Transmigrated As An Extra In The Apocalypse-Chapter 58 - 57: Lesson
Chapter 58: Chapter 57: Lesson
"Spectator," I called out, my voice echoing softly in the emptiness. "You said I have to figure things out for myself, but... I think I would need some guidance. I don’t quite know where to start."
There was a pause, and then the figure spoke, calm and steady as always.
"Very well. I will explain what I can. But remember, the answers you seek are within you. I can only point you in the right direction."
I nodded.
"Okay. Start with absolute self-resurrection. What is it? How does it work?"
The Spectator’s voice took on a more instructive tone, like a teacher addressing a student.
"Absolute self resurrection is a rare and powerful ability. It grants you the power to return to life, no matter how you are destroyed or who destroy you. Whether by blade, fire, or even the passage of time, you will always come back. It is not immortality but some may call it that, you can still feel pain, still experience death, but it ensures that death is never the end for you."
I blinked, trying to process that.
"So... I can’t die? Like, at all?"
"Not permanently," the Spectator clarified. "You will always return. But do not mistake this for invincibility. You can still be defeated, still be incapacitated, well it depends on you. But you cannot remain dead."
I frowned, my mind racing.
"But... why do I have this ability? How did I get it?"
"It was inherited," the Spectator said. "From your tame, Ori. The bond between a Beast Master and their beast is deeper than you think, and for every beast you tame, you must inherit one or more abilites of it. Ori’s essence has become a part of you, and with it, the power of Absolute Self-Resurrection."
I felt a pang of guilt at the mention of Ori.
I hadn’t thought about him much since I woke up in this void.
"Is Ori... okay?" I asked hesitantly.
"Ori is fine, nothing can kill him permanently also" the Spectator assured me. "But you must remember, your bond is a two-way street. Ori is not just a tool to be used, he is a partner. And yet, in your last battle, you fought alone. You did not fight together with it, You did not utilize the strength of your bond. That was one of your greatest mistakes."
I winced at the criticism.
The Spectator was right.
Ori didn’t fight alongside me during that fight, because I didn’t give it the space to.
Maybe it is because I am quite used to being solo.
I’d been so focused on my own desperation to survive, that I’d forgotten that if we fought together maybe I wouldn’t have died.
"I... I didn’t think," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "I just wanted to survive."
"Determination to survive is normal and compulsory," the Spectator said. "But it can also be your greatest enemy. Because it blinds you from using your advantages well in battle, you let that control you, and that was what Fen wanted. You became desperate, reckless. You focused only on winning, on defeating your opponent, rather than observing, strategizing, and utilizing your resources."
I clenched my fists, frustration bubbling up inside me.
"I didn’t know what to do! I was outmatched. My opponent was stronger, faster... I didn’t stand a chance."
"Strength and speed are not the only factors in a battle," the Spectator said, its tone firm. "You failed because you did not understand your enemy. You did not look for weaknesses, did not adapt to the situation. And you failed to understand yourself. You have abilities, Sky. A Beast Master’s power, a weapon that can negate anything, and Absolute Self-Resurrection. Yet, you did not use them to their full potential."
I opened my mouth to say something, but then I stopped.
The Spectator was right.
I had failed.
Not because I was weak, but because I hadn’t thought.
I hadn’t planned.
I’d just charged in, hoping for the best, and it had cost me.
"My gun," I said suddenly, remembering the weapon I’d carried into battle. "You said it has the ability to negate anything. What does that mean?"
"Your gun is no ordinary weapon," the Spectator explained. "It is imbued with the Ash of Negation, a substance that can nullify any force, any power. It is a formidable tool, but one you have not used effectively. In your last battle, you fired blindly, hoping to hit your target. You did not aim, did not think. You treated it as a simple weapon, rather than the powerful artifact it is."
I groaned, running a hand through my hair.
I’m such an idiot, I had all these advantages, and I didn’t use any of them.
Was i so scared of dying that I didn’t even stop to think.
"Fear can cloud the mind," the Spectator said. "But it can also be a teacher. You have faced death, Sky. You have experienced it. And yet, you are still here. Use that knowledge. Let it guide you, rather than control you."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions inside me.
The Spectator was right.
I had been afraid, afraid of dying.
But I didn’t need to be.
Not anymore.
I had Absolute Self-Resurrection.
I couldn’t die.
Not permanently, at least.
And I had Ori.
And Doom.
I had everything I needed to survive for now.
I just hadn’t used it.
"What do I do now?" I asked, my voice steadier now. "How do I get better? How do I... not fail again?"
"The first step is to understand yourself," the Spectator said. "You must know your abilities, your strengths, and your weaknesses. And you must learn to observe. In battle, knowledge is power. Understand your enemy, and you will find their weaknesses. Understand yourself, and you will find your strength."
I nodded slowly, letting it sink in my head.
"That is a good start," the Spectator said. "But remember, You have a long journey ahead of you. Do not rush it. Take the time to learn, to grow. to evolve."
I smiled faintly.
"Thanks, Spectator. I think that is what I needed to hear that."
"You are welcome," the Spectator said. "But remember, for every question you have, the answers you seek are within you... Or rather yet, is you, I will only give you the answers I can give, to avoid spoilers. I will leave the rest to you."
"So what else can I learn about myself." I asked.
"Your gun... It’s time for you to tame it"
