Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 843: Xiang Yu Risks His Life to Save His Brothers
Chapter 843: Chapter 843: Xiang Yu Risks His Life to Save His Brothers
Xiang Yu knew that all of this was just an illusion. He forced himself to stand up, shook his head, and said, "Captain, I failed to protect you all, but I swear I will protect my brothers now. You are already gone."
Blocking out the thoughts in his mind, the chaotic scene before Xiang Yu reappeared. The tranquil image of birds singing and flowers blooming vanished completely with his shifting thoughts.
He forced himself to stand and walked into the fourth hall. Inside, the place was filled with smoke, and parts of the ceiling had already collapsed.
Xiang Yu moved through each location systematically, finally reaching the best spot in the center, where Tie Zhuzi was lying on the ground.
Beside Tie Zhuzi was the old man, both of them frozen in position, gripping the hand of the same young woman.
Summoning his strength, Xiang Yu moved toward them, grabbing them both by the arms and dragging them toward the exit.
By now, Xiang Yu had almost no strength left, his breathing labored. If he were to fall now, he might never rise again.
He had once sworn never to let his close brothers die before him.
Tie Zhuzi had been by his side for so long that Xiang Yu already regarded him as a true brother. His feelings for Tie Zhuzi were no lighter than those for the comrades he had fought alongside in the past.
As for the old man, he held great significance in Xiang Yu’s life. Like a mentor, he had guided and enlightened him.
Moreover, Xiang Yu had always felt that this man was no ordinary figure—in the past, he must have been a legend in his own right.
"Argh..." Gritting his teeth, Xiang Yu finally managed to drag both of them to the doorway. But as he reached the threshold, he could no longer hold on and collapsed onto the ground.
His vision began to blur, and just as he was about to lose consciousness, he faintly heard loud shouting from outside.
"Hurry! Get inside and rescue them!"
Recognizing the voices of the approaching rescue team, Xiang Yu let himself go completely, collapsing fully. As he lay down, he felt a softness underneath him—it seemed he had fallen onto Tie Zhuzi.
When Xiang Yu regained consciousness, he found himself back in the hospital he was all too familiar with. He hadn’t expected that after being discharged not long ago, he would end up here again.
The first person he saw upon opening his eyes was Tie Zhuzi, whose eyes were reddened. Upon seeing Xiang Yu awaken, Tie Zhuzi immediately shouted, "Liu Yuhang! Hurry, Brother Yu is awake!"
Hearing Tie Zhuzi’s shout, everyone outside rushed in hastily. Liu Yuhang gave Xiang Yu a thorough check-up and sighed in relief only after confirming he was alright.
Struggling to sit up, Xiang Yu was quickly supported by Long Wu, who said, "You just woke up, don’t move around recklessly."
"Where’s the old man?" Xiang Yu asked Liu Yuhang with concern written all over his face.
The room fell silent as no one spoke. They didn’t know who this old man was, but it was clear he was important to Xiang Yu.
"Brother Yu, I’m sorry. He’s gone," Tie Zhuzi said, his voice heavy with guilt.
At that moment, Tie Zhuzi felt deeply ashamed, as he had been the one to bring the old man there, never expecting such an incident to occur. Yet, he was thankful that it hadn’t been Xiang Yu in his place.
Xiang Yu sat there quietly before lying back down on the bed.
"Leave me; I need some time alone," he said, closing his eyes.
Understanding his mood, the others left the room one by one.
Once everyone had left, Tie Zhuzi pulled out a jade pendant hanging around his neck and said, "Right before the explosion, he asked me to give this to you. He said that if you ever meet someone else holding an identical pendant, please treat them kindly."
Placing the pendant in Xiang Yu’s hand, Tie Zhuzi stood and walked out of the room.
Holding the pendant up to his eyes, Xiang Yu examined it carefully. It was an exquisite jade carving of a Buddha, but within the jade, there was a tiny red sphere—a vibrant, blood-red color, its nature impossible to discern.
"I’ll find him," Xiang Yu swore silently, putting the pendant around his neck.
Though his time with the old man had been brief, Xiang Yu had learned a lot from him. The old man had helped him resolve the knots in his heart, becoming both teacher and friend.
But he hadn’t expected such a tragedy to strike so soon after their acquaintance.
On television, news channels were broadcasting reports about the incident. Police had cordoned off the site and were investigating the cause of the explosion.
Xiang Yu had no interest in the news. He had already concluded, upon entering the scene, that the explosion was no accident.
It was a deliberate act, and no matter who was responsible, Xiang Yu was determined to find them.
Xiang Yu’s injuries weren’t severe; his fatigue stemmed from over-exertion and inhaling sulfur dioxide and similar substances. With a bit of rest, he would recover.
"Brother, you called me," Wang Ze said, arriving promptly after Xiang Yu’s call.
Xiang Yu hadn’t sought Wang Ze for a long time. But seeing the sharpness in Xiang Yu’s eyes now, Wang Ze felt as though the old Xiang Yu had returned.
"Investigate the cause of the explosion and find the culprit," Xiang Yu said simply.
Wang Ze hesitated, then replied, "The police have already concluded their investigation; they say it was an accident."
"That’s nonsense. Look into the theater owner’s background, find out who holds a grudge against him, and trace the source of the explosives," Xiang Yu said coldly.
Recognizing Xiang Yu’s rising anger, Wang Ze nodded and left immediately.
Tie Zhuzi, weighed down with guilt, sat silently, feeling as though he had killed the old man himself.
"Brother, I’m sorry," Tie Zhuzi said, gazing at Xiang Yu with remorse.
"Zhuzi, this isn’t your fault. Don’t blame yourself. Come on, bring Xiaoxuan with us for a walk outside," Xiang Yu said, standing up and heading out.
Though deeply saddened by the old man’s death, Xiang Yu buried his emotions, holding them silently within.
He had once believed he could leave the turbulent world behind, retreating to a quiet place where no one knew him.
But no place was ever truly at peace.
The old man was a hermit, yet even he had met with unexpected violence.
The three of them arrived at Sun Bo’s office, where Sun Bo and Su Yongzhen were in the middle of an intense discussion. Seeing Xiang Yu enter, both of them lit up with excitement.
"Brother Yu, you’re finally here," Sun Bo exclaimed joyfully.
He had tried to reach out to Xiang Yu several times, only to be turned away by Xiaoxuan.
Su Yongzhen, noticing how well Xiang Yu looked, couldn’t hide his own happiness and said, "Brother Yu, you’ve been so low-profile lately."
"Is there trouble?" Xiang Yu asked, glancing at the two of them.
Sun Bo nodded quickly. "Wang Hongbin wants to challenge us to a race. He’s already informed all the major media outlets."
"Let them come. Do they think we’re afraid of them?" Tie Zhuzi said fiercely. "You’re worried about losing, aren’t you? Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. We won’t lose."
Xiaoxuan, seeing Tie Zhuzi bragging again, quickly pulled him aside, signaling him to quiet down.
Ignoring Tie Zhuzi, Su Bo turned to Xiang Yu and said, "Lately, Wang Hongbin’s been very active. He’s already taken over most of the market in City No. 5, and he’s recruited all the prominent racers there under his flag."
"If he races here, it’s bound to attract a huge crowd. Things could get chaotic, and accidents are inevitable. I’m worried about the safety of our drivers," Su Bo said, his concern evident.
