These Familiars Are Strange-Chapter 281: Hiding in the camp?
At the same time, I was wondering how the Astral White Tiger had even found this Abyss Demon corpse in the first place.
What I had realized from the time that I spent with the Astral White Tiger is that it reacts to mana. That was what the Astral White Tiger picked up on whenever it wanted to guide me somewhere.
If there was no mana, there shouldn't have been anything that drew in the Astral White Tiger in the first place.
So did that mean that it wasn't the Abyss Demon's corpse that drew the Astral White Tiger to this place?
Was there something else that had drawn in the Astral White Tiger?
I looked down at the Astral White Tiger and found that it was indeed looking at the Abyss Demon. However, when I looked at the Astral White Tiger closely, I found that it didn't seem to be looking at the Abyss Demon corpse…
It was strange, but it felt like it was looking at something that was behind the Abyss Demon corpse.
Though if that was the case, then it would just be looking at the ground.
So there had to be something here that was drawing the attention of the Astral White Tiger.
With this thought passing through my mind, I moved closer to take a closer look at the Abyss Demon corpse.
Only it wasn't as if I knew what I should be looking for.
In the first place, it wasn't as if I was an expert on Abyss Demons. It wasn't as if I knew everything there was to know about Abyss Demons that I would know when something was off.
In my eyes, it really seemed like there was nothing off about this Abyss Demon corpse.
That was until I noticed something strange on the neck of the Abyss Demon.
"Are those bite marks?" I couldn't help muttering under my breath as I looked at the thing that was on the neck of the Abyss Demon.
I had been doubtful at first, but the more that I looked at it, the more certain I was that these were bite marks. At the same time, it really felt like these bite marks weren't just simple bite marks.
Looking closely, it seemed to be that these bite marks were from something sharp instead of normal teeth.
It was as if fangs had sunk in and had sucked something out.
It was almost as if it had been bitten by some kind of vampire.
But where would a vampire have suddenly come from?
There were vampires in this world that were filled with gates and dungeons, but those were special monsters that were only found in certain places. They certainly wouldn't be in a place like the Abyss where only Abyss Demons were.
If they actually came to a place like this, there was no doubt that there would be some kind of conflict between them and the Abyss Demons.
"Wait, if it was a vampire…" I couldn't help muttering to myself, but I quickly shook that thought out of my mind.
Instead, I focused on the Astral White Tiger and said, "What is it that's got your attention?"
The Astral White Tiger looked at me before pointing at the Abyss Demon corpse that was on the ground.
So it was something that had to do with the Abyss Demon corpse?
After thinking about it, I went forward to push the Abyss Demon corpse aside to see if there really was something under it. Only the moment that I came closer, there was this black energy that suddenly came out of the Abyss Demon corpse's gaping wound.
This black energy didn't hesitate to come right at me.
With the way that it spread out, it seemed like it wanted to envelope me rather than hurt me. It was almost as if it wanted to take over my body rather than do anything else.
I raised my hand and prepared to fight it, but there was no need.
The Astral White Tiger suddenly opened its mouth and started sucking.
The same thing happened where there was a restrictive force that came over the black energy and it was pulled towards the Astral White Tiger.
Only this time, the Astral White Tiger didn't swallow it like it had done previously.
Instead, the Astral White Tiger stopped right before it swallowed it and suddenly released a breath of flames at this dark energy. The dark energy didn't seem like it was able to resist when it met these flames, being scattered by the flames in the end.
Once the Astral White Tiger was done with the dark energy, it seemed to let out a sigh of relief before turning to look at me. With the way that it looked at me, it was as if it was asking if I was alright.

I patted the Astral White Tiger on the head before saying, "I'm fine, don't worry about me." But then I added, "What was that thing?"
The Astral White Tiger didn't try to explain anything, it just simply shook its head as if it was saying that it didn't know.
I couldn't help narrowing my eyes when I saw this.
It wasn't as if I wanted to doubt the Astral White Tiger, but it had been able to find this dark energy and had even led me here. So it really felt like the Astral White Tiger had some kind of understanding of it.
But in the end, I chose to let this go.
After all, there was a look on the Astral White Tiger's face that made me drop this matter.
"Is there more?" I suddenly asked the Astral White Tiger.
It gave a nod before looking at me with the same worried look.
"Where?"
The Astral White Tiger pointed in a certain direction.
I didn't even need to follow this to know where it was pointing.
"So whatever it is…it's hiding out in the camp?" I asked the Astral White Tiger.
The response was a simple nod that put a grim look on my face.
