Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 890: This Is Just a Farce
Chapter 890: Chapter 890: This Is Just a Farce
When they saw the bomb Gao Zhitao had dismantled, everyone believed him. Especially Bureau Chief Huang—he was the first to step forward, then looked at Gao Zhitao and said, "Director Gao, you’ve worked hard. Leave the rest to me."
Bureau Chief Huang hadn’t contributed at all to this case. Feeling that his reputation was being overshadowed, he immediately took over the task. He couldn’t let Gao Zhitao take all the credit.
Kong Shenghui quickly chimed in, "That’s right. You’ve been working all night. Go and get some rest."
Gao Zhitao initially wanted to refuse, but Kong Shenghui raised his hand, signaling for two men to approach. They grabbed Gao Zhitao and began leading him outside.
"No way! There’s one more bomb. I need to find it and dismantle it!" Gao Zhitao shouted.
In truth, he was worried about Xiang Yu being inside. If he wasn’t there to explain, the police might mistake Xiang Yu for a terrorist and arrest him.
Seeing Gao Zhitao being led away, Bureau Chief Huang stepped in front of Kong Shenghui and said, "Deputy Director Kong, leave this to me. I promise not to miss any dangerous items."
Kong Shenghui nodded in agreement. With hundreds of police officers searching for bombs, it seemed unlikely anything would be overlooked.
Having no choice, Gao Zhitao reluctantly stayed in the distance. He wanted to call Xiang Yu to inform him about the situation outside, but then realized he hadn’t saved Xiang Yu’s phone number.
While Gao Zhitao was pacing with worry, commotion broke out ahead of him. Over a dozen police officers emerged, guns drawn, encircling someone as they walked out.
Bureau Chief Huang, visibly excited, rushed to Kong Shenghui and said, "Director Kong, we’ve caught the criminal. This is the terrorist who planted the bombs."
Standing there calmly, without a trace of fear on his face, was Xiang Yu. His expression was indifferent as he surveyed the officers around him.
As he stood lost in thought, more officers surrounded him.
Kong Shenghui hadn’t expected it would be resolved so smoothly. He walked up to Xiang Yu, scanning him up and down, and asked, "Are you the mastermind behind this terrorist attack?"
"No. I’m here to dismantle the bombs," Xiang Yu replied calmly.
"Dismantle bombs? Kid, stop acting now. There’s no escaping today," Bureau Chief Huang said excitedly.
This "terrorist" had been caught under his leadership, so naturally, the credit was his.
"There’s still one more bomb inside. You’d better find it quickly, or it’ll be dangerous," Xiang Yu said seriously.
Ren Baohe had mentioned noon as the deadline, but who knew if he was telling the truth? It might even detonate earlier.
"Where’s the other bomb? Speak!" Bureau Chief Huang pushed through the officers, stepping directly in front of Xiang Yu, as if ready to resort to violence.
Xiang Yu found the man laughable and ignored him. This guy was clearly trying to show off in front of Kong Shenghui.
"Put down your guns! He’s my informant," Gao Zhitao yelled, rushing forward when he saw Xiang Yu being arrested.
"Zhitao, don’t make a scene," Kong Shenghui snapped, looking sternly at Gao Zhitao.
Normally, Gao Zhitao was respectful toward Kong Shenghui, but now his own expression turned strict as he said, "Uncle Kong, I told you he’s my informant. No one is allowed to touch him."
"Director Gao, this man is highly suspicious. You should step aside," Bureau Chief Huang said opportunistically.
He even suspected that Gao Zhitao had orchestrated the entire affair to gain recognition and glory.
Once this idea took root in Bureau Chief Huang’s mind, it rapidly solidified as certainty.
The whole incident seemed like it was orchestrated by Gao Zhitao—from the phone call summoning everyone, to the dismantled bombs already neatly handled by the time the police arrived.
Gao Zhitao wasn’t a bomb disposal expert, so how could he possess such skills? Clearly, he must be up to something.
Even though Bureau Chief Huang had made these deductions, he wouldn’t expose it publicly. After all, the situation had grown too large, and it now presented a valuable opportunity—an opportunity for him to take credit.
"Director Huang, what are you implying? I’ve already said he’s my informant. It was him who discovered the bombs and informed me—otherwise, the situation here would’ve been far more dangerous," Gao Zhitao explained.
"Stop arguing and gather your team at the back," Kong Shenghui said sharply, irritated by Gao Zhitao’s insistence.
Gao Zhitao shot a cold look at Bureau Chief Huang before pulling Xiang Yu away toward the rear.
For Bureau Chief Huang to have reached his current position, he clearly wasn’t a simple man. Seeing Gao Zhitao’s disdainful expression as he left, Huang merely scoffed in return.
"Everyone, search the area thoroughly. We must locate the last bomb!" Bureau Chief Huang shouted.
In his mind, he was certain the whole affair was a play directed by Gao Zhitao. Since it was staged, he figured there wasn’t any real danger of the bomb going off.
In other words, everyone involved was acting, and Bureau Chief Huang was now the lead of this grand production—a production that could cement his achievements.
"What now? Do you think they can find the bomb?" Gao Zhitao asked Xiang Yu nervously.
"Let’s wait and see," Xiang Yu replied calmly.
He wasn’t interested in the intricate web of political power and relationships within the bureaucracy. If the police could successfully find the bomb, that would be ideal—it would save him the trouble.
Meanwhile, Bureau Chief Huang casually wandered around the site. In his opinion, the so-called bomb was nothing more than a sham, and he was content to carry on the act.
An hour passed, and all four police search groups returned, reporting that they hadn’t found the bomb.
Bureau Chief Huang feigned a serious expression and approached Kong Shenghui, saying, "We didn’t locate the bomb. I think we should focus on the suspect we caught earlier."
Kong Shenghui thought for a moment and nodded. "Bring him here."
Bureau Chief Huang smirked slightly and nodded before heading outside.
Xiang Yu, still lost in thought about the bomb, suddenly saw Bureau Chief Huang approaching with several officers.
"Please come with us," Bureau Chief Huang said, waving to his subordinates.
Eight officers immediately surrounded Xiang Yu, preparing to apprehend him.
"What are you doing? Let him go!" Gao Zhitao shouted angrily, glaring at them.
Although Gao Zhitao was the deputy chief, he had little real authority in the department. While his colleagues showed him respect on the surface, they often gossiped about him behind his back.
Now that an opportunity had arisen, they seized the chance to teach this deputy chief a lesson. Since Bureau Chief Huang had sanctioned it, none cared about repercussions.
Understanding the dynamics at play, Xiang Yu gestured to Gao Zhitao to calm down before confidently stepping forward.
Gao Zhitao followed closely behind him, visibly fuming.
Standing before Kong Shenghui, Gao Zhitao frowned and said, "Uncle Kong, what’s going on here? Are you questioning my credibility now?"
Kong Shenghui did not look at Gao Zhitao but instead fixed his hawk-like gaze on Xiang Yu and asked, "Tell me—how exactly did this incident happen?"
Remaining composed, Xiang Yu stared back at Kong Shenghui, his eyes showing no trace of fear...
