This Young Master is not Cannon Fodder-Chapter 572: Visitors from Afar
The Numinous Sword Sect ultimately did not publicize Bao Ling’s desertion. Yes, desertion. No matter the reason, leaving the sect was treason.
Part of the reason why the Numinous Sword Sect did not publicize the matter was because it was a huge scandal. Bao Ling was known as the number one genius of the sect and reached the Extremity Immortal Realm very quickly, the Numinous Sword Sect’s Tianyi. Losing him would cause many to question the Numinous Sword Sect, lowering their prestige.
Still, that was small matters with a sword god appearing from the sect. They may question, but they would never do so in front of them, nor would they dare to harbor any rebellious thoughts in the face of absolute might.
Saving Divinity Yanxu’s face was only a small reason. Not to mention the two’s relationship. Although he treasured Bao Ling, the upper echelon didn’t think he would let his personal feelings interfere with the Numinous Sword Sect’s interest.
No, their silence was because of Bao Ling’s mysterious origins. Divinity Yanxu did not hide what happened in the Immortal Slaying Sword Peak. After hearing his words, all the upper echelon knew that Bao Ling wasn’t just a talented disciple.
According to their guess, Bao Ling should be a powerful expert from the Primordial Era who survived through reincarnation. Otherwise, it would be impossible to explain his farewell letter. And his identity was not some unknown disciple of the Interception Sect, the predecessor of the Numinous Sword Sect.
It was likely Bao Ling was someone from the second generation or the third generation, like Daoist Duobao, Sacred Mother Jinling, Sacred Mother Wudang, Sacred Mother Guiling, Zhao Gongming, Yunxiao, Bixiao, Qiongxiao, Sacred Mother Huoling, etc. Otherwise, there was no explanation why he knew about the four Immortal Exterminating Swords, including the formation diagram.
Bao Ling’s parting gift was instructions to create the Immortal Exterminating Sword Formation Diagram. Although it was hard, the Numinous Sword Sect already had the core component, the Allheaven Jianmu Tree. As long as they could refine the formation diagram and retrieve the Immortal Confining Sword, they could set up the formation and use it to restore the Immortal Ending Sword by relying on the resonance between the four swords!
Considering his gift and the consequences of angering him, the Numinous Sword Sect decided to bury the matter forever.
The Numinous Realm became peaceful. So were the lower realms. Both the Immortal Court and the Numinous Sword Sect were focused on expanding their influence and accumulating faith, resources, and other needs. And so, a hundred years passed since the divine sermon.
At the edge of the Vast Void, the endless space trembled and deformed. A white dot appeared, its difference magnified against the emptiness. Space continued to twist and distort until a pure white temple with square foundations appeared.
The marble temple was supported by large pillars made in the Corinthian style. The slanted roof and square base made it appear drastically different from any style in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.
In the center of the temple stood three people, two men and one woman. Like the architecture, the three of them dressed in completely different styles than the people of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.
Each one wore a chiton, a large piece of fabric wrapped around them and tied above their shoulders. They were white in color, pale and silky. The woman’s clothes reached her ankles, while the men’s clothing stopped mid-calf. A sash bounded the fabric around the waist. The woman had a wide scarf that covered one of her shoulders called a palla. The men had two cloaks draped to their knees, called chlamyses.
It wasn’t just their clothing, but their physical features. Their bone structures were different, giving them different facial features. One man had dark hair and vibrant green eyes, while the other two had blond hair and blue eyes. Those two shared similar features and were obviously siblings.
Many cultivators had different colored eyes and hair, like purple, blue, or even rainbow, but that was the result of their cultivation method. Natural blond and blue eyes were incredibly rare.
“Finally,” the man with black hair said. His muscles rippled as he crossed his arm. “Although this isn’t the first time, traveling the True Nothingness is always a treacherous journey.”
“Haven’t you gotten used to it yet, Hyllus?” the blond man asked. Compared to Hyllus, he had a more slim figure, but no less defined.
“I’m not like you,” Hyllus said. “As His Majesty’s son, I’ve been traveling through the True Nothingness many more times, and I understand its danger far better than you. This time, the journey was unexpectedly smooth. We were lucky.”
“Even if it’s a little dangerous, aren’t we protected by the Parthenon?” the blond man said, pointing at the ground.
“Although the Parthenon is powerful, we can’t always rely on it, Castor,” the woman said.
“Understood, Sister,” Castor said.
Hyllus sighed. “Why do you always think light of my words, but never question Pollux’s words?”
“You’re my nephew, not my sister,” Castor said succinctly.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
“You!” Hyllus really had no words for that. “Even if you are His Majesty’s half-brother, I’m still his son, you know?”
Pollux interrupted before a fight could start. “Boys, stop arguing. Don’t forget our mission.”
At this, Hyllus and Castor stopped talking. Although they had their little spats, it was all in good fun. Even if it escalated, it was nothing a brawl couldn’t fix.
“Still, among all the systems I visited, the Pangu System is the most hidden. If it weren’t for our abilities, it would have been difficult to locate it,” Pollux said.
“That’s why you came with me,” Hyllus said. “Let’s gather information first. The divinities of all systems suffered greatly against the devils. I wonder how many of them are left here in the Pangu System.”
“Who cares?” Castor asked. “Although I didn’t participate in that great war, I heard it was a devastating battle. Among all the systems, there should be none that have more than our Herakles System.”
“Don’t underestimate the Pangu System,” Hyllus said. “During the great war, most of the participants below the Divine Realm came from the Pangu System. They have a method that can allow ordinary mortals to gain the power of demigods, and a few can even reach godhood.”
“That’s not a rumor?” Pollux asked. “I thought that was nothing more than their boasting.”
“So what?” Castor asked. “Even if they can reach the divine level, can they compare to our Herakles System?”
Hyllus didn’t rebut him. No matter how many demigod-level experts there were, they could not compare to divinities outside of special circumstances.
“Let’s investigate first,” Pollux said. “All systems experienced destruction by the devils and it’s not known if they retain any of the history. Luckily, it shouldn’t be too bad, unlike the Trimurti System. At least it hasn’t been destroyed, even if the land fractured.”
Hyllus’s eyes shone with a belligerent gleam. “If they lost all inheritances and there is no divinity, there’s no need to negotiate. Just conquer them and make them a vassal of the Herakles System!”
The Parthenon traversed the Vast Void and entered the closest realm. They didn’t learn much, so they left and entered another realm. Through their repeated investigations, they learned that it was no longer the Pangu System, but had another name.
“Wow, Three Thousand Immortal Realms System. Aren’t they afraid of biting their tongue every time they say it?” Castor snarked.
Disregarding their thoughts on the rename, the three foreigners learned quite a bit about the current status quo. The three counted their blessings and decided to investigate. Although it was unclear, there were actually three divinities in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.
“It seems that the Pangu System is recovering. It’s unexpected, but in this case, we do have a target now,” Castor said.
“Three Thousand Immortal Realms System,” Hyllus corrected.
Castor glanced at him. “If you want to bite your tongue, you keep saying that.”
“But who should we contact? There are two forces with divinities now. The Immortal Court has two, and the Numinous Sword Sect has one,” Pollux said, interjecting before the two could start an argument again.
“Why do we only need to invite one? Just invite both of them,” Hyllus said. Although it was a group of three and they often bicker, he was ultimately the leader, so the two would listen to him.
“That makes sense,” Pollux said. “Who should we visit first?”
Logically speaking, they should visit the more powerful force, and it should be the Immortal Court that was more powerful since it had two divinities.
Pollux raised her hand, holding a metallic plate. “Speaking of which, this thing is really convenient. We should make a version ourselves for the Herakles System.”
For once, both Hyllus and Castor were in agreement.
“I really didn’t expect it,” Castor said. “These people seem all prim and proper, but they are actually quite depraved.”
Once again, Hyllus nodded in agreement. “The figures of the women here are a bit too plain, but some of them are really nice. Especially the perfect ratio. I really want to try them before I leave.”
Pollux sneered in disgust as she looked at the perverted expressions on the two’s faces. “Be serious. We’re discussing an alliance. You can play, but don’t leave your bloodline behind.”
“We’re just joking, no need to take it seriously,” Castor said.
Hyllus agreed. “In that case, let’s visit the Immortal Court first. Although the Xiyinet has some information, it was pitifully sparse. All we know is that the Immortal Court and the Numinous Sword Sect waged a war against the Demon Clan and won. The Demon Clan surrendered and their patron deity, the Divine Lord of Mount Magu, joined the Immortal Court. It’s definitely not that simple.”
The three quickly determined their first destination and moved. Because they were wary of divinities’ methods, they did not enter the immortal-rank realms. Well, the ones ruled by the Immortal Court and the Numinous Sword Sect. When they learned about the Virtuous Realm, they lost interest because it was not headed by a divinity.
The Parthenon Temple was powerful, able to traverse the True Nothingness, but that didn’t mean it was infallible. If they tried to sneak into the Numinous Realm or Primordial Realm, they had no guarantee they could avoid the divinity’s senses. So, they decided to appear in a grand manner.
When they entered the Primordial Realm, the Parthenon emitted a divine light that bathed all that touched it gold. The opening in the sky healed after the temple fully entered and began its slow descent. With the Parthenon’s power, the three of them zeroed in on the entrance to the Buzhou Immortal Island, the Mortal Severance Gate.
Hyllus, Castor, and Pollux expected the members of the Immortal Court to appear in droves, armed and ready. However, they didn’t see such an act. Instead, they saw rows of people standing behind the gate, watching them as if they were waiting. The people had no intention of stopping them at all.
Hyllus frowned, having his expectations blown. Although it was not the first time they were welcomed, it was basically only with systems that they had already established contact with, or immediately noticed by the divinities within. He felt as if the Immortal Court was telling him that they had long noticed and were waiting for him.
Still, he forced himself to calm down.
The Parthenon connected with the edge of the floating island and the three of them walked out, followed by a hundred servants. The servants could only be comparable to mortal cultivators and had no hope of reaching the demigod level outside of literal divine intervention. If the people of the Immortal Court attacked them, the servants would be useless, and if the three of them could not make it back to the Parthenon, they would surely be captured or killed.
But Hyllus, Castor and Pollux stilled only for a moment before walking out. For they were the children of the divine.
