Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future-Chapter 67: Revenge
Chapter 67: Revenge
When he spotted the Crystalline Stag, Lumen immediately entered attack mode as he closed in on the beast instantly with his superior speed and agility.
With his spear already in hand, his hands gripped the handle as he channelled his mana into it, activating his Mana Reinforcement skill. The spear was now thoroughly soaked in the blue hue as his full attention was then placed on the deer lying leisurely ahead of him in the same clearing he had fallen into the dungeon.
Shaking his head as he muttered a few incomprehensible words, he darted towards the beast from above, jumping down on the beast from a height of 10 metres from a branch above it.
The fight, or slaughter rather, lasted only a few seconds as the beast was unable to put up any struggle against the sudden onslaught of Lumen’s attack from above.
The beast was pretty much dead instantly, with what little amount of health it had being snuffed out in no time with one stab clean through the heart.
"Serves you right."
He didn’t utter anymore words as he stored the beast away in his inventory. Although he had just obtained one of the targets of his revenge, he strangely felt empty inside, as if something was missing from him.
Perhaps it was the thrill of the fight, perhaps the revenge on the deer meant less to him than he thought.
He couldn’t pinpoint the answer as he received the experience from the kill, not even adding another 1% to his experience bar with the disparity in levels being too high for any substantial amount to be earned.
The poor beast didn’t even know what would happen to it before it was suddenly pinned to the ground and stabbed in its heart in a moment’s notice. And now, after it’s death it had barely even amounted to any worth to it’s killer other than to satisfy a simple revenge.
Sitting down for a moment, he relaxed his arms and put away his spear and continued to think over his plans.
’My revenge has been achieved, yet I felt nothing from killing it... Maybe my real revenge will be achieved when I find and kill that bastard Michael. Maybe I should refocus my attention on tracking him down and finishing him once and for all. Hmmm, no. He isn’t worth sacrificing the remainder of the tutorial for, I’ll deal with him when the time comes to it. He better pray we never cross paths again.’
Getting up, he exited his thoughts of contemplation as he saw more beasts up ahead in the direction he planned on heading. Taking up his spear once more, he performed a few stretches to loosen up his joints and muscles before he continued onwards in their direction.
’Let the hunt begin!’
—
5 days later, on the periphery of a mountain.
A group of big cat-like beasts, resembling panthers in nearly every way other than the fact that they had 3 tails, were laying under the shade of a short tree, covering their delicate skin from the intense heat radiating from the sun.
Their peace and relaxation was suddenly interrupted by the sound of footsteps though as their ears perked up and their heads turned towards the direction of the sound.
A few dozen metres away from them, behind a few bushes lay a hunter, stalking his prey.
The prey happened to be the group of panthers, and once they learned his intentions and their position of prey in his eyes, their aggression reached their max as they jumped up and started slowly inching towards the hunter’s position.
Their sharp teeth dripped with saliva as the prospect of a fresh meal enticed them even further into pursuing this newcomer.
Ahead, the hunter maintained a constant distance between himself and the pride of 7 panthers until the deciding moment where he completely baffled the panthers by disappearing completely from the spot he was standing at, and reappearing behind them in the shade of the tree they had previously been lying under.
The hunter no longer maintained his shadowy image under the intense light of the sun as he didn’t let the panthers regain their confidence and focus and flew forward, avoiding their panicked assault.
The moment he landed, he turned to the nearest panther and pulled out a spear from nothing, with not a moment passing before he launched a fiery blue spear from the spear that now lay in his hands, hitting the nearest panther.
The pride of panthers had no time to react before their companion dropped to the ground, lifeless and charred from the attack.
The panthers were relentless after the hunter took down one of their own so quickly, with the bunch of them ignoring the wails and death throes of their companion as they leaped over it’s body towards the hunter in pursuit of this ruthless attacker.
Lumen observed the remaining six panthers as they continued chasing him relentlessly for the next 10 minutes. Unlike the time he landed a surprise attack on the first beast, the others were smart and powerful, not letting him achieve something like that again as they continued their pursuit and launched attack after attack in their attempt to kill him.
The fight was rather long as it finally ended after he managed to pick off three panthers one by one until he was down to the last three.
The moment himself and the three chasing panthers reached a relatively flat clearing, Lumen stopped in his tracks and turned to the three beasts behind him, who also stopped their charge the moment they noticed Lumen had.
Before they could even land any attack of their own on him, they were halted in their tracks from a sudden rumbling from the ground beneath them.
’Warpath Spear!’
For the first time since obtaining it, he activated this new technique which immediately displayed it’s effects on the three panthers, causing them to stumble and fall to the ground on their sides.
Unable to maintain their balance, they were defenceless and Lumen took full advantage of this, coming in close to each of them with his Fire infused spear and delivering a devastating blow to each of them, ending their struggle.
