Too many eyes were watching. Scarlet couldn’t help feeling extremely exposed. There was no difference between the humans and the deities at this point. While the deities had received their fair share of entertainment from her life, the humans had not and it seemed they wanted it.

While she could stand the interest of the deities because it was unavoidable, the humans were different, she could avoid them.

So, like a coward, she turned around and took off running, heading into the castle. She was wrong in thinking that she would avoid the gossip because Esong didn’t pause his steps. He picked up speed and run after her rapidly, catching up to her in a few steps.

And then, to the pleasure of all the gossip enthusiasts in the family, swept her off of her feet, carried her in his arms and raced into the castle.

They didn’t miss the reaction from different family members because it was explosive. Loud shouts came from behind them, catcalls, whistling and all manner of celebration as if something great had been achieved.

"Winter has come to an end." Elroy declared.

He shouted this into a megaphone that he had stolen from Scarlet’s office.

More than a few men deepened their voices and responded with more loud celebratory noise.

"We should toast to this great news." he suggested.

Elroy was always ready to have a good time. You could run out of everything when you were with him but never alcohol. He had every type of alcohol available on the Sunstar and other planets they had access to. Half of his storage bracelet was alcoholic beverages. He wasn’t a drunkard, he just liked to be prepared to party.

He distributed beers around, bottled, canned, in glass of different forms, in plastic and he didn’t stop until almost everyone had a drink in hand. The little children who were outside received fruit juice, milk, yoghurt and other non alcoholic drinks.

Even Dorian partook in the drinking and joined the men. The long winter was over indeed and his daughter could finally return to her old self fully.

Horse racing was abandoned and Elroy set up an outdoor screen with Beord’s help.

"Who wants to watch a movie?" Elroy asked loudly.

More than a few hands went up. Beer, snacks, and a movie in such large company, what was not to love?

"Play Dragan’s..." Ian started to shout.

"No." Many voices shouted at once.

Cedric put an arm around Ian and they consoled each other. Why did people hate the movie which was action perfection?

Meanwhile, Scarlet literally felt as if she would die from the embarrassment of what had just taken place and kept going because the guards and servants in the castle we openly smiling and laughing at them.

"Put me down." she slapped Esong’s chest lightly.

"Are you sure bedazzling one?" he responded.

She looked up, red eyes and a smirk on the face. Nyx had come out to play.

"Put me down, this is very embarrassing." She insisted.

"As you wish my beloved." he answered.

He put her down and she made a mad dash for her private kitchen, not that she could avoid him because he still followed her.

He stood in the entrance of the kitchen and watched her. "I am going to sleep tonight beloved, you can’t hide from me. I will hug you until you suffocate tonight.’ he told her loudly.

Two servant girls passed by and giggled.

Scarlet walked up to him and pulled him into the kitchen. She closed the door and told him, "I am going to cook, so unless you are here to help, keep your unruly hands to yourself Nyx. My mother and sisters will be here soon, they will have a lot of questions. A wise man would run for his life while he still has the chance."

He smiled picked up a knife and wiggled his eyebrows. "I am willing to take my chances with them."

"No." she said. She waved her hand and snatched the knife from him. "Go and spend time with the girls. Tonight, you can hug me and we can talk..."

"I don’t wanna talk." he jumped in and said.

She hissed at him and he shrugged. "Bedazzling one, i will need some good memories and warmth before my long sleep."

She sensed the arrival of her mother, Fey, Halley and even Justin. Her mother had brought help in the form of servants. She even brought Mina and Jelly as well.

She didn’t want them discussing this matter in front of them. "Fine, fine, whatever you want we can discuss later.

She pushed him out of the kitchen hastily, and he almost bumped into Mega.

He stood calmly and gave his greetings. "Hello, mother-in-law, and everyone." He and Justin bumped their fists together, saying so much without saying anything at all.

After they responded, he walked off with a bounce in his step. The women watched him disappear and they wondered what had made him so happy. However curious Mega was, she couldn’t ask her daughter in front of the others so she kept her curiosity to herself.

"Where do you need us?" She asked Scarlet.

Justin was already finding his spot, right beside her.

"Chopping vegetables, lots of vegetables." Scarlet answered.

She distributed various assignments to everyone and then went on with her task of preparing a meal for the guests. Her mind was torn between excitement for what would happen if she let it and her resolution to make him wait. She sighed as she chopped up the sausages. The big bonfire that night replaced the plans for a bachelorette party which Fey had planned for Carolyn. Not that Carolyn minded because she was sure that whatever Fey had planned would be boring.

The seafood gumbo which was new to everyone was a big hit with the emperor helping himself to three servings. Around mostly family, he behaved so freely, having fun like everyone else.

They played silly games like Pictionary and pin the tail on the donkey’s ass while eating. After the games, to the dissatisfaction of many people, they watched Dragan’s combat and when the movie was done, someone suggested karaoke.

That is why Scarlet had erected a sound barrier around herself as she watched Elroy mutilate a perfectly good song.

She was not alone in the horror of the moment. Nyx too, was horrified. He had never heard someone sing as terribly as Elroy. He didn’t just sing off key but he didn’t know where the key was.

"Your brother is the worst singer i have ever seen in my existence and i have existed for a very long time. How the hell is too pitchy and too low but too deep at the same time. I am so confused right now?"

Everyone around them looked like they were being punished with sour looks on their faces.

"Enough!" Carolyn yelled. "I am going to bed." she declared.

She walked off in a huff unable to take it anymore.

"Me too." Scarlet announced loudly. "Goodnight everyone."

Nyx or Esong as everyone saw him took to his feet as well. He stretched his arms and legs. He didn’t bother saying goodnight. He just released his wings and carried his surprised wife off.
