materials flooding the Curse Market and Curse Web. If only curse arts were stored in centralized curse servers, like everything else, instead of being secured locally, he wouldn't have to struggle so much to find quality techniques.
"..." Janice stared at Ace blankly. When she said sky's the limit, she hadn't expected him to prove her wrong quite so literally. Shaking her head, she said, "Name a few high-level curse arts you'd like to learn. I can trade for those. But asking for every high-tier curse art the government has is just greedy and completely unreasonable. Besides, what are you even planning to do with them all? It's not like you can learn them in one lifetime. Even if you tried, you wouldn't get through them all—the government's been collecting curse arts for centuries."
"..." Now it was Ace's turn to stare blankly at Janice. He couldn't name a specific curse art he wanted to learn—not because he didn't care, but because the request wasn't for himself. It was for his Toy Summons. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
From experience, he had learned that he gained far more when his Toy Summons mastered a curse art first, modified it using their unique universe's knowledge, and then taught it to him. This way, he not only received customized, optimized versions of the curse arts but also had personal instructors available to him 24/7.
"Do you not know any high-level curse arts that suit you?" Janice asked, narrowing her eyes, "Or do you seriously believe you can get access to all the high-level curse arts in the government's archive in exchange for this intel?"
She wondered if Ace's actions were out of greed or ignorance. When he looked away in shame, Janice could hardly believe his audacity. The sheer gall of asking for unlimited access to the government's most guarded curse arts library was beyond reason.
Meanwhile, Dee3 and Delores perked up, now curious about the intel Ace was trying to sell. Hearing him ask for such a monumental exchange made them wonder what kind of information could possibly warrant that. In their own dealings with the government, all they'd ever received in return for their service was a pat on the back—and enough trauma to last a lifetime.
"Hey, you were the one who said 'the sky's the limit,'" Ace protested, visibly embarrassed with all eyes now on him. He realized how foolish it was to think the government would be so generous.
"Yes," Janice replied sharply, "but then you asked for the sky."
"How about this—I'll give the intel to the McSuile family in exchange for unlimited access to all the curse arts in their library. Do we have a deal?" Ace proposed to Janice. Since he couldn't get access to the government's library, he decided to settle for the next best thing.
Seeing Janice look at him as if he were a fool, Ace quickly added, "Oh, come on, all you have to do is give me access to your family's curse arts in exchange for priceless intel on the forgotten colony of Roanoak and the Roanoans. You're not losing anything—just sharing what you already have. At most, I'll learn a few curse arts that actually suit me. I promise not to share anything I learn from your family's library with another human. Honestly, I am doing you guys a big favor here. Are you grateful enough to accept it?"
Thinking it over, Janice nodded. What Ace said made sense—at least in theory. She explained, "That could work, but you need to understand that there are three levels to my family's curse art library:
i) The Regular Inheritance – Accessible to all curse users who either work for or are related to the McSuile family. Users must exchange earned merits for the arts at this level.
ii) The Core Inheritance – Reserved for curse users related to the McSuile family by blood. However, retainers who have made significant contributions to the family may be granted access. Merits are still required to exchange for the arts here.
iii) The True Inheritance – Accessible only to direct descendants of the main family line. No one can access this level unless they are directly related to Patriarch McSuile by blood or tutelage, regardless of their contributions.
That is to say, I can only get you unlimited access to the Core Inheritance of the McSuile family," Janice explained.
"But if you want access to the True Inheritance, you'll need to be adopted or accepted as a disciple by my grandfather, one of his descendants or disciples, or one of their disciples and so on. There's no way around that.
One of my aunts was even divorced because the family refused to give her husband access to the True Inheritance. So, if you're satisfied with unlimited access to just the Core Inheritance, then we have a deal."
"Just to be clear," Ace said, narrowing his eyes, "unlimited access means I can use all the curse arts in your family's Core Inheritance without having to spend any merits to redeem them, right?"
"Yes. Don't worry, I'll prepare a detailed curse contract," Janice assured him, shaking her head slightly. She immediately pulled out a blank curse contract and began drafting it on the spot, as if afraid that leaving Ace alone for even a second might give him the chance to change his mind.
"Janice, I almost forgot, Delores is my great-grandma, so I shoul—"
Before Ace could finish his sentence, he found himself flying across the avocado orchard like a ragdoll.
