(What do you think of the updates you’ve seen so far? Yes, you guessed it, the well-missed double update is back, in line with the news recommendation. As for whether there will be a double update tomorrow? Only heaven knows.)
The alley where they were located belonged to the poorest area on the city’s outskirts. The houses here were city welfare buildings, built by the Municipal Government, specifically for the low-income poor to rent at low cost. Such houses, of course, would not be large or particularly good. The houses here were all in a row, with only one wall separating two houses. Breaking through the wall would lead to another room.
"The act of sacrificing to the deity is the most important ritual for the believer. How could it be casually handed over to a little punk, and not personally supervise it?" Pannis shrugged, listening to the sounds of battle from next door. He went over to Luna, untied her bindings, and covered her with his coat, "If it were you, would you do such a stupid thing? Am I right?"
"I, I don’t know." Luna clutched Pannis’s coat, peeking out from under it: "What’s going on?"
"The mastermind behind your assault is hiding next door, trying to deceive us with this method." Pannis said, "Sadly, his breathing is as obvious as a lighthouse, just shy of putting out a sign that says ’I’m here’."
Luna, although she seemed very strong, chatting nonchalantly with Pannis, was obviously trembling under the coat when she heard Pannis mention the mastermind. "Then, what do we do?"
"Of course we take him out." Pannis patted Luna on the shoulder. "Normally I should have you leave first, but you better not move. Otherwise, your wound will open up. So, just lie down here. We’ll be back soon."
"Hey, where are you, you, you going?" Luna asked anxiously.
"To help next door." Pannis sighed, "Don’t be scared, there are no other enemies here. It’s safe. Rest assured, take a nap, and we will be back soon." Without waiting for Luna to say anything, he quickly jumped to the wall and went through the blasted hole. freewebnøvel.coɱ
As soon as Pannis crawled through the hole, he saw a tremendous explosion of fire completely engulfing Catherine. The fire erupted from the palm of a purple-robed mage, forming a massive pillar of fire in the air. Devouring Catherine, it continued to extend forwards until it hit the wall.
In the persistent flames of the pillar of fire, there was a blink of light as a thin sword shot out, followed by Catherine’s extremely fast silhouette. Right now, Catherine looked very unkempt. The right part of her dress had been burned away, revealing her leg wrapped in white stockings. The left sleeve of her dress was also gone, the skin on her left arm from wrist to elbow was covered in large black burns, and two fingers on her left hand were abnormally twisted and clearly broken. However, even with her left hand nearly completely ruined, Catherine’s expression was as calm as ever. Her sword-wielding hand didn’t tremble from the pain or hesitate due to danger, but instead, she charged forward, counterattacking against the pillar of fire.
The pillar of fire quickly disappeared, the purple-robed Mage watched the incoming thin sword, then took a step forward. Ripples spread through the air as the Mage entered them and disappeared, reappearing calmly about three meters behind Catherine. As soon as he reappeared, he gave a pained grunt and staggered back a few steps, clutching his neck. His magic shield sprang up to protect him, and blood quickly began to seep from the place he was covering.
"Why would you run into me in such a big room?" Pannis asked, a brilliant smile on his face, standing outside the range of the magic shield, knife in hand.
Just two seconds prior, when the purple-robed Mage had used short-distance teleportation and entered the invisible ripples, Pannis had quickly moved forward a few steps. He held aloft the dagger he had picked up from next door and adopted a pose, standing still. One second ago, the purple-robed Mage appeared out of thin air behind Catherine and walked out. His foot had just hit the ground when his neck directly collided with Pannis’s raised dagger. Fortunately, he sensed the danger and instinctively dodged, so he only cut a deep wound on the side of his neck instead of having the dagger pierce his throat.
"That’s your own fault for not watching where you were going, you can’t blame me." Pannis shrugged, "You ran into me, you should apologize to me."
"How did you know I would teleport here?" For the first time, the purple-robed Mage spoke in surprise. When he spoke, he had an awkward tone, as if he was not used to this way of speaking.
"Guess?" Pannis gave a mysterious smile: "Actually, I just happened to be standing here. If you don’t believe me, try teleporting again."
The purple-robed Mage didn’t respond, just continued to glare at Pannis with a menacing look.
"It looks like you don’t often fight one-on-one, do you?" Seeing that the purple-robed Mage did not respond, Pannis had no choice but to chuckle and lower the dagger he had been holding up. He casually remarked, "It’s obvious that you lack experience. If I were you, I wouldn’t gaze at someone like this."
