Vampire's Veil Of Obsession-Chapter 111: I Don’t Want Anymore
Chapter 111: I Don’t Want Anymore
Zethan fell silent, his body tensing. What did this little boy just say to him? He was dumbfounded. He turned to Lilia, waiting for her to say something—anything.
In fact, the way he had said he wanted to protect her from people like him hit hard.
The hall was still filled with chatter. Some people sat and talked, while others stood and mingled with their new alliances and partners.
Lilia turned to the boy who had just sat up.
"Honey, what’s your name?"
Zethan’s jaw clenched tighter. Wasn’t that the name she usually called him? Why was she using it on this little boy? That name, that tone—it was his. It belonged to him alone. He didn’t want to share it with anyone.
"My name is Tommy, Miss Beauty," the boy replied with a bright smile.
Lilia laughed softly as she ruffled his brown hair. Zethan’s frown deepened, now fully visible as he finally spoke, drawing Lilia and Tommy’s attention. It was clear the boy had captured all of hers.
"Little Tommy," Zethan said, his voice tight, barely holding back his frustration, "it’s Mrs., not Miss. She’s married." He corrected for the second time.
Lilia’s lips curved up into a smile, and the boy tilted his head, confused.
"Miss Beauty... is that true? What the big fella said—are you really married?"
Then he leaned in close, whispering into Lilia’s ear, "Why is Mr. Big Fella angry?"
Lilia giggled and replied, "This Mr. Big Fella you see here is my husband, Tommy."
The boy’s eyes widened slightly as he straightened his back, stretching out his tiny hands for a handshake.
"Hello, Mister Big Fella. I’m Mister Tommy. Nice to meet you!"
Lilia laughed again at the cuteness of his introduction. Zethan stared at the boy’s outstretched hands, then glanced at Lilia, who was now looking at him with curiosity.
Maybe this was his chance... Maybe he could prove to her that he was good with kids.
With a serious expression, he extended his hand and shook Tommy’s.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Tommy," he said, his voice stiff with effort.
Lilia burst out laughing, unable to hold it back. Zethan stared at her, then at Tommy, who had joined in the laughter.
He scratched the back of his neck, a little embarrassed. What was funny? He was trying his best here.
Lilia couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Zethan—Zethan Lyall—was actually doing this. It was unexpected... and most of all, he looked so adorably cute.
"Mrs. Beauty," Tommy said, turning back to her with bright eyes, "I want to become a swordsman! So when I grow up, I can fight for you!"
Lilia nodded with a smile, clearly touched.
Then Tommy turned to Zethan, eyes shining. "Mr. Big Fella is very handsome."
Zethan’s frown instantly melted into a smile.
"Oh really? I must say, you’re not wrong," he replied with a smirk, exchanging a warm glance with Lilia.
Their eyes locked—her smile soft and warm—and he smiled right back.
"Oh my, Tommy! There you are," a gentle voice said as a woman approached.
Lilia finally turned her gaze away, looking up at the figure.
A woman in a light blue, body-hugging gown approached, her light brown hair falling in soft waves—strikingly similar to the boy’s. Beside her was a man dressed in a suit that perfectly matched her outfit, likely her husband.
The boy turned around, his face lighting up with joy.
"Yaaaay! Mrs. Beauty, my parents are here!"
Lilia smiled, pleased, and helped him up. The boy dashed forward, wrapping his small arms tightly around his mother’s gown.
"Mummy! Daddy!" he exclaimed.
The woman bent slightly to ruffle his hair with a fond smile. Tommy beamed, then pointed back at Lilia.
"Mummy, Mrs. Beauty was very nice to me!" he said proudly, tugging on his mother’s hand, trying to pull her toward Lilia.
The father smiled warmly, while the woman’s face shifted from polite curiosity to visible surprise. Her eyes widened as they landed on the man standing beside Lilia.
She knew that face.
Zethan Lyall.
The shock on both her and her husband’s faces was almost comical—priceless even—as realization dawned on them.
They both walked toward them.
The lady smiled warmly.
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Lilia, and Mr. Zethan. We had been so worried," she said with genuine relief.
Lilia smiled in return.
"You don’t have to worry. Your son is absolutely adorable."
The woman chuckled, her expression softening as the little boy stood beside her, grinning from ear to ear.
The man stepped forward and respectfully extended his hand to Zethan. Zethan accepted it with a nod, maintaining his composed demeanor.
"We’ll be leaving now... Mrs. Lilia, I’ll see you tomorrow then," the woman said with a kind smile.
Lilia nodded.
"Of course."
"Bye-bye, Mrs. Beauty and Mr. Big Fella!" the little boy chirped, waving enthusiastically.
Lilia laughed as she waved back, and Zethan gave a brief nod, his usual serious expression still in place—until they walked away.
To Lilia’s surprise, the corners of Zethan’s lips slowly curved into a smile.
"Finally, he left," Zethan muttered under his breath.
Lilia’s eyes widened in mock shock.
"Oh my—you did not just say that!"
Zethan looked away slightly, his voice low.
"You weren’t giving me the usual attention you do when we’re alone..."
Lilia giggled softly, moving her body closer.
"Well, you better get used to it if you want cute little babies around, Mr. Big Fella," she added with a teasing grin.
Zethan stared at her, quiet for a moment, his eyes fixed on her glowing smile. He hadn’t realized until now how much joy a child could bring to her face... how beautiful she looked when she laughed like that.
The lights dimmed slightly in the large hallway, signaling that it was time for the dance. Soft music swelled as the piano began to play gently.
Lilia and Zethan finally stepped into the grand hall, joining the others as husbands took their wives and partners by the hand. As the music began to play, a graceful harmony filled the air, and in perfect unison, everyone started to dance to the rhythm.
Zethan placed his hands gently on her waist, and she rested hers on his shoulders. They began to dance—slow and in perfect harmony—their movements naturally syncing. Their eyes locked, and in that moment, the world around them faded. They were completely lost in each other.
Lilia’s soft voice came again, "How long are we staying here again?"
"Five days," Zethan replied.
Lilia smiled faintly. "I’m actually enjoying this place more than I expected."
Zethan leaned in slightly and asked in a low voice, "Was it because of the earlier performance?"
She nodded.
"If you’d like," he said with a soft smile, "I could hire them to perform privately—just for us. Trust me."
Lilia quickly shook her head.
"No, no, no—it’s better this way. That’s what makes the show so special. If we kept seeing it over and over like some rich snobs, it wouldn’t feel as magical as it does now." She smiled warmly.
"Hmm, rich snobs, huh? So what if I say I am?" Zethan spoke quietly.
"Ohh, then I am too, because I’m married to you," she whispered.
Zethan smiled.
"Ohh, honey, you’ve smiled so much today. I must say, I’m shocked."
They continued their dance as Zethan laughed softly.
"Oh really? Thanks to my wife, who keeps bringing it to my face."
Lilia’s heart warmed. This side of Zethan was just too much—too good, too perfect—for her to handle.
Just then, the melody shifted, rising with a soft elegance. Their steps aligned perfectly as they danced in sync, flowing with the music. He lifted her effortlessly, then let her down as their bodies swayed in harmony. He spun her again—and again—until she melted into the movement, falling gracefully into his arms.
"Wow," he murmured, "I must say... your father did a really good job teaching you this dance."
Lilia’s heart swelled—warmth and sadness mixing inside her. She was touched that he remembered something so specific, something she had only mentioned once, the very first time they met.
It was saddening because, even though she didn’t want to admit it, it was still normal to feel that small, aching void—the longing to be loved by her parents—which hurt more than she cared to show.
And then, suddenly, she heard Zethan speak.
"What’s wrong, sweetheart? Do you want to meet your parents?"
Lilia looked up at him as they quietly continued dancing. A soft silence settled between them before she finally asked,
"Zethan... is this part of your ability? Reading minds?"
Zethan paused at her words, then replied with a gentle smile,
"Nope, not exactly. But if you’re asking whether I can read your mind, Lilia... I can’t. I just know when my beautiful wife’s mood shifts."
She chuckled softly and said,
"Wow... I never knew my husband was so good at observing his wife."
Her lips curved into a smile, and Zethan responded,
"I’m also good at observing and teasing—though now, you’re even better at teasing than I am, I must say."
Lilia gave him a playful, pointed look.
"Oh honey, that’s a lie. You are the king of teasing."
Zethan spun her gently, then leaned in and spoke quietly,
"Loris...I don’t want children anymore."
