The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband-Chapter 377: Feels like a big scheme
Chapter 377: Feels like a big scheme
The ride to the seaside castle was quiet. Cedric has been silent the entire time. Abrielle thought he was thinking about the war and Kaiden’s conditions.
She was also thrown into her thoughts. Why did Kaiden suddenly fall sick?
"What do you think will make a father hate his child?" Cedric’s calm voice asked and her heart squeezed.
"Did your father send you to the border?" She asked Cedric. They knew Kaiden was going to send Cedric to the border once the war broke out but they didn’t know about Kaiden’s health condition.
That changed things a lot. "I will leave by dawn. You will still be asleep then." He answered and she grabbed his hand. She didn’t know what to say to him.
Maybe some sweet words that she would wait for him. She could not answer his question either. Why did Kaiden hate Cedric? It was something even Cedric knew.
Kaiden never saw him as his son but as a monster. A boy born with dead eyes, a boy whose existence was always covered up in darkness. They said Cedric was the cause of his mother’s death, which was why Kaiden hated him, because he had truly loved his mother.
Some whisper because he was the son of the lady who bewitched him. It was a question only Kaiden could answer.
"This storm will pass," Abrielle said, then leaned on his shoulder. She was going to help him. She knew how the war was won, and knew the conspiracies.
Maybe if she secretly gave him that information, this war that was meant to last for months would end earlier.
"I will try to rally supporters in case the worst happens. I will also write to my parents."
"That puts me more at ease but be careful with politics." He advised her, he didn’t know what she was capable of. The thought that she was willing to stand by his side placed his heart at ease.
He placed his palm on her hair, slowly weaving his fingers through the red locks.
She wished she could tell all she knew but there was no way to explain how she knew. She had to find a way to tell Cedric without revealing her identity.

The night was long, and Alfonso quietly stared at the fireplace. The castle walls felt lonely and too quiet. He lived alone in the white stone castle as no male royal aside from the king was allowed to live in the main palace.
Tomorrow, he leaves for war; the best they could think about was a way to end this war quickly before Kaiden dies. He drank quietly, running everything through his mind.
Kaiden’s illness was not natural. Someone wanted to take him off. Who was it? He wondered. Alfonso might not be physically talented like his brothers but his intellect wasn’t something to joke about
There was a slight knock on his door that drew his attention. "Your highness. Lady Karissa is here to see you." He heard Kaleb, his right-hand man, say.
"Let her in," he approved. Why was his mother coming to visit him now? He wasn’t in the mood for unnecessary talks.
A few minutes later, the door creaked open and a lady with auburn hair similar to Alfonso’s stepped in. Her gaze was calm as she watched her son drink next to the fire.
"I thought you were going to stop this habit now that your lover is back." Karissa sneered, Alfonso didn’t glance at her and continued to indulge in his alcohol.
He had been like this the entire time Abrielle was missing. It was frustrating when he was missing but dared not go out of his way to find her. He missed her, but couldn’t even hug her, all because she was Cedric’s and not his.
She was something he could only watch from a distance. "What are you here for? I leave tomorrow and getting into a fight is the last thing I want to do."
"That’s why I am here. Kaiden sent you off with Cedric. What if Cedric kills you, not just for the throne, but because you love his wife?" Karissa stated her fears.
Alfonso’s eyes narrowed as much as that was possible, he doubted Cedric would pull such a careless move. That wasn’t how Cedric works.
"I will be fine. I don’t think he would do that." Alfonso argued but Karissa wasn’t having it. She had invested so much in Alfonso to be relaxed in a period like this.
"What if he does? Eleanor has control over the majority of the court and Cedric’s influence has been growing. I think our best chance is to side with Lucian. At least Lucian will be considerate enough to spare your life." Karissa suggested. It was the same thing Alfonso had also thought of.
"But isn’t it strange?" Alfonso chimed, leaving Karissa puzzled. "What do you think is strange?"He stood up and threw the remaining contents of his glass into the flames. The fire surged up.
"Everything feels planned. First, Abrielle is kidnapped on the day of the festival, forcing Cedric to leave, while that was going on, a war started. I was busy providing support from the capital while Lucian had to rush to the front lines to assess the situation."
Alfonso started stating the trail of events. "Just a few days after Lucian got to the front lines, he was summoned back the same as Cedric, who luckily found his wife, just to find out Kaiden had fallen ill."
Karissa’s eyes went wide, realisation hit her. "Do you think it was planned by someone?" She stated. freewebnoveℓ.com
"Not even Eleanor can pull something of this nature." The king’s wife added
Alfonso walked towards his mother, "You are right, mother, not even Eleanor can do this. I have a feeling Kaiden will die sooner than we think. We have to be prepared "

The door to Abrielle’s room creaked open, and the faint light from the hall fell on the bed. The light fell on Abrielle who was still awake.
She sat by her bed staring at the window. "I wasn’t expecting you to still be awake," Cedric said as he slowly approached her.
"I can’t fall asleep. Cedric, I think someone planned everything. Do you think the ladies of the Moon might be behind it? Betty said she had a dream."
Abrielle turned slowly to her husband.
