Transmigrated As An Extra In The Apocalypse-Chapter 67 - 66: War
Chapter 67: Chapter 66: War
The air was thick with the stench of blood and burning flesh.
The ground beneath me trembled as countless feet pounded against the dirt, the guttural roars of orcs mingling with the shrill shrieks of goblins.
Chaos reigned, but I had no time to take it all in.
My gun was steady in my hands, my breath controlled, my mind sharp.
I had one job... To kill them all.
I took a position I had a clear view of the battlefield.
Before me, a swarm of goblins emerged from the tree line, little green monsters with wild eyes, their shrieks puncturing the tension that enveloped us.
Each one was small and wiry, but the sheer volume was terrifying.
They weren’t strong, but they were fast, their numbers endless.
And behind them, towering orcs marched, their hulking forms pushing through the goblin ranks like war machines, their bloodthirsty eyes locked onto our lines.
They rushed toward me with incredible speed.
I gritted my teeth and pulled the trigger.
Bang!
A goblin’s head snapped back, its body crumpling mid-sprint.
I shifted my aim, fired again.
Another one down.
Bang! Bang!
Each shot found its mark.
Some went down instantly, while others twitched on the ground, screeching in agony before being trampled by their own kind.
But no matter how many fell, more took their place.
It was chaotic, the sound of the goblins mixing with the roars of orcs.
"Keep your fire controlled!" I barked at the newbies.
My shots were precise, but even with my accuracy only, it wasn’t enough.
The goblins were closing in.
I focused on the nearest goblin, a particularly obnoxious one jumping around with a rusted dagger.
I inhaled deeply, steadying my breath.
I aimed my gun at it, feeling muscle and instinct work together for aim.
Bang!
I shot, the bullet slicing through the air with an effortless grace.
The goblin let out a squeal before falling silent, expertly dispatched before it could do anything.
An awakened to my right unleashed a burst of flames from his hands, incinerating a cluster of goblins before they could reach us.
Another awakened, further ahead, slammed his hammer into the ground, sending a shockwave through the battlefield, knocking creatures off their feet.
Gunfire roared all around me, and the sky lit up with bursts of elemental energy, fire, lightning, ice, each ability carving through the monstrous horde.
It was a beautiful, deadly symphony of destruction.
But then the orcs reached us.
I saw it before I heard it, a massive, gray-skinned beast charging forward, a crude axe the size of a grown man gripped tightly in its hands.
A soldier tried to stop it, unloading an entire clip into its chest, but the orc barely flinched.
It roared, swinging its weapon in a brutal arc.
The soldier didn’t stand a chance.
Blood sprayed into the air as his body was sent flying, hitting the ground like a ragdoll.
The orc turned, its yellowed eyes locking onto me next.
I didn’t hesitate.
I aimed and fired at its knee, knowing that shooting its thick skull would be useless.
The bullet struck home, and the beast stumbled, its balance momentarily thrown off.
"Hit their joints!" I shouted to the others.
A spear of ice shot past me, piercing through another orc’s leg.
It roared, falling to one knee before being finished off by a barrage of gunfire.
Suddenly goblins rush forward, but my training kicked in weightlessly.
Bang! Bang!
One by one, I brought each down, their cries muffled by the clash of steel and the thunder of chaos surrounding me.
My focus was sharp, adrenaline pumping.
A burly man with a great sword swung his weapon in elegant arcs, cleaving through goblins with a practiced ease.
His gruff shouts mingled with laughter I couldn’t quite explain, there was fear, surely, but amid it was the undeniable camaraderie born out of shared danger.
"Amber! Cover me!" He yelled, his face streaked with grime.
He lunged towards a group, blocking the vicious little claws that threatened to tear into his defenses.
Bang!
I shot at it, the bullet embedding itself in a goblin’s eye, saving him in the nick of time.
Magic flared nearby as one awakened archers summoned the winds to whip around us, increasing our chances and morale.
For a moment I felt dread, didn’t know why, but when I feel that, I know that something bad was about to happen.
And then, the ground trembled.
It felt as if the earth beneath us shuddered, a terrifying sound unfurling from the perimeter of the forest.
More orcs appeared, hulking creatures that dwarfed the goblins.
They roared with an anger that vibrated through the air, some newbies stood momentarily paralyzed.
The orcs muscles were tight and thick, bulging beneath crudely stitched leather armor.
I watched as an awakened, charged bravely forward, only to be struck down by an orc with a colossal warhammer that gleamed wickedly in the dim light.
My stomach churned at the sight.
It was as if a tree had fallen under the weight of a storm.
"Fall back! Fall back!" shouted a soldier just as the orc snapped its eyes towards me, its guttural growl escalating the urgency of my situation.
I glared at it.
The orc stiffed, In an instant, all it life was drained out, and it dropped dead.
Suddenly, I noticed movement at the periphery, a cluster of goblins had spotted a clueless newbie soldier staggering, eyes wide with panic as they closed in on him.
A young awakened, gripped by fear and his hands were shaking struggling to reload his rifle.
A goblin was closing in, its jagged dagger raised high, ready to strike.
I moved before I could think.
Bang!
The goblin collapsed at the soldier’s feet, its body twitching before going still.
"Get up!" I snapped, grabbing him by the collar of his suit and yanking him to his feet. "You wanna die here?"
He gulped, nodding frantically.
"Then fight!"
I raised my gun, but I could feel the weight of the world on my shoulders as I aimed toward the goblins surrounding him.
With one swift motion, I released shot, striking one down.
I couldn’t waste time, i dashed into the fray, calling out to the young awakened.
"Get up! Move!" My voice rang like thunder, urgency dripping from my every syllable.
He looked at me, his fright palpable and unbridled.
He attempted to rise, only to stumble, fear anchoring him to the ground.
"Just follow my lead!" I shouted over the cacophony of groans and shouts, diving toward him as another goblin lunged.
Bang!
I shot it on midair.
"Come on!" I said.
Once he was on his feet, I grabbed his arm, yanking him to stand beside me.
I activated my healing abilities, a warm green glow sparking from my fingertips and enveloping him.
His fright faded, replaced with a dawning realization, I could see the gratitude in his face as his injuries began to stitch themselves back together.
"Thank you," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "I thought I was finished."
"You’re not done yet." I said, pushing him towards the chaos, grabbing my gun and shot at an approaching orc who nearly barreled through.
Another goblin leaped at him from behind.
I stepped forward, raising my gun, but before I could fire, something slammed into my side.
I hit the ground hard, the impact knocking the air from my lungs.
A weight pressed down on me, an orc.
It had blindsided me, tackling me to the ground.
Its disgusting breath washed over me as it raised it fist.
I rolled at the last second.
The ground where my head had been cracked under the force of the orc’s punch.
Too close.
I kicked upward, my boot connecting with the orc’s face.
It barely reacted.
I needed space.
Twisting my body, I reached for my sidearm, but the orc grabbed my arm, squeezing tight enough that I swore I heard something crack.
Pain exploded through my wrist.
Not good. Not good.
I don’t want to use that ability.
Then, out of nowhere, fire erupted across the orc’s chest.
It howled, releasing me as it staggered back.
I looked up to see the young awakened from before, hands outstretched, flames flickering at his fingertips.
He had saved me.
I didn’t waste the chance.
I grabbed my gun, flipped it to full auto, and unloaded the entire clip into the orc’s exposed throat.
The bullets tore through its flesh, and it finally fell, gurgling on its own blood.
I pushed myself up, my entire body aching.
"You okay?" the soldier asked, his voice shaky.
I nodded, wincing.
"Yeah... good job."
His eyes lit up for a moment before he turned his attention back to the fight.
Instantly my wounds knit themselves back together, due to my self instant healing ability, my wound will always heal, making it impossible for me to die. freēwēbnovel.com
But then I heard it.
The tide turned when the sudden gales of wind picked up, scattering debris as additional goblin and orc hordes emerged, snarling and rattling their weapons.
The sound growing louder as they approached.
I turned.
My heart sank.
They were hundreds, no, thousands.
The forest seemed to have birthed even more trouble as these foes marched ominously towards us.
I felt the dread wash over me like a cold river, but I resisted.
The battlefield stretched far into the distance, and the horizon was moving.
The horde was endless.
I gritted my teeth, tightening my grip on my gun.
This wasn’t over.
Not even close.
"We need to regroup!" I called out, looking at my fellow awakened.
The faces of awakened and soldiers were etched with anxiety and exhaustion, but each nodded.
"Ready yourselves!" I called out again, adrenaline surging one final time as I aimed my gun toward the new horde.
