The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 276: Is Lin Qianfan actually lucky?
She was watching him a little too eagerly. Her eyes were shining like bright diamonds as she waited for his verdict. Caishen suddenly felt pressured as he put the fork to his mouth. This little food tasting private home event might as well be the most important thing he would be doing on this day. He certainly didn’t want her to stop recommending things he had never tried. He had come to like it.
Her face was so close that she was almost breathing on him.
"Maybe you should back up a little." he suggested.
She nodded like a gecko and moved backwards but the hopeful look in her eyes did not die down.
He gulped, put the fork to his lips and the food in his mouth.
"So...." Alix said a little too eagerly.
He chewed slowly, giving himself an opportunity to taste and assess. When the corners of lips trembled, Alix had her answer. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Yes, score." she cheered.
Watching him eat was like watching a toddler eat and discover food for the first time in their life. He was particular about what he liked or didn’t like. If she didn’t prepare plan B, he would have gone to bed on nothing but a glass of milk.
As he got a second helping and a third, she settled down and enjoyed her pizza. Neither of them attempted to touch any of the games which she had prepared.
She moved her head a fraction towards him and said, "Mmm, I met my brothers. They are tall, well behaved and cute. Even their report cards are glowing, Wu Gang is a straight A student who excels most at mathematics. Surprisingly, Wu Wei plays the violin. I cannot help but wonder how Lin Qianfan somehow ended up with three sensible sons. Is he lucky? And what are the odds that three of his children have musical abilities?"
"Good things happen to bad people, isn’t that what they say?" he said, looking at his food while moving the fork playfully.
His response encouraged her to express her shock further. "It’s true, good things really happen to those that don’t deserve them. He is quite fitting with a snake like Billi and Jing Hee, their characters match. But the boys, they are the opposite of him."
"Aren’t you judging them a little too quickly?" He looked at her questioningly.
She was the same person whose plan it had been to study the boys carefully before drawing conclusions. It was beginning to sound like she was all but ready to jump into a relationship with her brothers head first.
"Well....." she moved her mouth around unsurely. "They are just kids, sad kids in need of someone to love them. You should see the way the younger one protects the older one. He shielded him even from my eyes when I looked at him for a little too long. I actually envy them."
"You said that Tai Ho Sun put his hand down to protect your head from a table." he chuckled and repeated, "A table. I am not sure what he was trying to prove. It’s not as if the table was going to attack you."
Alix rolled her eyes, and stared at him, expectant of the chuckle the moment he brought up Tai Ho Sun’s actions that she had told him about.
The two had plans to grab a meal this week but Alix wasn’t sure about how that would go. So far, two more of her brothers had apparently attached themselves to the plan as well.
Anyway, that wasn’t something to discuss for now. She shifted her long brunette hair over her left shoulder and opened a new pizza box.
"Hubby, do you have things that you like to eat? I would like to be better prepared next time."
"Not particularly, and there is nothing wrong with this. I like it when you do this, surprise me. If it were not for you, I would not know about your favorite aunt Sen’s place. By the way, her son has recovered. Did she tell you this?"
"Mmm." Alix mumbled with the nod of her head. "She sent me a video message expressing her gratitude and said that we have a life time free pass at her bistro. Anytime we need a meal, we never have to pay. Isn’t that awesome?"
"Alix,"
She turned her head at the sound of his voice calling her name rather softly.
"Do you happen to have anymore of those crystals? I gave half of my supply out to the professor, the psychologist as part of a deal to bring her back into the country for you..., us. It’s to aid in her research."
She nodded, completely unbothered. She had received so many of them after the final battle in the level two world. The only plans she had for them was to save some for emergency and use others in an acne cleanser. She had a list of specific products that she would be selling, and she was currently searching for a factory or a place where she could package her products.
"I will give you more tomorrow. Will two bottles be enough?"
He nodded.
"Is your father taking them as I prescribed? Have there been any changes in his state?" She asked curiously.
"He said that he is taking them when I saw him last, on Zhang Bo’s concert. I don’t want to lead with that question every time I see him so I will ask again during Zhang Bo’s inauguration."
The inauguration he was talking about was being arranged for the following week. The Zhang’s were pulling all the stops out make this event as perfect and smooth as possible. Alix for one wondered where they would put Na Na on that day. There was no way she would allow Yura and Zhang Xian to sit side by side as the parents of the new Zhang group of companies chairman while she sat in the back with the irrelevant people.
If anyone had sought her advise, she would have told them not to hold such a big party. Not when the potential was high for drama occurring which would embarrass the whole family, all three branches.
Date night, she reminded herself, there was no need to discuss heavy topics. Those could be discussed on any other day of the week.
"Hubby, do you want to go with me to Venice?"
The question was rather sudden, out of the blue and not connected to what they were discussing.
"Venice." he turned his head and shot her a rather surprised gaze.
"Next year, when summer comes, your legs will be working perfectly. We didn’t get the chance to go for a honeymoon. You said you wanted to see paintings and I want to take a trip overseas, the first in my life. Who better to keep me company than my husband?"
"Venice." he repeated in a wistful voice.
She nodded. "It could be fun and romantic, so think about it. Maybe when we are there, we can have a private wedding, just us two."
She picked up the nearest card game which happened to be solitaire and started shuffling the cards.
He watched her with twitching lips, as he set the empty bowl aside. He didn’t think a discussion about their childhood dreams would lead to this__, her deciding to help him fulfill a forgotten dream.
Caishen was sure now that he had married the sweetest woman in the world.
His heart fluttered, and he inhaled slowly through his nose. Apples, he could still smell those apples, and they smelled so damn good.
