Chapter 81: Chapter 80: Attack On Orc Lord (5)

As the orc lord was standing watching us

Suddenly a shadow loomed from above.

For a split second, everything seemed to slow.

Through the dust and swirling debris, Edward, his body battered but still overflowing with sheer force, came plummeting down from the sky, his fist clenched like a war hammer descending from the heavens.

The moment his knuckles reached the orc lord’s thick skull--

BOOM!

A shockwave tore through the battlefield, the sheer force of his impact ripping apart the already devastated ground beneath us.

Massive fissures cracked open, swallowing debris whole.

The air itself seemed to tremble under the weight of his attack.

For the first time, the orc lord didn’t laugh.

Instead, his massive hand shot up, catching Edward’s fist in his gargantuan grip.

The pressure of their clash sent waves of force rippling outward, kicking up a storm of dirt and shattered stone.

I felt the ground shake beneath my feet, the sheer power of their struggle making it nearly impossible to keep my balance.

Beth had to retreat a few steps, her eyes narrowing as she took aim once again.

For a moment, there was silence.

Then—

With a roar that shook the sky, the orc lord twisted his body and flung Edward like a ragdoll.

Straight at me.

"Shit—!"

I barely had time to react.

My instincts kicked in, my body moving before my mind could catch up.

I lunged forward, arms outstretched...

And caught him.

The impact sent us both skidding back, my boots dragging deep into the fractured ground as I fought to keep us upright.

Edward was heavy, his body radiating heat, muscles trembling from the sheer force of his attack.

He groaned, shifting slightly in my hold.

"Damn... I think I loosened his teeth."

I glanced up at the orc lord.

He was grinning again.

Not in amusement.

But in respect.

And that?

That meant things were only about to get worse.

The battlefield was a mess of shattered stone and lingering shockwaves, and the orc lord stood at the center of it all, grinning like a beast that had just found a worthy hunt.

Edward groaned as he steadied himself beside me.

His body was still wrecked from the orc lord’s last attack, but his spirit?

Unbreakable.

I clenched my fists, my mind racing.

We had thrown everything at him, and yet... he hadn’t even broken a sweat.

His barrier was invincible, his strength was overwhelming, and worst of all?

He was learning.

I exhaled sharply.

"I have an idea."

Edward shot me a look, still breathing heavily.

"Oh, I can already tell I’m not gonna like this."

I ignored the comment, and continued.

"I’m going to use the fuel to strike the ground," I said, tightening my grip. "If I hit hard enough, I can destabilize the terrain beneath him, force him off balance."

Edward didn’t even hesitate.

"That won’t work." His voice was firm, but there was an edge of exhaustion in it. "Amber, that thing is beyond anything we’ve fought before. It took my punch head-on and didn’t even flinch. What makes you think knocking the ground loose will do anything?"

I turned to him, my eyes locked onto his.

"Because I’m not aiming for him. I’m aiming for the foundation he’s standing on."

Edward ran a hand through his hair, clearly trying to process my plan.

"Even if that works, using the energy fuel like that means your suit won’t reinforce you greatly anymore. Your strength, your abilities, everything it enhances will not be very strong, although the suit doesn’t rely solely on fuel so much for making you and your abilites stronger, but you will need it because the suit only reinforce slowly not fast like with fuel."

I smiled.

"Who said my strength comes from the suit?"

His brows furrowed.

"Amber—"

"The suit never made me strong, Edward," I interrupted, my voice unwavering. "I’ve been the one pushing my limits, not the enhancements... I am the one enhancing the suit, not it enhancing me."

Silence stretched between us.

Then, Edward exhaled sharply, shaking his head with a tired chuckle.

"You’re insane."

I grinned.

"And?"

"...And I guess that’s why this might actually work."

I turned back toward the orc lord, feeling the raw energy build in my core.

The ground beneath my feet was about to be obliterated.

And the hunt?

It was about to change.

I could feel the hum of energy pulsing beneath my fingertips, the suit’s energy fuel syncing with my own, an electrified storm waiting to be unleashed.

The air around me crackled, distorting as the power surged, coiling like a beast ready to be set free.

The orc lord stood ahead, unmoving, towering, confident.

His hulking frame exuded an overwhelming sense of dominance, his eyes glinting with amusement, no, mockery.

He thought he was untouchable.

He was about to learn otherwise.

I shifted my stance, planting my feet firmly into the shattered earth.

The power reserve in my suit flared, merging seamlessly with my own raw energy, fusing into something far more potent than either force alone.

My hands trembled, not from fear, but from the sheer magnitude of what I was about to unleash.

Edward’s voice cut through the tension, sharp and wary.

"Amber... this is going to level the whole place."

I didn’t take my eyes off the target.

"That’s the point."

His breath hitched, but he didn’t argue.

He knew better.

This wasn’t the highest I could go, but...

I would make it hurt the orc lord.

If I go pass that, it won’t be good to the surroundings, I would try limiting it a bit.

The orc lord finally moved, tilting his head slightly, his amused grin widening as if entertained by my defiance.

He still didn’t take me seriously.

I gritted my teeth.

That would change.

I raised both hands, channeling the energy, feeling it build, expand, surge, until it was on the very brink of detonation.

The ground beneath me quivered, struggling to withstand the pressure of what I was about to do.

Then, with a sharp exhale, I slammed my hands forward.
