Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future-Chapter 64: Seeing sunlight again
Chapter 64: Seeing sunlight again
’It should be happening right about..... now!’
As he thought so, the Shadow wolf immediately halted it’s charge with a confused and concerned look on it’s huge face. A sharp pang of pain had suddenly assaulted it’s back where Lumen had struck deep with his spear less than a minute prior.
The wolf felt like it was suddenly submerged in acid as suddenly it’s whole body started twitching and jolting like crazy as it tried and failed to deal with the increasing pain coming from it’s back.
Suddenly, as if it was doused in gasoline, the huge wolf suddenly became ablaze with it’s whole pitch black body being surrounded by the burning flames left from Lumen.
’It worked! I can’t believe my idea worked!’
Lumen revelled in his success as his risky and quite frankly unreliable plan had actually worked in his favour.
Back when he had used his shadow blink to arrive on top of the wolf’s back, his plan wasn’t just to drive his spear as deep and as long as he could into the huge monster’s spine.
He had discovered a new and interesting fact about his usage of his spear.
During one of his many times of boredom when he was in a drought of finding wolves to hunt, he was fiddling with his spear when he discovered that wielding it felt like he was holding an extension of his body.
Surprised and curious about this phenomenon, he started a few experiments and that led him to the situation at hand, where he stood atop the Shadow wolf, spear embedded in its back.
The moment he drove his spear in, he used a skill he was all too used to, Fire Bolt.
However instead of it conjuring above his hand just like it always did, it formed at the tip of his spear. freewёbnoνel.com
Using his manipulation of his mana that he had been honing constantly, he held off the explosion of the spell and kept his control of it while the Wolf struggled and fought to throw him off it’s back.
It was only after 30 seconds that he activated the explosion, which surprisingly didn’t cause a huge scene like it always did, instead it set the wolf ablaze, consuming and rampaging through its body from inside out.
Lumen stood at a distance and watched as the wolf slowly succumbed to the injuries that continued growing from the flames.
Unable to put them out, all the wolf could do was throw it’s body around as it writhed in agony, until the moment finally came when it stopped. No more breaths came into it’s severely burned lungs, no more blood was pumped from the heart. It was dead.
The moment the wolf died, Lumen received a multitude of notifications, while he simply just ignored them and walked closer to the charred corpse of the wolf and kept his gaze trained on it for a few moments before he sighed.
’So this is what an E tier beast is like huh, honestly I expected more but maybe the problem isn’t the strength of the beast, but that I am too strong compared to others at my level?’
His contemplation ended when a countdown started in front of his gaze, informing him of the impending shutdown of the dungeon, with only a minute remaining before he was returned to the long awaited tutorial.
Not dilly dallying around, Lumen simply stored what was left of the wolf away and stood in place, waiting for the tutorial to send him back to the surface, where he could finally see some sunlight again.
As the countdown reached zero, his vision went black as he felt as if he was floating for just a moment before light returned to his eyes.
And after a month of toil and struggle within the dungeon, he returned back to the now unfamiliar forest of the tutorial.
’Finally back! It’s been too long since I’ve seen this green forest.’
Now back in the tutorial, his first order of business was to inspect the notifications he had received from the system the moment he killed the boss of the dungeon, the Shadow wolf.
[Ding! Killed level 28 E tier Shadow Wolf.]

Received +5 Intelligence, +5 Wisdom, +5 Agility, +5 Strength, +5 Endurance, +4 Perception, +3 Willpower +6 Unallocated stats.]
All at once he received 5 levels, taking him directly to level 25, which came as a very pleasant surprise to Lumen. He hadn’t expected to reach level 25 while he was in the dungeon and his excitement and anticipation could only increase when he remembered that level 25 was the requirement one would reach before they could go up a soul tier to E from F.
This led him onto the other notifications he had received.
[You reached level 25, the opportunity to upgrade your soul tier to E is upon you!]
[Quest received: Evolution to E tier
Quest description: You are on the precipice of a new evolution after reaching level 25 and are just a few steps away from achieving this goal many fail to reach. You have become accustomed to the new world order in body, soul and mind. Evolution is a natural step for all beings in the universe, now it is your turn to receive nature’s blessings.
Quest requirements: Slay an E tier beast, slay 100 F tier beasts, reach level 25.]
[Quest requirements met, do you wish to begin evolution to E tier now?]
Lumen read through the messages regarding his evolution to the E tier and quenched his thirst for power and his excitement at being given the opportunity as he read the last message.
’Since the system is actually giving my a security prompt for the evolution, surely there is more to it than meets the eye, right?’
His guess was correct as he willed for the selection screen to appear before his eyes.
[WARNING! Evolution brings about a new level of life, however it is not for the weak. You will experience Unimaginable pain during the evolution as both your body and soul will be deconstructed to the smallest, minute details and reconstructed. Once undertaken, any effects of the evolution cannot be reversed. Make your decision wisely.]
His suspicions were cleared when he read the warning prompt, and although it brought his emotions down to reality and kept in check, it didn’t affect his goal to strive for improvement.
Hence, his choice was obvious.
