Chapter 80: Back Home II?

Thorne City was very large, and it was impossible for someone to travel through it in a single day. Because of the regulations, the use of martial skills and various techniques was prohibited in public.

Even powerful individuals would have to respect these rules as they were enforced by none other than the House of Thorne. Of course, powerful individuals wouldn’t travel the entire length of a city on foot.

They would use various magical beasts as mounts or ride inside carriages drawn by magical beasts. Such was the grandeur of the strong.

Beasts that were known for taking lives would be subdued, only to be used as mounts. As Adrian moved swiftly through the crowded streets of Thorne city, no particular event caught his eye.

After a few hours, he finally entered the core region of the city. From afar, he could see the various shops and stalls still open and in operation. The core region of the city was much quieter than the outer regions.

Only the strong and wealthy could reside here, making law and order much more stable and enforced.

Adrian ignored all of this as he finally made his way in front of his home.

His movements came to a slow halt as he could finally see the gates of the House of Thorne. Waves of emotions hit him as he saw everything safe and sound.

He began approaching it slowly, his legs becoming shaky with each step he took. The guards at the gate saw someone approaching them suspiciously and immediately became wary.

They were just about to inquire who he was when one of them suddenly recognized him. The guard that recognized him became surprised, but his movements didn’t falter.

He immediately placed a balled fist on his chest while bowing his head.

"Greetings, Young Master!"

He said in a loud, audible voice. Upon seeing their colleague, the other guards didn’t waste time and mirrored his movements.

The actions of the guards didn’t go unnoticed as the attention of the surrounding individuals became drawn to the scene.

Adrian, however, didn’t pay any attention to them. He walked passed them without even responding to them. The guards didn’t take offense to this and, instead, made way for him.

His steps became even slower when he was about to pass through the gates. Unknowingly, he hesitated, not sure whether he wanted to even enter.

Eventually, his feet carried him inside, where he was finally able to see what was happening there.

What he saw after passing through the gates made him heave a sigh of relief. Multiple servants and guards were all going about their various duties.

He turned his head, looking around in wonder, as if he were seeing this view for the first time. However, just as he was enjoying the view, a faint sense of longing started permeating through his heart again.

The sense of dread that he had been feeling transformed into something different as he suddenly wanted to see his family.

His steps quickened until he was full-on sprinting. All the servants, guards, and members of the branch families that Adrian saw along the way were taken aback when they saw such a scene.

Some were a bit annoyed, and the members of the branch families even wanted to scold the person causing such a ruckus. However, upon recognizing who it was, their attitudes immediately did a 180.

They quickly became respectful and tactfully stepped out of the way. The guards and servants followed suit while offering their greetings so no one would obstruct his path.

No one there was a fool. Seeing his condition, they knew better than to disturb him now. As no one blocked his way, it only took him a few minutes to get to the Main family’s compound.

The guards who were here looked more intimidating than those who were at the gates. Their eyes were fierce and constantly darting around, taking everything into view.

Even the insects couldn’t escape their view as they were very vigilant of their surroundings. When they saw Adrian running towards them, they immediately withdrew their weapons, ready to attack the supposed intruder.

However, because they were at a much higher realm than those at the gates, they were quickly able to recognize Adrian. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Like the guards at the gates, they placed their fists on their chests and bowed to him. However, before they could even offer their greetings, Adrian darted past them, completely ignoring them.

They were a bit surprised at his actions since they were more familiar with him than those at the gates.

While Adrian wasn’t overly friendly with them, he would at least acknowledge their presence and respond to their greeting, even if it was a simple nod of the head.

Nonetheless, they couldn’t question him as he was already inside.

Adrian’s sprint didn’t stop when he entered the Main family’s estate. He darted through the place until he finally reached a very familiar courtyard.

Only now did he stop his mad dash. Unlike other buildings in the Main family’s estate, this one didn’t have any guards.

He pushed open the gate and slowly entered the courtyard. Just as he wondered inside, he could hear a peal of faint laughter coming from the backyard.

When he heard that laughter, he felt his heartstrings being tugged. The anticipation of seeing his family again hit its peak as he immediately sprinted to the backyard.

In the backyard, a beautiful scene came into view.

In a quiet, sun-dappled garden surrounded by tall willow trees, flowers bloomed in every color—roses, orchids, and lotuses gently swayed in the breeze. A clear pond shimmered nearby, filled with koi and floating lily pads, while vines curled over stone arches and trellises.

At the center, on a small stone pavilion, two beautiful women sat across from each other, sharing tea. One wore a soft lavender robe, her dark hair pinned with a jeweled comb. The other wore pale green, her expression calm and thoughtful, her hair loosely tied back.

A porcelain tea set rested between them, steam rising from the cups with the sweet scent of jasmine.
