Ben's eyes widened. 'What the hell?'

BOOM!

The ground beneath him erupted, chunks of earth and fungal roots flying in every direction. Venom shot upward, tail-first, aiming straight for his throat.

Ben barely twisted his body in time—Slash! The jagged tip sliced across his side, deep enough to draw a spray of blood. Pain flared, but he didn't let it slow him down. His body was already moving, already countering.

His arm morphed mid-motion, muscle twisting, chitin folding in on itself—becoming a jagged, barbed spear. "Nice trick—let's see you dodge THIS!"

BAM!!

His spear slammed straight through Venom's midsection, impaling it against the trunk of a towering mushroom tree.

The creature shrieked, limbs flailing as venom spilled from its wound. Its six eyes locked onto him, flickering between rage and panic. Ben's grin was all fangs. "Not so slippery now, are you?"

He twisted the spear deeper, feeling the grind of chitin against chitin.

CLICK. CLICK. CLICK.

Venom's mandibles snapped together in a frantic, unnatural rhythm. A pulse of mana surged through its body. Ben's instincts screamed.

'Shit—!' He wrenched his weapon free, jumping back just in time to see the impossible.

Venom's entire body shifted. Its flesh turned translucent, veins pulsing with an eerie, sickly green glow. The deep wound Ben had carved into it didn't just heal—it melted, reforming, twisting into something else.

Ben's grin vanished. His grip on his weapon tightened. That wasn't regeneration. That was transformation.

Venom stood tall now, its form eerily human-like—leaner, more flexible. The chitin armor that once covered its body had morphed into a sleeker, reinforced exoskeleton. The deep wounds Ben had inflicted were gone, as if they had never existed.

But that wasn't the worst part. Its venom had changed. Thick, molten liquid dripped from its claws, sizzling against the ground, carving through stone and fungal roots like acid.

Then—it laughed.

Ben heard it. Not words, not speech—just clicks, growls, and guttural vibrations. But the way it carried, the way its chest heaving with dark amusement there was no mistaking it. This thing was laughing at him.

Venom moved. FAST. Ben dodged on reflex, his body twisting but nothing came. He whirled around just in time to see Venom wasn't after him.

It was standing in front of a Brute Ravager. Its mandibles unhinged. With a wet, sickening crunch Venom devoured the Brute whole.

CRACK. SNAP.

The sound of bones breaking, flesh being torn apart— the Brute didn't even get a chance to struggle. In mere seconds, it was gone. Completely absorbed.

Ben's eyes widened. Venom's body began to change again. Its exoskeleton thickened, its frame growing bulkier, more armored. The glowing green veins pulsed violently, a surge of mana coursing through its body. Its claws extended, sharper than before.

And then it moved again. A blur of motion. Another Ravager. Another devoured. Then another. And another.

Ben watched, stunned. But only for a moment. Because he knew exactly what was happening. It was the same thing he could do.

Venom was eating its own kind—not just to heal, but to evolve. Ben's shock twisted into a scowl. "Fucky you! That's my thing! Not you!"

Ben didn't waste a second. His muscles tensed, power surging through his limbs as he attacked. The ground cracked beneath him from the sheer force of his takeoff—a blur of motion as he closed the distance in an instant.

Venom barely had time to react. Ben's blade appendage whirled, carving a deadly arc through the air.

SLASH!

Venom twisted, but not fast enough. The blade tore through its side, black-green blood spraying across the ground. Ben didn't let up. He pressed forward, his attacks coming relentless. His body moved on pure instinct, an unstoppable storm of attacks.

SLASH. STAB. RIP.

Each strike forced Venom back, its body writhing, shifting—adapting. But Ben was faster..

Venom snarled, baring its fangs then, it moved. A blur disappearing right before Ben's eyes.

Ben's instincts screamed. Not gone. Not running. 'Behind you!' He spun just as Venom reappeared but it wasn't attacking.

It was standing in front of another Brute Ravager. "Oh, like hell you are—!" Ben hurled his pickaxe like a javelin. The weapon tore through the air but Venom was faster.

CHOMP.

Before the pickaxe could land—Venom devoured another Ravager whole. Ben's heart slammed against his ribs. 'Too late.'

Venom's body bulged, shifting. Its exoskeleton hardened even further, thick layers of chitin covering its torso like plated armor. Its arms elongated, muscle and bone warping into massive, reinforced limbs. And its tail—It wasn't a tail anymore.

The segmented appendage snapped apart, writhing like living whips—each tipped with a venomous, serrated blade.

Ben's jaw clenched, eyes burning with irritation. "Bastard! You pirate my Move!"

Venom's response? A twisted, toothy grin. Then, it attacked. Ben barely had time to prepare.

Bam!

A tendril whipped down at blinding speed. Ben sidestepped, the tip slicing clean through the ground where he stood moments before. Another tendril shot from the side—he raised his blade to intercept.

CLANG!

The impact shook his bones. The sheer force sent him skidding back. Venom didn't stop. Another tendril. Another attack. Faster. Sharper.

Ben ducked, rolled, countered—but Venom was evolving mid-battle. Ben clicked his tongue, frustration bubbling up. "Alright, you oversized leech—let's see how much you can take!"

His four blade appendage whirred, shifting into a scythe. And then he charged. But before he could close the distance a Brute Ravager slammed into his side.

CRACK!

Ben gritted his teeth, fury flashing through him. The damn thing had blindsided him. His body twisted mid-air and then His blade pierced straight through its skull, impaling it mid-motion.

But—something else happened. Venom moved. Ben's eyes snapped up Venom wasn't coming for him. It was devouring the Brute.

Right before his eyes, Venom's jaw unhinged, its mandibles splitting wider than should've been possible. The corpse barely hit the ground before it was swallowed whole.

Ben landed hard, skidding backward, his mind racing. "SHIT!"

The tendrils bulged, thickened. Venom's body expanded, more armored plates layering over its carapace. Its limbs longer, stronger.
