This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!-Chapter 153 - : For the Sake of the Stone
Chapter 153: Chapter 153: For the Sake of the Stone
Chen Ke returned to his residence at 7 p.m.
The sky gradually darkened, and the last rays of the sunset burned through the clouds on the horizon, painting the entire sky a deep blue like a chopping board splattered with thick blood.
The entire apartment building was draped in the blood-red afterglow of the sunset, and Chen Ke saw a silhouette standing by the window of his dwelling.
They were waiting for him.
Chen Ke pulled out his newly bought iPhone and called Lester, asking his subordinate to deliver the suit later. Then he entered the elevator.
The apartment door was slightly ajar, and the lights were off inside. Cold air blew out from the gap. He pulled the door open and walked in, then casually shut it behind him.
In front of the bedroom window, a woman leaned against the wall, arms crossed, staring straight at him.
She wore a black hooded coat, her entire face hidden in the shadows. Due to the backlight, Chen Ke could only see her bright red lips. The coat hem reached her knees, her calves were white, and she was barefoot.
Chen Ke threw the phone box onto the bed and then pulled a stool over to sit down. He didn’t take out his gun or summon the Holy Relics, as he didn’t sense any killing intent from her.
Before he left this time, Chen Ke had taken all his diamonds and even bought a small wallet with a zipper pocket specifically to carry the Holy Diamond closely, especially since he had already attracted Yasla’s attention and had to be wary of an attack at any time.
“You don’t seem to be afraid at all,” the woman said with a smile to Chen Ke.
“I’ve never been afraid,” Chen Ke chuckled.
The corners of the woman’s mouth lifted slightly, she stretched out her hands and lifted her hood back, revealing her shiny bald head.
By Western standards, she was the kind of beauty that could bring disaster to a country. Her eyes twinkled with a faint red light, and there was a purple rune mark on her forehead.
Chen Ke immediately recognized her as the Silent Witch who had taken Lucina away at noon.
“Your courage comes from ignorance. You have no idea what it means to oppose Yasla,” the witch said mildly.
“Oh well, I’m not the one opposing; you are the ones opposing me,” Chen Ke spread his hands.
“It seems you don’t care much about your partner,” the witch said with a laugh.
“She’s just a partner in robbery to me, not as important as you might think. If she dies, I’ll get a bigger share of the money,” Chen Ke shrugged.
“So, you don’t plan to use the Holy Diamond to get your partner back?” the witch raised an eyebrow.

“No… I’d rather get my partner back than keep the Holy Diamond,” Chen Ke stated.
“Why?” the witch asked curiously.
“Because I promised her father that I’d bring his daughter back,” Chen Ke said coldly.
For a moment, the witch’s eyes lost their sparkle, as if she was recalling some sad memories, but she quickly returned to her previous demeanor.
“Then, give me the Holy Diamond now, and she will be back tomorrow,” the witch said.
“No,” Chen Ke flatly refused.
“Yasla never lies,” the witch stated.
“And Chen Ke never negotiates,” Chen Ke smiled.
“You have to know, Yasla is sparing your life right now only because you have the diamond,” the witch coldly declared.
“You also need to understand, I am sparing your life right now only because she is still in your hands,” Chen Ke laughed.
The Silent Witch furrowed her brow, her pupils radiating a red halo as she stared intently at Chen Ke. But after a few seconds, the halo dissipated. Chen Ke spread his hands; he had thought the witch was about to take him away.
“Midnight, bring the diamond to the Bulland Cookie Factory on the outskirts of town, come alone, and you will meet her,” the witch said.
After she spoke, the red glow in her eyes scattered like a flood, forming a pale red mist that enveloped her, pulling her into the black vortex behind her.
Once she had completely disappeared, the vortex gradually shrank until only a red dot remained in mid-air.
Chen Ke snorted, watching the red dot slowly vanish. After a while, he muttered to himself, “I will too.”

9 PM, Spiritual Ability Research Institute, 38th floor of the Great Void Research Building.
Mansis returned to his office to find the door unlocked, moonlight streaming through the windows into the hallway. Spring had arrived, but tonight’s temperature had dropped quite a bit.
Mansis rubbed his temples, aware of who his visitor tonight would be. He composed himself and pushed open the door.
His private office wasn’t especially large; three large bookshelves stood against the walls, a large globe next to the couch, a small desk lamp on, casting an orange light. In the shadows where the light didn’t reach, a figure was waiting.
“Corrigan…” Mansis began slowly.
Corrigan, the founder of Si’s Consortium and the true mastermind behind it. He had also, through his limitless financial support during Mansis’s youth, established Mansis’s status in the academic world.
“Look at you, Mansis… We’ve known each other for just 40 years, and now you’ve become so aged…” Corrigan’s frail voice came from the darkness.
“All life meets its end; it is a natural law,” Mansis responded.
Corrigan stepped out from the shadows, slowly walking into the light. He wore a black hooded robe, his entire being bathed in shadows, hands lightly brushing over the desk surface, like dried, forked branches.
“No… Death is an insult to life, it is a curse,” Corrigan shook his head.
“Corrigan, tell me, do you really feel alive at this moment?” Mansis sighed.
“I am the man who deceived death, what do you think?” Corrigan stepped forward, his withered hands lifting the hood to reveal his desiccated face.
He was terribly old, his muscles shrunk to their limits, barely maintaining his human form. His shriveled head, features huddled together, pupils without any luster, his toothless mouth and coiled tongue able to speak was a miracle.
If Mansis hadn’t watched Corrigan shrink year by year to his current state, the sight of this distorted face alone might have driven him insane.
In 1929, at the age of 30, Corrigan founded his own family business, initially a small company focused on logging and paper-making. With time changes, it gradually expanded its business across various industries.
As the founder of Si’s Consortium, Corrigan had lived for 112 years.
The man who cheated death, his life sustained by the wedge-shaped stone embedded in his head: the Symbiotic Stone.
The stone was embedded in the right frontal lobe of Corrigan’s head, like a demon’s horn, completely black with blue luminous patterns on its surface, gradually fading to white starting from the tip. The blue patterns concentrated near the insertion point on the forehead.
“Mansis, you know why I have come to see you,” Corrigan said.
Mansis, of course, knew; he was seeking a new Symbiotic Stone.
