Vampire's Veil Of Obsession-Chapter 135: Black Book
Chapter 135: Black Book
"Mrs. Lilia, we have a visitor," Evie’s voice broke through the silence of the library, where Lilia had been absorbed in her reading.
Lilia’s body stiffened slightly, surprised by Evie’s words. A visitor? That was rare. In fact, the last time they’d had one was the blondie, wasn’t it? Her curiosity piqued, Lilia turned to face Evie.
"Did he or she tell you their name?" she asked, even though she knew no one. If someone were to visit, weren’t they supposed to inform her beforehand? And who would possibly visit now that Zethan was not here?
Evie nodded. "Yes, Mrs. Lilia. She said her name is Mrs. Mira."
Lilia’s eyes widened slightly. That name rang a bell—she’d heard it before, but where? "Mrs. Mira?" she murmured, a hint of recognition stirring. Her lips curved into a smile. "Did she mention anything else?"
"She did," Evie continued. "She mentioned having a child—Tommy."
A wider smile tugged at Lilia’s lips as she sat up. "Where is she now?"
"She’s in the living room," Evie replied.
Lilia nodded. "Let’s go," she said as she stood, carefully placing the book she’d been reading on the table. She could get black back to it once she was done.
The two walked down the stairs, and as they reached the living room, Lilia’s eyes widened slightly. Mira stood from her seat, a soft smile playing on her lips. Without hesitation, she ran toward Lilia and hugged her tightly. Lilia’s lips curled into a smile at the warm embrace.
Surprised by her childlike behavior, Lilia found it lovely. Her heart warmed deeply. This feeling—it was just good. She hadn’t really had a friend, let alone someone actually come to visit her.
"Welcome, Mrs. Mira," Lilia said softly.
Mira giggled, shaking her head. "Oh, please, don’t be too formal. Just call me Mira. We’re friends already."
Lilia chuckled softly at her words and nodded in agreement. Mira hugged her again, lifting her slightly off the ground. Lilia smiled at the playful gesture.
"I came to visit. Hope I didn’t come at the wrong time," Mira said worriedly.
Lilia shook her head. "Of course not," she replied. "In fact, I’m glad you’re here. It’s not every day we have a visitor. And to think—it’s Tommy’s mom... you’ve unknowingly brought a smile to my face."
Mira smiled softly. "Oh my, I’m glad I could make such beauty smile," she said dramatically and flirtatiously, causing Lilia to laugh.
Lilia’s heart warmed as she thought of Tommy. She was truly happy that Mira had arrived.
She looked around, almost expecting to see the little boy, but Mira giggled softly, noticing her gaze.
"As for little Tommy, you won’t find him right now. He went to school earlier and will be back in a few hours. I came here after my husband and I dropped him off, then my husband stopped at his company," Mira explained.
Lilia nodded in understanding.
She would be lying if she said her heart hadn’t skipped when she heard the word "husband." The first person that came to her mind was Zethan. She missed him dearly—so much that she tried her best not to overthink by spending more time in the library and keeping herself busy. But she would be lying if she said he didn’t still come to her mind. She wondered how he was doing.
Mira spoke again, her tone light and cheerful.
"If you don’t mind, I came over for a girls’ day—a ladies-only day. I wanted to take a little break, and my husband and I decided I could visit you. Tommy talks so much about you and he really wants to meet you. So I told him we’d both visit today. He’d see you, though I told him you might be busy. It all depends on your schedule—but really, it depends on you."
Lilia nodded—she was totally fine with that. In fact, she hadn’t told Tommy a proper goodbye back at the gathering because of that emergency. Now, she could meet him again—maybe spend some time with him or even go to a park with him and his mom.
She understood what Mira meant—she had told her son that in case Lilia declined or accepted, so he wouldn’t feel bad. That alone told Lilia how great of a mom Mira was, and she was happy to learn a lot from her.
"Oops, I just realized I haven’t told you how talkative I am when I’m with people I’m comfortable with," Mira whispered.
"Oh, I don’t mind. In fact, you can say whatever you want—I’m always all ears," Lilia replied with a sincere smile.
"Aww, you’re so sweet," Mira whispered, pinching Lilia’s cheeks softly as they both laughed.
Lilia smiled warmly. Mira continued, "I was thinking we could go to the spa for some self-care. What do you think?"
Lilia’s face lit up. "That sounds like a perfect idea!" she replied, her heart warming at the thought. She had been wondering what to do next after finishing her book, and surprisingly, Mira had just presented the perfect solution. A smile curved on her lips as she added, "My chauffeur can take us there, then."
Mira nodded eagerly. "Fine by me," she said softly.
"Of course," Lilia replied. She glanced down at her outfit—a simple top and baggy jeans. It was casual but perfect for an outing like this. Somehow, she had a feeling this would happen today. Though she hadn’t planned the outfit, it felt right for the occasion.
They both walked toward the car where the chauffeur was waiting. As he opened the door, they stepped inside. While Evie sat in the front, Lilia and Mira settled into the back seat.
Mira spoke quietly, her voice light. "We’ll also do a pedicure and some massages. We definitely need to take care of ourselves."
Lilia smiled and giggled softly. "Yes, we really do."
After a brief pause, Lilia added in a small whisper, "Are we..uh..w..waxing as well?"
Mira’s lips curled into a smile as she leaned closer, whispering, "I’m sure our hubbies wouldn’t like someone else seeing our coochie."
’Coochie’ the way she said it...
Lilia’s face flushed. She was glad as she hadn’t done that before, though she had been curious if it would happen. She could already imagine that annoyed look on Zethan’s face when he discovered she had—
’Oh, Lilia... don’t be shameless,’ she screamed to herself.
Almost immediately, Lilia began to think. Surprisingly, she realized she hadn’t really stepped out of the mansions since Zethan left. She hadn’t gone shopping or done anything for herself. Though she had considered it before, it seemed there were so many things she had never done. She was surprised by how much she had been missing.
"I hope I didn’t disturb you earlier," Mira said, her voice laced with worry. She feared she might have come at the wrong time.
Lilia shook her head with a soft smile. "Of course not. I was just reading a book."
Mira raised an eyebrow. "Oh, is it a story? Do I know it?"
Her smile widened as she continued, "I’m obsessed with stories. I have so many. There’s another one I’m about to start too."
Lilia turned to her with interest. "I wouldn’t mind if you gave me some recommendations."
Mira nodded enthusiastically. "Of course—why not?"
Then, Lilia hesitated before asking, "Have you read The Black Book?"
Mira’s eyes widened as she covered her mouth, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Yes, I have. That book is almost...taboo. It’s also called The Forbidden Book."
’Forbidden Book?’ Lilia wondered.
Mira then spoke, "It’s called that because it’s rumored that most of the scenes were real—about the red magic."
She chuckled. "Oh, I don’t want to spoil anything. Are you finished with it?"
"Not yet," Lilia replied. "I’m still reading it."
Mira nodded and smiled. "Then I won’t spoil it for you," she said playfully.
Lilia glanced at Mira—it was like the book alone was mysterious, and now she was getting more and more curious. Mira’s expression mirrored the one Evie had given her earlier. It appeared The Black Book was really something.
Mira spoke softly. "I would love to meet the author of that book. I’d give her a tight hug. Such a naughty, naughty author."
Lilia grinned. "That was my thought too. And we’re naughty readers as well," she said, and they both giggled softly.
Mira spoke aloud, "I really love visiting, but I don’t want to catch you off guard. I’ve already done enough today," she added with a pout.
Lilia shook her head. "No, it’s fine."
Mira smiled in return.
Lilia nodded again, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Maybe we could read both my recommendations and yours next time. By then, I’ll have read lots and lots of books," she suggested quietly.
Mira smiled brightly at the idea. "That sounds perfect."
Lilia grinned. "Even my assistant has read The Black Book."
Mira raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. "Really?"
Lilia laughed, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Yes, all of them. I heard there are three series—I’m still on series one, though," she said, a little embarrassed but amused.
Mira’s smile widened. "So, you’ve read The Women’s Book too?" she asked Evie, her tone playful.
Evie nodded professionally, still flushed. Mira nodded in return, speaking quietly, "Wow that book is quite popular...huh."
The car finally came to a slow stop in front of the spa building, and the chauffeur announced, "We’re here."
