Villain MMORPG: Almighty Devil Emperor and His Seven Demonic Wives-Chapter 1081: Scapegoat
Villain Ch 1081. Scapegoat
Allen pressed his lips together, considering their words. As much as he wanted to brush it off, he couldn't fully deny it. The descriptions in the journal—the dark laughter, the terrifying presence, the overwhelming power—fit too well with his in-game persona. His Devil Emperor character was built to be feared, a figure of dark power.
It wasn't out of the realm of possibility that this place, this cursed monastery, had some connection to him or his lore.
After a moment of silent contemplation, he finally spoke. "It could be," Allen admitted, his voice calm but thoughtful. "I mean, the journal's vague enough. It doesn't name names, and the description… Well, it's not impossible that this place is somehow connected to the Devil Emperor."
Jane's eyes lit up with excitement at the prospect of uncovering something deeper. "So, this place might be part of the beginning of the Devil Emperor's story," she mused aloud, her enthusiasm clear as she paced around the room.
"Or," Larissa added, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "this might just be another random cursed place where Allen's reputation has conveniently made him the scapegoat."
Allen shot her a flat look, but there was a small, amused smirk on his lips. "Thanks, Larissa. Always helpful." He knew it was just sarcasm.
Jane continued to theorize. "Think about it! This entire monastery was preparing for some divine ceremony, but something went horribly wrong. What if that 'something' was connected to the Devil Emperor? A summoning gone awry? Maybe they accidentally brought in a dark power instead of the gods they were trying to appease."
Alice, who had been quietly observing the room, spoke up. "It's possible. But if this place is tied to Allen's lore, the answers will probably be in the boss room." She turned to Allen. "There are only three floors in this dungeon, right? The third floor should have the boss. That's where we'll find out if this place is part of your story or not."
Allen nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Yeah, that makes sense. If there's a boss fight waiting for us, it might give us more insight into whatever dark power cursed this place. Whether it's tied to me or not, we'll figure it out."
Zoe glanced toward the darkened hallway that led to the next set of stairs. "We've cleared this floor, so we might as well move on. The boss room should be at the top."
The group made their way up the staircase to the third floor. When they arrived, they were met with a sight that was vastly different from what they had seen before. The third floor wasn't enclosed like the previous levels; it was an open rooftop, scattered with ancient ruins and broken pillars. Some parts of the structure had collapsed, leaving gaping holes.
In some places, a large, tall pavilion stood like a stage, though it was partially destroyed.
Unlike the dense hordes of monsters below, this place was eerily quiet. There were fewer enemies, but the ones that remained were stone guardians—similar to the ones Allen had fought before. They weren't as large, only about two meters tall. Each one had missing limbs.
The group tensed immediately, their focus sharpening. This floor was not going to be an easy fight, and they all knew it. There was no room for the usual banter this time.
Once the last guardian fell, the soft melody that had haunted them from the lower floors began to play again, only this time it was much clearer. It was a hauntingly beautiful song. It had a sad, melancholic quality to it, as if the singer was pouring her loneliness into every note.
"It's a female," Bella said, her voice unusually serious as she listened to the melody. Her fox ears twitched as she tried to locate the source. "Whoever she is, she's... lonely. You can feel it in the way she sings."
Shea nodded. "Yeah. I hear it too. It's like she's been singing for ages, waiting for someone to listen. But... it's more than that.
There's something off about it, like she's trapped in her own song."
Zoe frowned. "Trapped... or cursed, maybe? The whole monastery is cursed, so it wouldn't surprise me if she's part of whatever dark magic is tied to this place."
Larissa chimed in. "I think it's more than just a curse. This feels personal. Like whoever this woman is, she wasn't just part of the ceremony. Maybe she tried to summon something to help her, but it backfired."

Bella bit her lip, her eyes scanning the ruins for any sign of movement. "Maybe she wasn't evil. Maybe she was forced into this. But now... she's stuck."
"So we are going to play heroes?" Alice raised one of her eyebrows.
"Nah." Vivian glanced around in caution. "It's hard to trust anything in a cursed place like this. She could be leading us into a trap, luring us with her voice. Just like the last spider queen."
"I don't know... this whole situation feels like we're walking into something bigger. We've already fought stone Guardians that seem to be protecting something. It's all connected, but we don't know how," Zoe analyzed.
Jane, who had been unusually quiet, finally spoke up. "Somehow... Rather than lonely, she sounds brokenhearted, like something has been taken from her or lost. I don't sense malice, but... pain. It's like she's trapped in her own sorrow."
Allen, standing at the front, listened intently to the melody. "It seems like the voice is coming from there," he said, pointing toward the far end of the rooftop where a large, partially destroyed pavilion stood, its shadow looming over the open space. The melody was louder now.
"Let's go," Zoe said, taking a step forward, her tentacles shifting protectively around her. The group moved cautiously toward the pavilion.
Once they neared the pavilion, Bella spoke again, her voice low. "You know, if she's not evil... maybe we can help her. Maybe she doesn't need to be defeated, just... released from whatever's binding her here."
