WorldCrafter - Building My Underground Kingdom-Chapter 149: Incomplete Relic
The Magus opened his palm. With a single thought, a violent shockwave erupted from him like a bomb of raw energy.
Ben sensed it a heartbeat too late. He turned sharply, planting his feet and raising his pickaxe.
BAM!
The blast struck him dead on. The force sent him flying, wind howling in his ears. But Ben twisted mid-air, angling his body toward the base.

He crashed down beside Elvira, stone cracking beneath him. His body steamed, smoke rising from his armor.
The chiting armor was split down one side,And yet, his hand never left the weapon.
He rose slowly, eyes locked forward. "Elvira, barrier. Now."
"I'm already on it!" she snapped, her voice unusually tight.
Magic circle appeared on her hand. The circle lit up like a sunburst, spreading across the structure in a lattice of glowing threads. A translucent dome of mana snapped into place over them multi-layered, reinforced, anchored by white gemstones.
The transformed Magus floated in the sky above the base, wings spread wide, flames spiraling around him. Arcs of lightning rippled across his body. Trails of shadow followed every movement.
Every step he took in the sky left a rift in the air.
With a flick of his clawed hand, a vortex of fire and lightning converged into a single strike.
BOOM! CRACK!
The shield groaned. Veins of red spread across the dome's surface like spiderweb cracks. Elvira's eyes widened. "Just with a single attack!?"
BOOM!
Another blast. This one a dark bullet engulfed with flame. It struck like a meteor.
CRAAACK!
The dome flared violently, one of the outer layers shattering completely.
Elvira's expression turned grim. "We will run out of mana soon, if we keep going like this."
Ben wiped blood from his mouth, standing straight as his armor completely recovered.
"Then we better make a plan."
But The Magus didn't give them a change, he thrust his hand forward. Flame surged, lightning crackled, and shadow warped. All three twisted into a single beam , tearing through the air like a god's wrath.
BOOM!
The beam struck the barrier.
The entire stronghold shook as the reinforced dome flashed blinding white. Cracks laced across its surface instantly, spiderwebbing outward.
"It need time to Recover."
Ben didn't wait another second. He moved.
Blurring forward with impossible speed, he closed the gap before the Magus could fire again. His pickaxe swung in an upward arc, aiming for the dragon-scaled throat.
But the Magus twisted mid step, using flame to launch himself upward while lightning surged beneath his feet. He countered in midair, a shadowy spear forming in his hand.
He hurled it.
Ben's spider limbs burst from his back, one slamming the shadow spear off course with a metallic clang.
'So I can still attack his elemental magic,' Ben thought following it up with a leap.
The Magus grinned, wings bursting outward. He rocketed forward like a meteor, and in that moment, they collided again. The air itself split with the violence of their clash.
BOOM!
Their collision erupted in a shockwave that leveled nearby mushroom trees, shattered stone spires, and sent waves of pressure crashing through the stronghold walls.
Lightning cracked and shadows spiraled, clashing with the sharp gleam of Ben's pickaxe and the heat shimmer radiating from his body.
The Magus didn't pull back. Flames swirled from his wings as he threw a blazing punch Ben blocked with the flat of his pickaxe, the force still sending him skidding back across the battlefield.
But Ben wasn't done.
He slammed one spider limb into the ground, anchoring himself. His feet gouged a trench through the earth as he halted his slide. "You hit hard," he said through grit teeth, "but I won't lose."
He leap forward.
The pickaxe tore through a bolt of lightning like it was mist. The Magus tried to sidestep, but Ben activated his mana displacement. His image flickered, three clone flickered around the Magus, each moving in a different direction.
The Magus eyes narrowed, spinning to counter, only to feel a searing pain tear across his side.
Ben's real self had slid under his guard, dragging the pickaxe through his scaled ribcage. Cracks raced across the Magus's armor, glowing with leaking aether.
But he didn't scream. Instead, he laughed. A realization appear on his mind, now that his mana sensitivity is raised even further, Ben's mana displacement trick become even more effective, but this doesn't mean he doesn't have anyway to counter.
With a roar, he thrust his arms outward shadow tendrils erupted from the ground like spears. Ben jumped, spider limbs flicking out to vault over them. The moment he cleared the trap, the Magus followed, fire trailing behind him like a comet.
They met midair.
Clang! Crack! BOOM!
A whirlwind of elemental destruction exploded outward as flame, shadow, and lightning clashed against raw strength. Ben used his spider limbs to spin midair, deflecting blows and landing counterstrikes as fast as he could.
Then the Magus summoned a massive spear of pure lightning, hurling it point-blank.
Ben didn't dodge.
Instead, he activated Magic Destroyer. The pickaxe caught the lightning spear and deflected it.
The Magus's eyes widened.
Ben grinned. "Seem Aether is not much different than mana."
He flipped, feet kicking off the Magus's chest, and swung the pickaxe down with full force.
CRACK!
It slammed into the Magus's shoulder, shattering the scaled armor and sending him plummeting into the earth below like a meteor.
A crater formed from the impact. Ben landed above it, dust swirling around him. His breath was heavy. His eyes burned.
Inside the crater, the Magus slowly rose, blood leaking from the cracks in his armor, a snarl on his face. 'Seem this imperfect relic is the problem.'
He already concluded that Ben's artifact can destroy anything related with Mana, and somehow it seem to doesn't have any limitation.
That's why he unleash this form to use Aether, but unfortunately his aether is not pure because of the incomplete relic. It seem to mix his attack with mana.
'Should I throw this relic or….' His eyes narrowed at spesific direction, than his lips curled into a grin, 'Maybe one more stone can be my solution.'
With that he launched himself toward Draeven and co.
