Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 858: Threat from a Reporter
Chapter 858: Chapter 858: Threat from a Reporter
The happiest person now was Wang Li. He had originally stood there with an indifferent attitude. But when there was no explosion at the site, and Wang Hongbin started to rage uncontrollably, he felt his opportunity had arrived again.
"Boss, I’ve always said it—this punk is completely unreliable. You can’t trust him," Wang Li said, standing beside Wang Hongbin.
Wang Hongbin was already in a foul mood, and now this idiot came over to rub salt in the wound—clearly mocking him.
Without saying a word, he landed a kick on Wang Li as well, knocking him down.
Meanwhile, Tie Zhuzi stood on one side of the racetrack, shaking his head regretfully. He had intended for the fire truck to ram into those two punks, but the timing wasn’t right. Still, the current outcome wasn’t bad.
At least the scene was spectacular—two race cars and a fire truck exploding was enough to excite anyone.
Standing further away, Su Yongzhen was stunned. He still hadn’t figured out what had just happened.
But one thing was certain: his teammates had been saved, while the two opponents were likely nothing but dust now.
After a minute of silence, the crowd erupted. There were cheers and screams from every direction.
Xiang Yu quickly contacted the security personnel on site, instructing them to start evacuating the crowd and avoid unnecessary casualties.
As people began to leave, opinions were mixed—some called it a thrilling show, while others cursed, saying this wasn’t a race but sheer recklessness.
The evacuation proceeded quickly, and in less than ten minutes, most of the crowd had dispersed. Remaining were those with strong curiosity, eager to see how things would play out.
These were eventually chased away by the security team as well. The scene was left with only a large group of reporters, who were the biggest headache. Their professionalism was remarkable; even in danger, they refused to leave.
Ultimately, they were forced out by security guards. One particularly persistent reporter somehow slipped past them and made it to Sun Bo’s seating area.
Sun Bo was standing there, deep in thought about the next steps. Then, the reporter approached with a bright smile and said, "Mr. Sun, I have a few words I’d like to discuss with you."
At that moment, two security guards chased after the reporter, ready to drag him away.
Sun Bo, uncertain of the reporter’s intentions, stopped the guards and asked the reporter, "What do you want to say?"
The reporter grinned slyly, stepped closer, and said, "Mr. Sun, you know the value of my video footage is quite significant. If it’s exposed on television, I’m sure it’ll impact your company immensely, won’t it?"
Sun Bo, being a clever man, immediately realized the reporter intended to blackmail him.
"How much?" Sun Bo asked calmly.
"Let’s make it simple. Everyone knows Mr. Sun is the city’s wealthiest individual. A few million shouldn’t count as much for you, right?" The reporter said smugly.
For them, this was a golden opportunity—especially targeting a general manager of a massive corporation, whose public reputation mattered most.
"I don’t have a few million. Will a few bucks suffice?" Sun Bo replied impatiently.
The reporter froze, unable to understand what he meant. Just as he was about to clarify, Sun Bo gestured to the security guards.
The two security guards caught on immediately, stepped forward, snatched the reporter’s electronic equipment, and smashed it mercilessly on the ground—including his mobile phone, which was shattered into pieces.
The reporter had never encountered such brazen behavior before. His usual tactic was foolproof: present evidence to threaten powerful executives, and they’d pay hush money.
But Sun Bo seemed different from the rest.
"What’s the meaning of this? I’m a reporter! Offend me, and I’ll expose all your shady dealings!" The reporter fumed angrily.
Although they weren’t corporate titans, reporters—with their "crownless king" status—were rarely challenged. Their arrogance stemmed from that privilege.
Sun Bo ignored him and waved to someone nearby.
The reporter, unsure of what Sun Bo was plotting, stomped his feet and yelled, "Give me back my DV camera! Give me back my phone!"
Before he could finish his sentence, two security guards dragged him aside and, without hesitation, began beating him viciously.
The reporter was soft-skinned and pampered; he couldn’t endure such brutality and quickly started pleading for help.
Sun Bo paid no attention to him and walked directly into Xiang Yu’s office.
"Brother Yu, what do we do now?" Sun Bo asked as he approached.
Xiang Yu responded casually, "Handle it as an accident. We’ll claim the fire truck lost control, causing the tragedy."
Xiang Yu was confident Sun Bo would fix things; after all, as the general manager of Yuran Group, his influence in the city was substantial.
Fang Rong stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do. She glanced at Xiang Yu, then at the people around her, and said, "Xiang Yu, let’s just leave this place, okay?"
To Fang Rong, this location was only a temporary rental for Xiang Yu’s group. Since the race had ended, there was no reason to stay.
"You stay here. I’ll go handle something. Sun Bo, look after her," Xiang Yu said before heading out.
Fang Rong became uneasy. She nervously grabbed Xiang Yu’s arm and said, "What are you going to do? I’ll go with you."
Xiang Yu shook his head with a smile and said, "I’m going to bring Su Yongzhen over for you."
"Really? Don’t lie to me," Fang Rong perked up at the mention of Su Yongzhen. But after a brief reflection, her expression darkened again.
To her, Xiang Yu was just a small-time thug—a rogue street king, an opportunistic miscreant.
Back in her university days, she didn’t understand why she was so enamored with Xiang Yu. But as she matured, she realized how foolish her younger self had been.
Now, though she found Xiang Yu easy to chat with, she no longer liked him.
In her heart, Su Yongzhen was the ideal man—a star in the sky. Xiang Yu bringing him here seemed impossible. After all, Su Yongzhen was noble and refined; why would he associate with someone like Xiang Yu? They weren’t even on the same level.
"You’re lying, aren’t you? Trying to sneak away." Fang Rong, as if seeing through Xiang Yu’s trick, said.
Xiang Yu responded with a helpless smile and said, "Just wait here. Su Yongzhen will be here soon."
After that, Xiang Yu didn’t say another word and headed straight outside.
Watching Xiang Yu leave, Fang Rong made a face and said, "You and your terrible habit of exaggerating! I don’t believe a single word. You’re probably just afraid I’ll ask you to treat me to dinner, so you’re trying to run away..."
